  • I just checked that isn't an artificial pitch. It doesn't half look & play like one.

Fortunate to win, for me, Clive. I think a draw would have been fair.

Not sure how we were still in it at HT.

Good & needed result though, certainly.

Who the hell is Clive?
And we deserved to win that. We didn't get lucky. We missed 3 x one on ones and we still won that match, which says it all.

No sign of Lukaku, hopefully Matic is next. How Herrera doesn't get games ahead of him is criminal.

We started the game very poorly but after first 20-30 mins we played really well. We play so well without Lukaku by keeping the ball on the ground, playing the ball behind defense and all that.

Glad we won the game. Missed so many easy chances.

I will miss Jose when we sack him. He's often very entertaining and interesting in interviews, if not on the pitch.

After the last minute goal by Chelsea, we deserve to score one on the last minute.

I missed the first 30mins thankfully (going by the comments).

Good game, played well in the second and deserved the win.

We're still labored in attack and offer nothing from the right, though.

Lindelof has been very good lately. I am starting to like him.

It comes down to the quote I think Paolo Maldini said once (and I like it):

'If I have to tackle, I have already made a mistake'

The result is good an 'all, but...we shouldn't be needing to get injury time winners against the likes of Bournemouth, the whole reason we were in that situation was down to a dreadful first half. We are our own worst enemies with slow starts.

That said, great 2nd half and we deserved it overall I think.

Clive Tyldesley.

Could have been out of the game before we got our act together but we looked good in the second half with some really nice build up, just a shame the finishing wasn't of the same level. Last minute winners always feel good so a positive start to a very tough week, we can't afford to start the other games like we did this one or it could be nasty.

YES!!! More of that please. Win or lose, that was the United I love. Loads of chances and a few heart attacks in between. When I watch that, I never want to see this Lukaku again. He's like a lump of blancmange in the middle of your roast dinner. Now if he comes back fit and firing and about a stone lighter, then maybe. But right now, no chance. And Matic also. Although at least he got better.

Forgetable first half. Second half were much better once Herrera came on and Pogba is pushed to advance position. We don't have much options at the center forward to receive the ball once Martial or Sanchez drifted wide in the first half. Our attacks are easy to deal with. Pogba was there more in second half and this created some problems for Bournemouth CBs. That was the different for me. Matic had a poor game and so as our defense.

Jose just come out post match saying they prepared all week to start fast and press so given how we did start, whose at fault for that?

Its no coincidence this is happening most games, are players just scared stepping out on the pitch?

Gald to get that win! Phew. We make it so hard for ourselves. Just when I thought it's going to be another week of languishing in 10th. Glad we won and moved up a bit.

Hopefully that build some more momentum. At this point, I'm only hoping we are in touching distance (8-10 points) from the top in Jan. If we get a good CB in - the second half could look different.

Nice 2nd half performance, good to see Rashford scoring

Should give his shodded confidence a big boost! Especially the timing of the goal. Much better performance than anything Lukaku has done this season.
Shaw's miss was the worst. He had so much time and picked the worst option - straight at the keeper.
Left back's shooting! But he had a good game.

Really good 2nd half and fantastic win in the end. Great to see De Gea getting to celebrate like he did after the 2nd goal as well.
But why do we look like a team that aren't even trying in the first half and then come out as 11 (ish) new players in the 2nd half? It's been too many games now for it to be a coincidence.

Scholes saying we need to stop coming out with a defensive mindset. When is Mourinho going to realise that. Just attack! Give the other team something to worry about. At the moment, we let teams settle down and start playing with confidence. Have to stop that.

Scholes really ought to stop criticism for a few weeks. At least he should acknowledge that we are playing better than at the beginning of tge season.

Deserved it in the end. Probably our most Jekyll and Hyde performance of the season in a season characterised by them. Need to get going faster in games, giving some teams a one or two goal lead will be unrecoverable.

He wasn't criticising. Just saying what most of us have been = which is we're better at attacking so we need to have that mindset from the beginning of the game.
I think he was pleased with our 2nd half.

I always feel hungry after watching this team. They stress me out. The first thirty minutes, as usual, was so poor...so poor.

Started really poorly, as per the majority of matches this season, were wide open at times and midfield cover and defence went AWOL for the majority of the first half hour.

Gradually improved, after Martial scored played better and dominated the second half.
Martial Pogba DDG and Herrera the pick. Thought Smalling and Matic had poor games on the whole.

Yet again we are reactive instead of proactive and were fortunate to survive the first half and eventually get the win.

Shit start as seems to be our go to move these days, but showed a little something after 30 minutes of being quite frankly fecking dreadful. Second half once again playing better.

Defensively we were shit. Wayward passes, no pressing, no drive to get anything. Didn’t even know pogba was on the pitch during the first half.

Things that stood out to me:

Matic needs a rest because he is woeful at the moment. I think he still has something to give us, but not if he keeps being played into the ground as he is.

Smalling... wtf was said more than once about his decision making.

Shaw, as an attacking left back maybe start practicing shooting? If he can fight his way back into the team learning the game better I think he can go even further and make goals apart of his game as well.

Herrea, I think showed why he deserves to be heavily considered for a starting role.

Played really well after a dreadful 1st half hour. We look a proper team when we attack with pace, hope Mourinho doesn’t feck about with selection and plays the same 11 ( injuries/suspensions aside ) for a good few games.
I really don't want Lukaku back, he slows the side down and gives the ball away too cheaply. Unless he is scoring, he adds nothing to the team.
Defence needs a big overall and Matic looks knackered every time i see him play.

We’ve had patches of brilliant football in the last few weeks and the second half today was another example.

If we can sort the defence out and start matches on the front foot then there are reasons to be positive.

Knew they'd be a late goal one way or the other

Didn't like the subs today though, moving Sanchez from the CF position in place of Rashford was a strange one

The guy who scored the winner?

Such a Jekyll and Hyde team. Abysmal first half where we were truly shocking defensively but the second half was terrific and even though Bournemouth would've deserved a point, we just about shaded it overall. A 90 minute performance like that is our next step but we're slowly but surely moving up the table.

How did we play? Completely missed it. Did not get to sleep till seven in the morning.

Credit where its due, after an abysmal start (yet again) we were very good 2nd half and deserved the win. We played some good football down there in the second half. Pogba was good for the most part, Herrera excellent when he came on, Martial hit and miss. Sanchez doesnt look like a top-class footballer anymore, his control has completely disappeared. Saying that, he was better as a striker than Rom has been lately so I reckon we should persist with him for now.

Important win.

I think our slow starts are due to Jose's reactive tactics. He's always emphasized more on nullifying the opposition, than expressing yourself straightaway, and it shows. We start nervy, as if we're afraid to miss an instruction, and then concede. Then we try and attack and play more naturally and instinctively, and we get better. I don't see this improving.

Edit: Mou's post match cancels out my theory above. So strange.

Martial is a bright light. Surprising what the manager's trust, a run of games, and a little confidence can do to young promising attackers. He's nailed that LW for himself again, after being wrongfully displaced by Sanchez. Rashford needs a consistent position, too, but I don't see where it would be. He was hot and cold this game, missing that sitter and displaying poor touch, but he redeemed himself with that scrappy goal at the end. Sanchez unsurprisingly did very well when he had mobility all around him, he is a sort of player who can thrive with movement in the final third, and Jose's static attacks haven't helped him at all. He needs some confidence, too.

Fred is yet to convince me - he looks too lightweight to be a holding mid, too erratic in his passing to be a playmaker, and lacks the decision making of a box to box, despite his movement, tenacity and attitude. Also, I don't think Matic deserves the criticism coming his way. He's the only positionally consistent midfielder in our side, and helps keep our shape even when the rest of the team is in chaos. Also, his strength in shielding the ball and finding a pass cannot be overstated.

Our defence is an absolute mess barring De Gea. While Lindelof is improving with his passing from the deep and positioning in general, he has still no chemistry with the painfully average Smalling. Young is doing great at right back for now, but it is evident that he leaves spaces behind. Shaw seems to be relaxing a little bit after his new contract, he's turning in 6/10s and 7/10s as opposed to 8s and 9s earlier in the season.

DDG is god, and MOTM for me.

Getting a bit predictable now. First half bad, second half good. We know teams like Bournemouth are going to come out and play at 100mph for the first 20 minutes or so, but we don't seem equipped to combat this. Whether it's the coaching or the players, I don't know but once we settle down and organize, we usually get control back. We badly need a leader at the back to keep the defence in shape.

It’s the midfield that needs to protect the defense better. That and the fullbacks which need upgrading.

After a shaky 15 mins we played really well for the rest of the match. I'm buzzing we won on my b'day!

Herrera was quality when he came on.

Anyone got a highlight for the Young free kick and ensuing schmozzle with the blocks off the line? Someone's managed to put a 5 minutes HL package together and not include that but include Martial having a cross catched by Begovic.
