FA W FA Cup Quarter Finals

Manchester United 2:0 Brighton & Hove Albion

Post-match discussion

I'm starting to think Manchester United is some sort of dadaist performance art.

Would Wembley tickets only go to people who've been to X amount of United games?

I live the other side of England, down south. But would love to take my dad and sister to Wembley. They've never been.

Job done.

Matic MOTM
Lukaku Good
and Romero brilliant. Great Falcao chant too!

Liverpool might be scoring a lot of goals, but they still haven't anything since 2012. And we might be playing the worst football, but we have won 3 trophies since Ferguson has left. Five points above them and still have a chance to win a trophy this season. What would you rather have, good football without trophies or boring football with trophies and better league position?

This, definitely the latter!

Win is all that matters. Okish performance after a horrific midweek.

Honestly a few more years watching that football I doubt too many people could stay awake long enough to prefer that style of football. Since Fergie left we have been really brutal to watch all to often .

People on the Caf want us to score with our every attack and close the opposition before halfline, shocker!!
I think most people would settle for not looking like the worse football team on the OT pitch against Brighton...

Jeez, what would the reaction have been if we'd have lost that?

Good first half, second half pretty pedestrian, they had a brief spell, dominated the game overall. Matic only standout performance. Happy with that.

Good result. Terrible game from everyone bar goal scorers and Romero.

Best thing was to see our shiny 2 big players watching the full game from bench after their continuous abysmal performance. Couldn't expect any different reaction from SAF if he was the manager currently.

We won, we are in the semis, great result.

Unfortunately, something is missing from this team. I have no idea what it is. I hope Jose will find it.

Fairly pedestrian performance in poor conditions. I'll take a 2-0

Mourinho "Beautiful performance, we controlled the game from start to finish, it was excellent"

Sorry, but I watch football for entertainment. Boring football can only win you tier 2 trophies. Teams who play good football win leagues and UCLs

Better than Tuesday. I'm still irritated with how often the opposition are allowed to get into our back four to make chances. Surely if we let them have possession we should be confident in shutting them right down before opportunities are created?

Still, two good goals and an unremarkable display will do for me in the last eight of the FA Cup.

Mata the only player on the pitch who can dictate play tonight. Two DMs against Brighton is a bit much thats the situation we're in.

Please play Sanchez on the right next game or at least Rashford

Manchester has big, big, big problems.

Martial is a bloodsucking leech.

The substitutions are mind boggling.

Brighton's football heritage on full display. Their average league position in the past few years is better than ours so we had to give them thw respect, half of their players would walk right into our team.

SIGH

good win, god awful performence. Jose trying to prove his tactica can work. Obviously they can. Only that scoring goals has a history of helping you win matches. If we draw Spurs at the semi's... Were porked

Only thing that perked my interest was seeing Sir Bobby and his wife obviously freezing. Club should have them one of the lounges in such cold.

Worst of all, it'll be spun into a "controlled the game" narrative. Can't even argue that it was defensively solid performance since they had lots of half-chances and got into positions that should have resulted in them testing the keeper.

A very subdued performance. Happy to be in the semis, and hopeful that players get their heads sorted out before we're back.
As I said in the match thread, very happy that Jose won't be near a microphone for a bit.

Off to Wembley!! First half was ok but that second half was appalling. Fortunate to get the 2nd goal but happy with the win.

Elated.

Dominated Brighton who have great seaside heritage. Controlled from first minute to last, with and without the ball. Complete contrast to the Sevilla game, proud of how the team reacted and brang Old Trafford back to life again. The win is all that a mattered today, and we got so much more.

We ain't no City, but we're a damn good plucky underdog based on our last 7 years and we will close the gap against the top teams 300 million quid at a time.

Viva la counter attack.

Snail slow movement in the final third

Zero movement off the ball.

Gave the opposition time and space on the ball once again.

Not yet a united team

Good win! I think everyone could use a little break now.. roll on Swansea!

We couldn't even string 3-4 passes together in the Brighton's half that 2nd half.

The team changes more times than the weather. In March and we don't even know our first 11.

Positives; We in the semis.

Comfortable win! Don't get why people are complaining about the performance, always in control and we're off to Wembley! Easy work.

Great entertainment on a saturday night. Great stuff. Just great.

Meh performance. I expected more. I wanted us to do to Brighton what Liverpool did to Watford but this is the reality we have under Mourinho. He would rather protect a lead rather than keep going and add a second, third and fourth. Very boring to watch. Just like the LVG days. With the players we have we should be smashing teams 4/5 nil. Through to the semis but I'm not confident. If we get Spurs next round I don't think we'll beat them playing like we are now.

Two shots on target, two goals. Woeful performance other than that.

Dire performance. Again

"But a win is all that matter" FFS we spent half billion for a glorified WBA team
