I certainly agree with the second point, and I agree to an extent with the first but it must also be said that, albeit through the media, Rashford himself has made some pretty unconvincing noises about his situation. I don't mind if he's frustrated, indeed it could be argued it's essential for a young player to be constantly hungry for more, but I hope he understands he must take a portion of the blame for his perceived slowing of progress. He had chances last season which he didn't take, which is by no means the end of the world for a 20 year old, but that's on him.
That is my biggest concern with the United squad at the moment and not just Rashford. There will always be a lot of negative press around United and Fergie was brilliant at creating an "us against them" siege mentality.
The current trend is the press stories that "Jose's dour tactics stifle his attacking players". In the Fergie era it wouldn't bother me at all because the players would come out and say the right thing and you could tell the squad was all pulling in the same direction and was behind the manager.
Now, there are a lot of unconvincing noises from players like Pogba, Rashford and Martial. All players who have had some horrendously bad games and make inexplicably bad decisions on the pitch.
From the outside it is hard to tell whether the players' poor form is due to the lack of fluidity in attack or the lack of fluidity due to players' poor form but there is certainly no major attempt from the players to rubbish the media reports and they seem more than happy to let Jose take the blame for their poor performances. From a squad unity perspective, that is extremely worrying.
