Manchester City 17/18 discussion | "If you're here for the Champions clap your hands" (#6505)

I make it they join Chelsea on three titles this decade.

We've got two. If we were to win next year the 2010's finish three a piece and one for Leicester.

I hate to break it to you, but your team spent similar amount to City since Ferguson left.

In the great scheme of things, it does not matter how much you spend in terms of pounds and pence. It's how you spend the money and how you use the players you got. That is what made the difference in how both teams performed this season.

Difficult to be okay with a dictatorship akin to terrorism spunking billions they have acquired from the exploitation of their impoverished population for the sole purpose of a vanity project designed to launder their image worldwide...

Calm down mate. You should be a bit careful about your statement and need to get your facts right. Be angry and annoyed, but no need for your trolling bunch of lies

Just ignore it buddy, its like an angry child, he'll cry himself out. Enjoy our win and look forward to what we can possibly achieve for the rest of the season.

Do five minutes of research into your owners and you'll see the truth pal.

When you start using words like 'Terrorists' then you really need to wind your neck in. It has no place in football and certainly not on football forums.

Congrats City. Well deserved. Ran away and hid it.

City deserved champs but Andy Hinchcliffe on Sky sums them up. Can’t just celebrate their achievement but has to state that they’re the best Prem team ever, would beat the Utd teams of the past and will dominate for the next five years. Tragic.

I don't know if believe this whole "they bought the title". We've spent a lot of money ourselves. Have to give credit where credit is due - they have been phenomenal this season and thoroughly deserved to win the league.

We have a lot to do before over the summer if we're going to have a chance to catch them.

2 nil up and fecked it up.. City is their name.

People can claim that it's not just the money, but you don't dominate the PL like that without Arab money. Simple as that. Proof of that is that it hasn't been done.
I think you're being vague here. Whenever I break things down to bits I cannot help but admit that there has to be some managerial genius somewhere somehow no matter how much I try to argue with myself to the contrary.

I honestly do think that it's not just about the money. Their record signing had a season long injury and before Laporte kicked a ball, they were already pretty much champions in waiting. I'm happy though that Liverpool took the shine off them because were it not so, we wouldn't hear the last of their so called invincibility but credit where it's due, they made the league look like child's play. When I watched them yesterday vs Spurs, I was so angry at Spurs because I felt they weren't much better than Spurs yet they made them look like WBA.

Hope we've started making serious moves for our targets because we would need to do a lot more to snatch the title off them next season.

What’s with the sudden influx of City fans on here...haven’t you got better things to be doing right now than being on a United forum?

Where did you see this?

How did City attract Guardiola though? Because they absolutely wouldn't have without the money. I'm not suggesting he isn't a very good manager. No credit from me though. It simply wouldn't have been possible without their equivalent of a cheatcode. And these kind of clubs are making football worse.

To be fair, in my case I was kicked out of Bluemoon for telling home truths about the state of our squad (truths that where painfully exposed in the 2 Liverpool games in the CL and the last Manchester Derby) (1), so with a lack of a decent alternative and the fact my City support does not stop me having a lot of respect for United. I decided to join this forum (further helped by how good this forum actually is even for a Non-United fan).

Note

(1) It was over our failure to sign Sanchez funny enough and based on how the season has fared for us since our bottling, I have (sadly) been vindicated on many occasions that not signing him was a big mistake on our part, not the least since he helped United beat us in the last Derby...

Yes i'd agree with you on that one absolutely. They'd be a nothing club without their jackpot win. Hope they get lost somehow...

Fair enough.

Fair enough.

Thanks for that!

Look, if there is any comfort that United fans such as yourself can cling onto, it is that for all the mistakes that have been made, progress has actually been made in in the sense that at least you put up more of a fight against us than anyone else in the League, you no longer have to worry about qualifying for the Champions League and that despite the poor trasnfer polices made (collectively) by Fergie, the Glazers, Moyes and LVG, one does see the bones of a League winning team there.

Really all that needs to be done is that you need to have another decent trasnfer window and be less Pulis-like in terms of tatic's and I feel that you able to strongly challenge us for the title. In fact the only disappointment that both teams could claim is how we both fared in the CL, for me it is a disgrace that Liverpool of all teams has managed to reach the Semi-Finals and neither of us has managed to do so.

Couldn't really care in all honesty. We've known for half a year it was pretty much wrapped up for them; and at least we got to take the gloss off it with our win last week which will no doubt irk City fans however much they say it doesn't.

Now they can appropriate Liverpool's 'five times, la'.

Still firmly in our shadow. :)

I know it's a bit bitter from me but Our City. Surely?

*edit* post came out wrong. Bloody phone!

This hoodoo of being stuck firmly in our shadow is unshakable. I sincerely cannot think of any other title winner down the years, from the prem or otherwise, that could out with such a pathetic celebratory banner. They've just won the title and the first club they think of is United.

Sad.

Yeah, that's not helping mate

A fantastic side and a fantastic season. They've made the league a complete non-contest. Congratulations.
