Neymar Jr | PSG | 2017/2018 performances

He literally did stamp on him if we are referring to the official meaning of the word. He even left a mark / imprint on his socks. If we associate a 'stamp' with some barbaric attack on someone who is grounded / unconscious then I agree. But it was a stamp.
He stepped on him, he stood on him, he didn't stamp on him.

I don’t think anyone is denying his talent, but come on you must see that he’s a bit of a wanker?
Yes he is a bit of a wanker, but he is an entertainer, who doesn't like a bit of comedy? This place is still hilarious whenever he plays.

Funny way of putting it. He's an annoying twat.

A buffoon and a comedian are entertainers, but one of them at least has a sense of self-respect.

A stamp is a stamp. That was in no way a stamp.

No, he didn't. How do you people not know what a stamp consists of?

stamp
stamp/
verb
  1. 1.
bring down (one's foot) heavily on the ground or on something on the ground.
Semantics. He stepped on him intentionally.
Funny enough, I think Neymar's reaction helped Layun's case.

Neymar’s reaction says it all. Like someone said about Pepe, show your kids that clip of you rolling around like that. Justify your reaction to them.
‘Daddy, you look like a soft twat acting like that’.

Entertainer? I die inside when i whatch Neymar and Suarez act like this.
You could not get further from fun and entertaining than this.

This is a "stamp" and should've been red card according to caf.

lol. Layun "stamped" ref's foot too. Ban him for life

He got battered in the first two games and the refs and fans equally didnt care. Today, he gets stepped on and again people care more about the reaction than what caused it.

Yea ideally, in a fair world Neymar should not react that way. But also the player shouldnt have stepped on him and should have got a red. If you complain about Neymars reaction, complain about the lack of action from the referee and the foul too.

Messi gets wacked a lot and hardly ever goes down or fake injury. How many people actually rate him for this? How often is this brought up as a plus in the Ronaldo/Messi debate? Never.

That wasn't a red card offence. But keep making excuses for him.

I sometimes wish every other player on every other team in the World Cup would react exactly like Neymar in every situation. Then we'd see how happy the viewing public would become after a while.

He doesn't get protection. He answers it with playacting.

No player should get special protection. If a foul is deemed to be of a certain severity, yellow or red cards will be given.

Excellent player - He played well in patches today and when he got going, the Mexicans started fouling him and Layun did stamp on Neymar.

However, Neymar (being Neymar) managed to make himself the villain despite the obvious stamp - that was hilarious as well as disgusting both the stamp and the following antics.

This. The Mexicans, especially Layun, provoked, insulted, pushed and foult him. They started this while thing by using dirty plays. Neymar reacted to it. I've never seen Neymar initiate something like that. These antics only start if his opponents began the whole drama. He even said the exact same thing between the lines in his after match interview ("He shouldn't have stepped on my ankle when I'm outside of the play. They talked very much and now they are going home.").

So I'm totally okay with it. I hate it when clearly less talented players use these "tools" in order to provoke better footballers. Materazzi against Zidane is probably the best known incident but Messi, Neymar, Ronaldo, Robben etc. were fouled, insulted and provoked so much that I'm completely on their side if something like this happens. Layun should've been sent off, that's what he deserved. Doublestandards at best. Talking and fouling all the time and then he's furious when Neymar overreacts after he stepped intentionally on his ankle. God I hate such players.

He gets the same amount of protection that every player on the pitch does. He's just a cheat.

No he doesnt. Watch the Swiss game and tell me how fair it is that the Swiss players do a merry go round and each foul him without looking at the ball, not getting any yellow cards. It is ridiculous. He is getting unfairly targeted and the refs let it happen.

Doesnt work in reality, especially this WC. Players get away with much more than usual. The refs are not card happy at all for the same fouls as in normal season

Oh, in that respect we agree. It's probably intended to keep as many games as possible 11 v 11, but there is always a risk of letting things go out of hand.

Right, so your theory is that refs the world over hold a collective personal grudge against Neymar and allow people to kick the shit out of him with no repercussions. It's one big giant referee conspiracy against Neymar.

Have a word with yourself.

No, they just dont give as much yellow cards at this WC as they should. Then the kicking would stop. It is as easy as it gets really. Not just Neymar, but everybody. But Neymar is the most fouled player and players get away with murder, as seen in the Brazil games.

Indeed, according to Opta, Neymar is the most victimised player.
