Good move by the Broncos provided that its affordable. Still need to draft a QB though.

Will they settle for their second choice QB though? The Browns are drafting before them and might still pick a QB, even after acquiring Taylor. The Bills will almost certainly trade up to grab the QB of their choice. The Giants might also be looking for a Manning replacement. Let's say the Broncos are sold on Allen but he's gone by the time it's their pick, what will they do?

I saw a rumor about the Broncos being in talk with the Browns for the #1 pick.

Could make sense, yeah. I think that also indicates they haven't overspent on Keenum, or gave him a incentive-based contract.

It was 3 or 4 days ago, so it's not linked to Keenum and apparently the Keenum's contract is short, so there is probably some money into it, otherwise why would Keenum agree to a contract that soon? The other option would be that the Vikings and Cardinals got the QBs they wanted.

Keenum to Broncos kinda makes sense given perspective on cap space and draft position.

Watkins apparently going to Chiefs. 16m p/y, 3 year deal, 30m guaranteed.

That is ridiculous money for a receiver who has truly done not much at all in the last few years! Not to mention has injury concerns.

But hey another weapon for Mahomes could be fun.

Could mean nothin at all though. Could just be that the Broncos knew they were being priced out of Cousins and felt Keenum was the best option based on their draft plans.

It does IMO mean that Keenum is going to be being paid a lot I think.

Norwell is off to the Jax. Will become the highest paid guard in the league.
Allen Robinson is expected to sign with the Bears, Sammy Watkins will sign with the Chiefs. That's three of the best free agents off the market already.

They have a stacked offense. Will be interesting how the young QB does & the reaction if they start poorly.

Guessing Graham goes back to Saints as well. It was fun thinking for a day that the Packers would be making moves!

As expected, Brees is staying in NO. 2-year deal worth $50 million.

He’s one of my favourite players. Really would like to see him win another ring before retirement.

Graham would be a good signing for us. But Robinson and Watkins would have been madness. We need defense. We should have taken a good look at Sherman. Now I think we should focus on Wilkerson and Butler. When all is over we‘ll sign nobody anyway. Maybe Ricky Jean Francois again.

The Dolphins just signed Albert Wilson to a three year contract with 24 million in guarantees. Wilson had 1544 yards receiving, throughout his four year career. Horrible deal.

Could've easily gotten $10m more out of that imo, Saints would have a lot of dead money if he were to leave and if guys like Cousins and Garappolo are getting paid close to $30m/year, I don't see why Brees shouldn't when he's a lot better than them, even if he's already 39.

At the prices they were going for, yeah. Sherman I think was probably too expensive (I read that a call was made but probably not much more).

Not a lot of cap space but quite a few positions of need... :nervous:

At this point I'd be surprised if this doesn't happen. The 28m/yr fee is also likely why the Broncos opted for Keenum as it would've otherwise shackled them from making other deals this spring.

What do you think about that deal? It's 500k over Garoppolo's which makes sense but I don't like that figure, now realistically he wasn't going to cost 25m.

Extending Rodgers and cutting Nelson or Cobb could free up a lot of space. So I wouldn't worry about that too much.

Less than i expected.

Schefter also saying 3 year, fully guaranteed deal worth $84m with the Vikings.

He better deliver the goods.

Is this the first fully guaranteed deal in NFL??

I think so. Just found an article saying that in 2015, only Suh and Revis had deals where more than half was guaranteed (52% and 55% respectively).

NFL.com are reporting a figure close to $86m guaranteed, pretty insane if you read it like that.

The Vikings are well positioned to compete for Super Bowls in the next few years, so winning one would make this more than worth it for them, as they have never won one and haven't been to the big game in 4 decades.

Who would you let go out of Nelson and Cobb? Have a feeling they'll just restructure Nelson's deal and keep both in the end, particularly if no other receiver comes in (outside a vet TE).

With Cousins about to get paid it should let the Rodgers deal happen quicker anyway.

$84 million guaranteed!! WTF are Vikings smoking?? They have a super bowl window, it's a big risk. Will they comfortably stay under the cap the next 3 years even with this deal?

You better be good Kirk, you better be good.

That's because they have a super bowl window that they are going big. And yes they will be under the cap in the next 3 years since they can front load the deal and they have the option of making room by cutting someone like Jarius Wright, they are also going to renegotiate Murray's contract or cut him between the two you have 7m in 2018 and 8m in 2019, both can be replaced since they are depth guys, someone like Griffen will be renegotiated since cutting him would free 10,7m in 2019. The Vikings are a well managed team from a salary standpoint, the different journos that are making noise about the future extensions are doing a pretty bad job.

I‘d let both walk. Nelson due to age, Cobb due to performance. In both cases the salary is far too high.

Jesus that's a lot of money. So glad the Broncos stepped back from that.

*Cue reports of Keenum getting the same*

Short term deal at about $18m per year. If true, they are definitely going after Rosen at #5.

So about $10m per year less and almost certainly nowhere near fully guaranteed. Definitely a much better deal than paying Cousins inho.

That's preliminary according to the Denver Post. Let's see what officially comes out in the coming days. If the numbers are solid then I'd say the Broncos are getting more bang for the buck than the Vikings would with Cousins.

It's important to remember that Keenum numbers are slightly inflated by Diggs and Thielen, who are not only great route runners but are also two of the best at contested catches.
