Who will knock out England?
And so, which round?

First round group matches.
June 18: England v Tunisia

June 24: England v Panama

June 28: England v Belgium

Second Round

Group H
  • Poland
  • Senegal
  • Colombia
  • Japan

If England top their group, they'll play the runners-up of Group H - Colombia are second seeds.

If England finish second in their group, they'll play the winners of Group H - Poland are first seeds.

Quarter-finals

If England top their group and win the second round, they'll play the winners of the game between the Group E toppers and Group F runners-up - probably Brazil.

If England come second in their group and win the second round, they'll play the winners of the game between Group F toppers and Group E runners-up - probably Germany.

Semi finals.

Argentina?
France?
Another team?

If they get as far as Quarter finals they will be doing well. First big team they come up against, it's curtains.

Is not a league where you play 38 games. Its an one-month-tournament. If it was a league Spain probably would win by 10 points.

Have you considered the possibility that you guys can win all those NTs in knockout games?

We will get dicked on sideways from Brazil or Germany.

I think we've got a resilliant, yet uninspiring team. A team that will work hard, but lacks real star quality.

Don't think we will get hammered by anyone, but I'd expect us to exit at the quarter finals to one of Germany or Brazil.

It's also not a crap domestic cup where any team has a realistic chance of winning it.

Should be aiming to get to the quarter finals at least with those potential opponents. That would be a decent return for that squad I would think, not to mention better than England have done recently.

Probably finish second then go out to Colombia. I'd fancy we'd beat Poland quite easily. Not getting past the quarters.

Panama, after England will lose their first game against Tunisia.

When Brazil won the WC1994, the team was not anything to write about, but they had a beast of a center forward in Romário, which proved crucial in both qualifiers and final stage.
England is not that bad. A title is unlikely, albeit completely possible. The main reason why England does so poorly, in my opinion, is the ever so pessimist attitude of the fans.

England to get knocked out in the Quarters at 21/10 seems decent odds if you ask me.

Only danger is Colombia beating them.

Most Irish thread ever?

England are the Spurs of international football. Never win anything but are still hated on here.

Brazil or Germany in the quarters. Pretty sure they'll get 1st or 2nd in the group, and Group H is decent but England should beat most of those. Though they should've beaten Iceland.. so we'll see.

In no way will England beat Poland «easily». Poland are a real team, unlike England that’s merely a bunch of supposedly better players. They have Lewandowski as well, he always scores in international games.

That's mostly due to one certain poster on here. I doubt most United fans who aren't on caf particularly care about Spurs.

Very true! Still, I don't get why we (England) are so hated. It's not like we think we're good ourselves or anything.

I think a lot of people are way too harsh and almost enjoy criticising England, who I think will have a good tournament.

The England youth teams are stacked with quality too, so I believe the national team has a bright future.

If they get Colombia in the round of 16 they'll lose. If they get some other team then they'll lose to Germany or Brazil in the quarters.

I'm predicting Poland will disappoint in this World Cup.

As long as we don't get Colombia, I think we'll make the QFs. Are Poland even that good that some seem so confident they'll beat us?

Brazil.

It's a hard working, mundane team that will be uninspiring but hard to beat until they come up against any kind of real quality ie Neymar.

Surely failing to reach the QF's would be a sackable offence for Southgate?

We should be getting out of the group. The last 16 match will tell us how much we have learned since Iceland.
