Post-match discussion

Soon as underperforming fringe players like Mata, Young, Valencia, Smalling and Fellaini are all sold and replaced the better.
I love how Fellaini still gets blamed for everything despite not even being named to the bench. The negative effect he has on the players who are actually playing is amazing. Is he hypnotizing them to play badly with his afro, perhaps?

At home to lose to a team which has won only ONCE since August 2017. Mourinho is clueless sometimes, or is it all the time. Pathetic performance. Anticlimax to a season. Time for the board to go to the drawing board and draw a map with the direction this club should take.

Is Mourinho the right man to take the club in that direction, does he know what it takes? Does he knows what is needed? Does he know how to play united way?

It is the lack of chances created that hurts the most. We barely created anything of note. If this were Spurs or Liverpool or City, they would be three nil up at halftime.

How can we beat City, Liverpool, chelski and then lose to West Brom? This team fecking baffles me at times. Ok football is like that sometimes, shit just don’t go your way, teams defend like they’re life depends on it, get a goal on the break etc, etc but there wasn’t one player out there that deserved any accolades, fecking gash the lot of ‘em
and don’t tell me it was Mourinhos fault, that team should of beaten that lot.

Fecking shite performance, fuming.

To the people saying, can't wait until next year, why? It won't be any different. FFS.

Beat the top team last week, lose to the bottom this week. Our entire season basically summed up in one week.

I have no idea why we're in the market for a new defence when there's a real lack of quality to our attacking play. We seem to have a shit ton of attacking players yet are completely awful at breaking teams down.

Nope, no qualifiers.
The only thing left is bragging rights that's forgotten about a day after the last game.
Were still a game in hand away from 4 points clear in second. The season is dead. A zombie corpse of a run in.

Oh alright I didn’t know that fair enough.

Still id like to finish second it will be a disappointment having Liverpool finish above us.

433. Basically best 11. And we were that bad. Second half and substitutions were shambolic. But we should get 2 penalties to be honest.

I have no idea why we're in the market for a new defence when there's a real lack of quality to our attacking play.

Because our attacking talent is great, it's the coach that doesn't put them in the fecking positions to win!

Game raising empty vessels, the whole lot of them. I was uncomfortable at how wildly we were celebrating the City win last week.

We are seemingly on our way to becoming Liverpool.

Too many players who pick and choose when they wanna apply themselves properly. Teams like this don't win titles.

Poor line-up from Mourinho today, and poor subs as well. If we're playing a 433 we need at least one of Martial or Rashford on to give us that pace and attacking threat. Then when we made the subs we left outselves with no midfield. I have wondered how Mata would go in the midfield, but not in a match in which he's playing terribly. Pogba certainly didn't do well, but he also had absolutely no movement ahead of him to actually pass the ball to. He wasn't the one to take off once we finally were bringing Martial and Rashford on to hopefully provide that movement.

That is on Mourinho.

The terrible play from our players actually on the field is on them though. Anybody who had any last belief that we don't need new fullbacks surely has to acknowledge it after that match. Young did well earlier in the season, but other than two or three good matches he's been fairly poor since he came back from that suspension a couple of months ago. And Valencia has been poor all season.

De Gea and Smalling were the only players who can walk off the field with their head held high. Every other player on the field was below average at best.

I still am miffed how we are still so awful and breaking a team down when they sit back. Today was tragic when you look at the players we had out there, and we never really looked like scoring, especially once they took the lead.

I don´t care who goes or stays anymore part from De Gea. Im so sick of these players now. I do actually still believe in Mourinho though. We played well from the start but we just can't feckin score. That's our main problem, we never score from the start. Then we panic and the clock just ticks. Unbelievable.

Players looked scared again, I can't get my head around it We've beaten all the too teams in the past few weeks and yet we've no confidence on the pitch today

So often this season it's been backwards - sideways - backwards - sideways - backwards - sideways. So frustrating.

Rodriguez was the best player on the park because despite playing for an absolute shower he drove forward everytime he had the ball.

We're not a mile off but this fragile mentality and lack of bravery is concerning There's no excuse for it

Rubbish. But unsurprising. Mourinho is dragging that club around, and in time, we will see it's all a little too much for him.

Ok this is a genuine question. Why is it that we are sh#t against sh#t teams and good against good teams? It's not a coincidence. is it because we can't break through the bus?

Because against good teams, he sets up as underdogs, vs not so good teams he sets up us in a same way but it will never work.

Felt sorry for Herrera going off. He was definitely not the worst player out there. Matic was awful, Pogba couldn't be bothered. Mata was next to useless.

Still 6 more games to sit through, I don't know if we can get any lower than that but I have a sneaky feeling we will.I have to ask how many of these players (a) want to play for the manager and (b)really know what it means to be a Man United player?

This could be the worst season ever, City win the League and Liverpool win the Champions League.
And Chelsea win the FA cup

Jose often subs off players that are on a booking... he wasn't playing well, and we should have had enough without him. Ferguson used to make subs all the time without these kinds of character assassinations.
You cannot tell me he wasn't making a statement there ? Course he was, there were others that deserved pulling , yellow card or not.

That's it. Now you understand the master plan.
There are some gems today.

Weirdly, I am not angry about this loss.
It's not so weird. Can't expect much more from a Mourinho team. I'm not angry either. Just a bit disappointed about wasting 2 hours like that. But I'm quite used to this sort of shite from post-SAF United. League season is over anyway, doesn't really matter if we finish 2nd or 3rd.

Good think i counted to 10 slower than usual. As i said in the match thread, i'm just tired of Mourinho. Not angry, not anything else, just bored and tired.

Fully agree, so tired of the crap being shoveled week in week out. Can’t believe we are going to carry on with this manager.

Well, it was shit. We can blame the manager, weather, ref, ball or something else but the players were a disgrace today. Mata was the worst I have ever seen him, like seriously shocking. All the subs (Martial, Rashford, Lingard) absolutely 0 impact on the game. Lukaku missed a few chances. Pogba was meh. Valencia/Young is not even worth discussing, they should be at WBA.

Bye bye Martial. Don't let the door hit you on your way out. No heart, no urgency, nothing from him.

No attacking patterns, no unity, it can't all be on the players.
Lol United started playing again when he came on, but ya its all on him. BOOO Martial and the fact that he was the only one aside from Sanchez, running at his defender. Give this Martial flogging a rest. The TEAM was crap; the fact that you single out a player like Martial and not Mata who shouldve been subbed at half time, is quite interesting.

Totally gash serving up that shit against the worst team in the league.

Shit reactive football. Shit subs. Shit lineup.

Same idea as Sevilla. Overly defensive against a lesser side. We can afford to go two up top in a game like that.
Which big team plays with 2 upfront these days though? It’s nothing to do with that. It was a crap performance, WBA grew in confidence, we lost.

It wouldn’t matter if we had 4 upfront, if the attitude is wrong then you don’t win sh*t.

It can’t always be on Jose.
