Dear Lord... Police got what he wanted. He was clearly after that result. The police in the US are like gestapo, no wonder many fear them.
That's fecking disgusting. It's like a serial killer toying with you before he inevitably kills you. You know for a fact this officer wanted to legally kill that guy, he even said if you fall face first and you're arms move in a natural action he would be shot. Two unarmed police in any developed country would have that situation controlled in a fraction of the time.
Its incredible how the cop wasn't convicted for that. Says it all about the US justice system.

The cop is clearly a nutter, evident with the engravings on his weapon. It's in Arizona so no wonder the cop was found not guilty. I can understand the probable defense of the intoxicated person reaching back when ordered not to make incorrect movements, but this cop was clearly itching to shoot. With that many PD on the scene (at least two, may have been three) they could have easily subdued the man in a team effort as he lay on the ground.

It should be obvious to anyone watching that video that the guy was scared shitless....and some people when they are scared find it difficult to understand and follow basic instructions. But because of the gun rights the probability of a guy with no criminal record having a gun in his waistband is also significantly higher. Hence the overkill ( pardon the pun)

It's absolutely awful. The second he said he wasn't going to be diplomatic I knew it was going to be shit.
Not condoning it in any way, but it pains me when I see officers give these guys instructions (no matter how simple like keeping your hands shown at all time and not look as if you're reaching something from behind) and then they do it. This officer was a dick, but if I hear an officer being this irrational or unstable like this guy, if he says to keep my hands on the ground and crawl forward the last thing I'm going to do is stop crawling and swing my right arm back for a milisecond. I mean, what the feck was he thinking. Was he drunk?
Nevertheless, the fact this guy didn't get punished at all is a joke.
I've wanted to visit the states ever since I was a little boy but year by year I'm more reluctant. Perhaps it's an irrational fear of making a mistake in front of police officers but their trigger happiness really doesn't help.

Ah didn't read the article, just the video. Makes sense then, which makes it even worse that the officer did what he did. Sure drunk people may be dangerous as they may think irrationally, but to expect him to follow every instruction to every point is just asking the guy to get shot.
On top of being under the influence the man was terrified, All people act differently to high stress situations I guess, some remain completely coherent and logical, some panic. The victim might have fallen to the latter category. I'm guessing that if you panic it's hard to obey commands of a yelling man. There's no excuse for what the officer did, worse is that he walked away from that a free man.
That is feckin sickening, I have seen some awful things on the net over the years but that is terrible, honestly that is a cold blooded execution. How anyone can watch that and not see from the outset that the police officer was buzzing for an opportunity to pull the trigger is beyond me. How many more do we have to see before someone calls a spade a spade? You are giving a licence to kill to people who are mentally unstable. I can't believe I've seen people on various sites justify what is quite clearly a murder. You're not a patriot if you can't see anything wrong with your society and defend any criticism to the hilt. You're a coward. That vermin should be locked up indefinitely. I pray that we don't roll out weapons across our police force.

I correctly called the walter scott shooting as a bad, unjustified shooting. Surprised he actually got sentenced 20 years in S.Carolina of all places. Wtf was he thinking.
Didn't think it was common, but I've actually seen 1 or 2 agencies use it for felony or high-risk stops. I was trained very differently both in the academy and afterwards when I was a trainee with my department.
The Daniel Shaver video is going to mess with me for a while. The cop sounded fecking aroused by his faux-power.
The worst part was that there was nothing he could do to prevent the shooting. The instructions were contradictory and he was not being allowed to speak- then he was shot because he stumbled as his pants fell down due to crawling as the cop asked. Kafkaesque.
Tbh he could have let his shorts fall down. Reaching towards your pockets when someone has a gun pointed at you & who has instructed you not to move your arms back isn’t a great move.

His instructions were contradictory. He was setting that guy up to fail to satisfy his bloodlust.
I still don’t understand how civilians are expected to react 100% without any mistakes or sudden movements, despite being put in an obviously traumatising situation - and any mistake, or sudden movement is grounds for causation for them to be killed.

Yup, this is absolutely baffling. People react differently and cope or not with stress to varying degrees, to expect everybody to comply 100% is literally asking for an excuse to execute them as per in the video discussed. Some people absolutely shit themselves during, say, driving license test, nevermind being at the gunpoint after so many examples of American cops doing absolutely shite job.
I believe that soldiers, cops, plenty of them just enroll to be able to kill somebody because deep down they are fecking psychos and they manage not to show it during psychological tests.

Absolutely. Its very odd to justify something like this by saying the instructions were clear. As @Kostur said above, something as trivial as a driving test makes people nervous, imagine being at gun point facing multiple cops who are threatening to blow your head off.
The cop actually says that he's supposed to fall down face first if he even stumbles and will be shot if he breaks his fall with his hands. That's simply looking for an excuse to shoot the guy because there's no way he could ever possibly do that. Its fecking instinct.
