Premier League Gameweek 2 fixtures (18th - 20th August 2018)

Arsenal should go for the kill second half. Bring in Torreira and Lacazette and Chelsea will fold, that extra bite and drive in midfield combined with another player with good movement against a defence which at the moment is utterly clueless.

Text my Arsenal supporting mate after 13 minutes telling him this could become embarrassing for them as Chelsea were all over them. Half time Arsenal should have about 5. How they missed those 2 easy chances who knows.

Great game for the neutral, neither side can defend. Smalling would walk in to this Arsenal side and probably become captain. Shocking display from both sets of CB’s

You're basing that on what?
Well 4 and 2 seasons ago they won the title, last season we finished ahead of them but they beat us in the fa cup final, and then on paper they have a better side then we do. Obviously takes a bit to adapt, not to mention having players like Hazard and Kavacic on the bench... and I doubt it'll take him long to realize David Luiz is a joke. Anyway, we'll see. Think their attack will be good enough in the long run this season to keep them up there.

Bellerin should play as right winger, did well for both goals.

Keep him away from his own box as much as possible.

Kante playing further forward is a waste of his talents in my opinion. He's a good player so won't look poor there but not getting the best out of him.

This Chelsea defence is operating with such a different style to what they did under the last two full time managers so you can see why they're stuggling.

Arsenal play quite similar to under Wenger to be honest.

Chelsea have become Arsenal vol 2. They'll score plenty and concede plenty as well. Gone are the days when Chelsea were known for their stony defense. This should be fun season.

Few things.

Far too early to judge any side or signing yet.

both these sides are nowhere near the level both managers want them.

Smalling would get killed in a high line setup.

Arsenal are playing some lovely stuff in attack. Cutting Chelsea part. Their defence on the other hand...

Look how many players attack the box at any given moment (fullbacks, midfielders...). We can barely get 2 or 3 player forward at the same time. No wonder our attack is generally subpar.

What can the defenders do when the line is held at the half line. Both teams are playing with suicidal high lines and pressing each other. Its going to be a toss up who wins this. Hopefully we can bring on Laca and Torreira to clinch it for us.

Disagree. Hazard aside, their attack on paper isn't particularly impressive, they have a great midfield but a pretty shambolic defence. Azpilicueta is their only defender who I actually rate .. and then you have a better keeper.

Very entertaining game. Both teams playing some great stuff in attack, and can't defend worth a shit.

That miss seemed to lit a fire in Mkhi, was superb the last 10 minutes.

Jorginho will take some adjusting, but he will be quality IMO when he settles.

Really? Smalling can turn and chase, he's got pace for a tall guy and reads the game rather well. He can struggle in small tight spaces when around the box because he's not quick, but fast in the open to close down or make up ground.

Don't worry...it'll start all over again tomorrow when Shitty are 7-0 up at half time. And resume again on Monday when the Dippers put 4 past Palace.
I just can't stand the media at the moment and for a couple of years actually.

Everything United do isn't good enough, our football is shit, manager is horrible, players don't care enough.

Even when we beat City I'm pretty sure there were couple of negative reports about United. We were 2nd last season, it was our best season after Fergie retired but still it was like we finished 18th and relegated.

Liverpool play this excellent fluid football yet win feck all, their manager is a maniac but they are the best team ever according to the media.

This season Chelsea under a new manager win a game against awful Huddersfield and are immediately the favourites to push City to the title.

Weird to see a Tottenham fan be more realistic about United than a United fan

It's all about balance. And remind me again who scored United's second goal against Leicester?

Our football could be better and with more cutting edge, but there are different ways to play football and it would be boring if everyone played exactly the same way.

At least both of these teams are attacking. Their problems are easier to solve imo. If it was us I'm pretty certain we'd be playing for the 0-0. Scoring goals is the hardest thing to do.

It's easy to score goals when your setup ignores the basic concepts of defence. Chelsea don't look poor at the back because of available personnel

Jorginho is basically Carrick without the defensive intelligence. That show for me how good Michael was

You can clearly see these are two teams with two new managers. Yes, Arsenal have been poor defensively for a while, but they need to get used to playing the high line. Same with Chelsea, who were very different under Conte and Mourinho.

This won't happen overnight. They will need time for it to happen.

Very entertaining game, mind. All of Arsenal's chances have been completely identical.

Looking forward to the second half.

You think so? Hazard and Willian walk into our side (lukaku as striker), as do Jorginho and Kante (alongside Pogba in a 3). Think they'll look much better at the back with a simple switch of Christensen in for David Luiz as well. Also not like United has fantastic personnel at the back... just having the best goalkeeper in the world and some defensive tactics make up for it. On paper though, most would say Alonso > Shaw or Young, most would say Azpilicueta better then anyone we have in any of the positions, while not sure there is anyone who stands out at center back.

If I were playing Football Manager and my team played like Arsenal, I would've hit my laptop and rage quit by now.

William and Pedro have been shocking defensively, both Chelsea full backs are virtually defending both the Arsenal full backs and wingers with William and Pedro not tracking the overlapping runs at all. Might be Sarri tactics because both are known for their work rate.

Maybe Sarri was assuming Iwobi and Mhiki would be cutting in certainly more rather than pushing out wide and therefore instructed William and Pedro to sit centrally in defense to counter that. Either way, Arsenal have ripped them out wide and should be winning by 3 goals at least.

Torreira on for Xhaka. Good change. Can see Arse winning this now if Sarri doesn't take of Luiz for a defender and/or put on Hazard/Kovacic.
