What’s modern about Carrick? He has played under older managers his whole life. He isn’t going to suddenly have a ‘modern’ outlook on things. Whatever ‘modern’ means anyway.
wtf does this even mean?

We are hoping that he can bring in the knowledge from the Fergie days and playing with super star balon dor winners. Much like a former Barcelona DM (Pep) did when he became manager. Pep took the methods of Johan Cruyff and amplified them and tweaked them to his own style. Imagine Carrick did that too?

Nope. He's joining the coaching staff but not as assistant. Basically picking up the cones.
It's Chicken Little.
Who puts them out in the first place though? That's the real power position.
Shut the cluck up!
Some people are more chicken than others. We are digressing.Chickens are people to ya know!
Yeah Ronaldo and Owen lol.Playing with superstar balon dir winner? You mean ronaldo? I got nothing against carrick but jose coached ronaldo himself not long ago.

Giblets!Did you say dressing? I hope your not referring to chicken Cesar salad you cannibal!!
Irish. Is he an Irish lad or a local?
The name is a wee hintIrish.
Who's saying he won't be asked to step in as the manager if Jose is sacked during the season? Won't get a better chance to impress than that!Still think he should've stayed with the18s, at least for now, because if Mourinho leaves next season and let's be honest it's 50/50 that he will his backroom staff will leave with him and it's unlikely that KM will be invited back by the new Manager to coach in the Academy again.
Best of British to him though in his new role.
The manager doesn't pick the academy coaches so I doubt Nicky Butt or the club would give a feck if a new manager invites him or not.Still think he should've stayed with the18s, at least for now, because if Mourinho leaves next season and let's be honest it's 50/50 that he will his backroom staff will leave with him and it's unlikely that KM will be invited back by the new Manager to coach in the Academy again.

Modern is just the phrase many here used for anyone but jose. Pep poch klopp jardim sarni allegri tuchel all falls under modern manager while jose is an outdated dinosaur.

Modern is an empty phrase, but if you use other adjectives like "attacking", you see that everyone one that list fits the bill (except for Allegri, his teams are quite defensive).
It is Jose's fault that he only knows how to set up his teams with big lumps like Fellaini or Lukaku up front (see his comments after the FA cup final). The progressiveness of that tactic is seen on the biggest stage, where Mourinho's record in the last few years reads like that of a Championship manager struggling in a division clearly above his level.

Appearances aside, they're very different players.
5 managers have won the PL title since Sir Alex retired:
- Manuel Pellegrino
-Jose Mourinho
-Claudio Raneri
-Antonio Conte
-Pep Guardiola
That's within the last 5 years. Are they all outdated or is it just Jose Mourinho?
wtf does this even mean?
He meant that Sir Alex wouldn't be able to compete with "modern" managers.
Of course Jose is the only dinosour on this list5 managers have won the PL title since Sir Alex retired:

Top 4 would be generous. I mean, how a team that emphasized on fast wingers, attacking fullbacks, and skillful striker could survive in this League? That's just ridiculous.Aw bless

He's literally JUST retired, and JUST started doing his coaching badges within the last few years, how much more modern can you get than that FFS![]()
he's his own man, i'm sure he has plenty of MODERN ideas to bring to the table.
Fergie didn’t really have a modern outlook though did he? His ways were quite traditional.
No, that’s not what I meant at all.
Like what? There is an over emphasis on what is supposed to be ‘modern’. A lot of his ideas will be based of things he has seen under Fergie for example.
Well that depends what he decides to take from it, it is well versed that Fergie delegated a lot. If there is any thing he should take from Sir Alex it should be his man-management, mentality etc... Tactically he was there when we came-up short versus Barca, so he knows that there was and will always be room for improvement, and if he is obsessed with SAF he knows how the great man had to adapt himself.
I don't know why people assume our players are dim or that a person doesn't have the capacity to learn.
