Spot on. I don't get it either. Many times the players will fecking run for 20 yards and as soon as they touch the ball he flags it/

It was though. Bar Rooney’s brilliant run in 04 before he got injured, all you did was launching long balls everywhere, which was criminal of the talent in the side.

People go on and on about how the CBs of this England side are all comfortable on the ball. Ferdinand were one of the best ball playing CB back then and Terry was hardly Smalling-esque. The big issue with those sides were shoehorning Lampard and Gerard together and none of them were willing or able to dictate from midfield.

For all the talk about England's tactics and ball playing players, the truth is we're a set piece team and barely created anything until a few long balls up to Sterling at the end of the half
 
Sterling doing his best Rashford impression. Had to pass that to either Kane or the slightly more difficult ball to Dele.
 
Sterling hasn’t been as bad as everyone is making out. Making good runs and unfortunate not to score.

Anyway I think the key thing with England is that they're average as feck. They're not shite, they're not good - they've always been meh.
