Brexited | the worst threads live the longest

Do you think there will be a Deal or No Deal?

  • Total voters
    194
  • Poll closed .
They need to go for something because if we stay within the pillars there will be nothing short of a revolution in this country however much people on here might think the Brexiters have changed their minds.

Ignore the people at your peril.
Yes Citizen Smith. Brexiteers are no more going to riot any more than Remainers are rioting now.

It's like the whole country is watching BREXIT axle-slide down a never-ending steel handrail just waiting for the moment that the board skids out and it lands squarely on its nuts, so we can laugh and get back on with our lives … but somehow, it just seems to keep going

I mean it's basically voluntarily jumping off a cliff-edge and bringing everyone else with you.

Most if not all voted for a party with eurosceptic leaders but the tory voters can just suffer for my enjoyment
This is an over simplified view. There are large areas of the country with seats that are a 2 horse race. Where voting Lib Dem or Green is a vote for the Tories. The idea that people should waste their vote just to make a point is ridiculous and harmful to the country.

Also if a vote of no confidence is called I'm not convinced that it would even be in Labours best interest to help oust May.

She'd be a goner at some point anyway and her replacement is likely to be a hard brexiteer.

It's a weird one for them. She's a handy lame duck PM to have and is in the parties best interests at this point if they want a soft Brexit - still, a lot of members will no doubt smell blood and the party may come across as weak and ineffective if they allow her to stay on. Difficult one in regards to how they should play it.

Well its a good job the country is in safe hands right now then

If there's no confidence vote, is this basically a way for Davis and Boris to pretend they have principles by standing down, while not having to effect any genuine change by implementing a Brexit they know won't work?

It's not but a futile vote for someone who has no chance of apposing the Tories which ends up giving an extra seat to the Tories is just a wasted gesture that has the negative affect of strengthening this government.

This has been the plan all along.

The problem with a vote of No confidence is that it probably ends and chance of a deal as any leadership vote would take past the deadline to conclude.

If everyone is on the same page you can get anyone elected in place of the 2 main parties, it's just easier to use the excuse of No Point.

Worded that poorly - meant if there's not a no confidence vote and May soldiers on, Boris/Davis and co basically get to slither out of this mess without having to take any responsibility for it.

Past century or so has demonstrated that's not the case. Almost impossible while we have FPTP.

I voted remain. But remain didn't win and leave did win. The moral high ground is theirs. If you totally ignore them with some line that "you didn't know what you were voting for", you'll be asking for trouble.

So some way needs to be found and it won't be another referendum

Jesus Christ. Can you imagine if at this stage of negotiations, with deadlines looming on the horizon, we (they) decide to spend two months fecking about electing a new leader.

Can see Batten resigning and Farage taking over UKIP again. feck knows what else he can even attempt to do.
