International Friendlies May/June

What a fecking hit!

Take a bow Hinteregger.

Hazard for the amazing player he is should really have more attempts at goal. He's too unselfish.

Alaba is amazing again today. He and Arnautovic work so well together at times.

I think someone has drugged Kimmichs porridge.

2-1 Austria. Thoroughly enjoy watching Germany being outplayed, even if it's just a friendly.

Löw going wild with the experiments and the established players not giving a feck is a proud tradition of our team. At least Austria seem to enjoy themselves.

I don't understand it. The players on the pitch are playing in some of the best clubs in the world (Man City, Bayern, Chelsea etc.) and when they have to play just one game against any mediocre opponent without Kroos holding their hands, they fall to pieces. Other national teams manage just fine without Kroos, just overpowering their opponents through sheer individual quality

You can't even say nobody cares about friendlies like it is usually the case, all the players here should be running their asses off for a spot in the squad / starting eleven:mad:

1-2 now ffs

Rudy should be nowhere near the national team.

Some guys in Eppan (Hummels, Boateng, Kroos, Müller) secure their starting places (which are secure anyways) without the need to play...

It's not so much that Kroos is missing, but that this is the only time these combinations of players will be on a pitch together and even if something is wokring out decently like the Khedira+Gündogan midfield Löw just rips that part out and replaces them by a Goretzka/Rudy combo that's bound to "disappoint", because these matches aren't about winning for him and thus they aren't for the players either. On the other hand Austria seem to treat this as some sort of final, fans whistling, players and coaches celebrating goals like they've won something, etc.

What a performance by Austria and by Arnautovic. Deserved winners on the night.

It is not just that. Look at the friendlies Müller played - there is only one or two friendlies that we lost during his match time - some he saved when he came in. Kroos is probably a similar story with the stability he brings into the match even if I think that sometimes playing him makes it more difficult to score as we lose the ball less and therefore there is less moments to break. But with him we usually have the dominance and that somewhen in the match pays out. The ConfedCup was not a blueprint because that was an up and down the field with a lot players on the field that are good on the break.

But that is not even bad. It brings tranquility into the team. I remember that Kroos after the match against Brazil told that if players wanting a starting spot they have to show that in this matches but did not. Seems that some in the second row had too big mouths...

Belgium look so poor, no idea how this group of players can play like this. Not sure why they're not pressing us either, they're just letting us pass the ball around instead of taking control of the game.

Fonte has been crap in China but put him next to Pepe and he looks decent enough. I think he'll end up being the starter, Lukaku is a difficult job for anyone and he's done well.

Belgium will never be a great team. They're just a gallery of some big names.

Because both usually dodge the experimental friendlies like today's, because their spots are set in stone. When both had to play such a friendly against Cameroon before the last world cup the result was only a 2-2 as well, despite Löw being a lot more tame with his substitutions.

I believe it’s their choice of managers. They have this so called golden generation that was messed about by Wilmots and now Martinez. You think the English FA are bad?
they are not as half bad as the Belgian one.

Didn't know Carter-Vickers was American. Guess you learn something new every day.

Löw reacted very frosty when German TV presented him with a Neuer vs MAtS poll that went in favour of the latter 56:44%

Goretzka and Rudy played in midfield together at the Confed Cup, that went very well. How is that combo bound to disappoint? They both had terrible seasons, they should have treated this game like a final to show they deserve to be in the squad. Now they can sit on the bench together the next 6 weeks, that is training camp for them sitting on the bench together at Bayern the next 2 years until they are sold to Wolfsburg.

Sane had his 13th appearance for Germany (some subs in there tbf). His record shows just 1 assist vs the mighty Azerbaijan and no goals. At some point, he has to start perform or else he can stay home because at this point, he's a liability.

Rudiger and Sule played equally bad today. They know each other, they played with Kimmich and Hector at the Confed Cup as well and this game was their chance to show who is the worthy Boateng replacement.

Gundogan and Khedira were the only ones coming out of this mess with solid performances. I was not happy about Neuer, his distribution was very patchy and I prefer Ter Stegen for the WC.

Some of those players feel very entitled to get everything they want just because they are national team players for Germany.

He’s born in England but eligible for US too. He never got called for England so got snapped up by the US. There are a few in the youth system at the moment playing for both England and the US.
