Reading up on this story - the deceased is from the same town in Texas that my aunt has resided in for over forty years.

The cop is clearly a nutter, evident with the engravings on his weapon. It's in Arizona so no wonder the cop was found not guilty. I can understand the probable defense of the intoxicated person reaching back when ordered not to make incorrect movements, but this cop was clearly itching to shoot. With that many PD on the scene (at least two, may have been three) they could have easily subdued the man in a team effort as he lay on the ground.
An investigator agreed on my assessment above - https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/firings-come-precarious-time-big-tv-morning-shows-n825601 - The investigator noted he did not see anything that would have prevented officers from simply handcuffing Shaver as he was on the floor.

"You're F***ed" was etched onto Brailsford's weapon, an internal investigation report stated. In addition, an investigator found the words "molon labe" engraved on the outside dust cover. The Greek words, a classical expression of defiance, loosely translate to "come and take them."
cops are murderers
Because it is in a country where several people kill each other with guns on a daily basis and no one cares. What the actual feck is that video? How can a person like that be allowed to be near other humans, let alone have a fecking gun?

I've wanted to visit the states ever since I was a little boy but year by year I'm more reluctant. Perhaps it's an irrational fear of making a mistake in front of police officers but their trigger happiness really doesn't help.
@Hernandez - BFA the articles linked above did indicate the deceased was intoxicated.
It's absolutely awful. The second he said he wasn't going to be diplomatic I knew it was going to be shit.
Not condoning it in any way, but it pains me when I see officers give these guys instructions (no matter how simple like keeping your hands shown at all time and not look as if you're reaching something from behind) and then they do it. This officer was a dick, but if I hear an officer being this irrational or unstable like this guy, if he says to keep my hands on the ground and crawl forward the last thing I'm going to do is stop crawling and swing my right arm back for a milisecond. I mean, what the feck was he thinking. Was he drunk?
Nevertheless, the fact this guy didn't get punished at all is a joke.

Orlando??? The only place worth visiting in Florida is Tampa!Assuming you're going to visit Orlando?

I know billyThat's where I work. Next to the airport.
We aren't all like that. I was going to invite you to a game at McDintons.I know billy
On a serious note, I probably wouldn't want to visit Florida due to your state's hold your ground law. I know its irrational and that I shouldn't tar everyone with the same brush but I've never held a gun or had a gun pointed at me, I honestly think I would act like the unfortunate guy in the video above... Probably piss my pants and make involuntary movements.
That shuffle-crawl thing can't be procedure, can it?
The Daniel Shaver video is going to mess with me for a while. The cop sounded fecking aroused by his faux-power.
The worst part was that there was nothing he could do to prevent the shooting. The instructions were contradictory and he was not being allowed to speak- then he was shot because he stumbled as his pants fell down due to crawling as the cop asked. Kafkaesque.
I still don’t understand how civilians are expected to react 100% without any mistakes or sudden movements, despite being put in an obviously traumatising situation - and any mistake, or sudden movement is grounds for causation for them to be killed.
Doesn’t make sense to me, especially considering officers are trained, armed, armoured and out numbering the individual too.
Tbh he could have let his shorts fall down. Reaching towards your pockets when someone has a gun pointed at you & who has instructed you not to move your arms back isn’t a great move.
Yes cop was being a dick, but his instructions were very clear.
Its an instinctive reaction. Bet you would do the same in that situation. Your pants slide down and you try to pull them up.
Why didn't the second cop move to him and cuff him when he was on the floor? He was outnumbered, lying on the ground with a cnut with an assault rifle aimed at him and bawling his eyes out.
The cop was rightly fired. If there is a hell, there is a special place for this prick. "you're fecked" on his gun and he shoots an unarmed man in this fashion. What an absolute waste of human skin!
