Day 5: Sweden vs South Korea, Belgium vs Panama and Tunisia vs England (19H00)

Thought it was harsh on first replay but from the other angles it was clearly a foul.

They deserve this goal. They grew into the game after 20 min or so, just like Switzerland yesterday.

Ref had a good view I think. Pretty straight forward ruling for him, nothing left for a slow mo or different angle to clarify. I don't think VAR is relevant at all here.
It's a pity for England, but I don't even think it was a wrong call. Incredibly stupid to concede a penalty there, but his movement doesn't even look natural.

We best not lose this:nervous:

Game on.

Tunisia have looked bright whenever they attacked though. Walker's stupidity cost England.

Good attempt by Pickford to stop the pen, he got the positioning and direction right.

Oh dear that’s an obvious pen, his elbow stopped the guy getting to the ball. Brain dead from walker

That's never a pen tbh. England should still win comfortably here, just need to carry on what they were doing

Hopefully England won't go to pieces after this. They've played very well for half an hour.

The best mentality nations shake this off and win 3 or 4-1.

How can you say that's not a penalty?

He swung his arm around, instead of going for and heading the ball away and connects with the player in the face...

Seriously, how stupid can someone be in that situation?

It was a penalty, but the Tunisian player should also be booked for outrageous simulation. Went down like he had been shot.

Why has VAR not over ruled that? Jesus if that’s a penalty Smalling has got big problems next season.

Because it was a foul, and a pen.

And yes, if VAR is in the league we are fecked as Smalling will give away at least a pen a game.

That's a hideous decision. He's done what any defender would do there, put his arm out to protect the ball. Awful decision and he should have looked at the VAR at the very least.
