Would be a miracle to finish top four: Mourinho

Thing is, as much as I think Woodward is an incompetent feckwit and Jose has to go. If I'm Woodward and sick of Jose's self destructive antics I wouldn't be sacking him and giving him that big payoff. I wouldn't be signing any players he wants. I'd be waiting for him to drag the club out of the top four to sack him cheaply.

Of course if we're talking about what's in the clubs best interests it's obviously better to get the next manager properly assessed and lined up. Get rid of Jose regardless of expense. Get the new manager in and get after their transfer targets starting in January.

We're going to end up wasting next season as well just trying to claw our way back from this catastrophe of a squad. Will probably take years to get rid of Lukaku, and Matic will end up running down his contract. So will Young if he's given a new deal.

The squad isn't a catastrophe, we finished 2nd last season and it's still a top 4 squad. There's plenty of plenty of people to get rid of throughout the club but we're not starting from scratch. Just need investment to challenge properly.

Can Woody for once act like a big club CEO who doesn't take non sense from out of depth manager?

Put football first for once and worry about the compensation later. Just sack the dull dinosaur manager already!

Or that the milk has to be hand squeezed from the finest cattle by supermodel virgin princess triplets.
Only the cattle would be benched in favour of giraffes.

He can say what he likes as long as he keeps the pressure up on the board and owners.

It would me a miracle with an incompetent manager in charge who threw in the towel before the season even started.

In some ways I hope he is here until the end of the season, his ego won’t be able to handle being worse than Moyes and he will be so toxic a lot of teams won’t go near him.

Woodward should get some balls hire a DOF without consulting him, tell him his budget in January is zero and club will be selling players. If he doesn’t like it he can take a reduced pay off, call his bluff he doesn’t want to be here until the end of the season.

The most important thing in Mourinho's professional life: 'recognition'. Now he wants it in advance of the 'achievement' of securing a top four place.

It seems obvious to me that he wants out, he’s loaded the gun but that fecking useless bag of shit Woodward refuses to pull the trigger. What a fecking shower of shit they’ve made this club look.
Woodwards job is probably tied to this. You don't get to oversee three huge errors of judgement at his level. If Jose is sacked Woodward will no doubt be replaced by the Glazers. The next man in will be responsible for the next manager. That's what I'm expecting.

Unfortunately you've been living under a rock and haven't realised Woodward has brought in around 62 sponsors during the same time.

Not enough quality to finish 4th? This fool spent 420m in 5 windows. Sacking him would be the best money spent. Plenty of managers out there could get this squad into the top 4. When you persist in playing matic and fellaini then you disable any mobility and you are bound to lose. Jose has lost the plot, any credibility is going fast.

We can talk about what we spent but before he came we stagnated and let other teams buy players we should have got and since Sir Alex retired our transfer strategy has been a mess and a bit part of the money spent is on 2/3 players. | think it's an impossible job. To the average fan, Young and Valencia are NOT full backs. We're still looking for balance in central midfield and we have no constant wing threat on either side. We did well to finish second last season with this group and when you seemingly don't back the manager in the transfer window...your asking for problems. Jose has probably unsettled the defenders but there have been problems for a long time. because for a big team, we give so many chances away that are avoidable. The club needs to sell and it needs to buy but it's getting harder and harder with these oil clubs and owners who talk about value.

2nd place last season is as good as it gets. We don't have the squad and saying what we spent is ignoring what others have spent and because of others that 450 odd has not gone as far as it would have in the past. Yes Joses made mistakes but this group have shown they can go away and beat Juventus but they don't have the hunger over games at the minute to be consistant and this could be what the club needed. Someone needs to stop blowing smoke up peoples asses. The truth is we need to look at the things clearly. There's big expectation on rashford/Martial at a time other areas are malfunctioning. Even Lukakus struggling, a man who have proven he can score goals and be productive. Something needs to change.

If we don't want to sack him, surely we can redefine his duties? Can he make tea? If he doesn't like it, he can forego the compensation and quit.

We can bring in another manager to do the management bit that he is failing so badly at.

I'd love this.

This is just sad that he's still here. The man himself has forfeited the criteria on which his job depends but we're going to wait for mathematical confirmation far away in 5 months. The running of the club boils my blood

Moyes and LVG did manage us in terrible ways, but at least they didn't give up. LVG had the most dull football ever, but we managed to fight and win the FA cup and almost get top 4 in the end. Right to fire him no doubt. I guess under Moyes it just got worse and worse too, but he tried at least and we did put up a fight against Bayern in the champions league. Right now Mourinho has just given up. Just bloody fire him already!

I'd love this.

Yes that make sense. Although still I think we would better off to pay him than keep him around the club with his negative influence right now. Or just send him to a bloody psychologist and see if he can be fixed ;).

Mourinho and Ed Woodward are pretty much playing a game of chicken with the 20 something million euros at stake.

It'll probably happen a lot sooner than in 5 months at the rate we are nosediving right now.

I doubt it, I hope I'm wrong but I feel he would have been sacked already if that was the case. They don't want to pay him off.

Legit question: what exactly is written in contracts for managers and players that would make this impossible? Or is it possible, but no club would do it because of the bad rep it would give?

I would love it if Lukaku was told to man the Manchester Fan store for example, or if Pogba was asked to sell popcorn to fans in the stadium.

It's really a miracle if we finish top 4 with Jose as a manager. Taking a dump on whole squad now.

What I mean is that it'll become mathematically impossible for us to finish top 4 a lot sooner than 5 months from now.. :(

Funny how Jose fans still defend him when he shits on club at every given chance. It feels like some undercover op by Russian mafia.

Wish some players come out with statements like 'it would be miracle if we finish top 4 with this dinosaur in charge'.

3rd season here, 400m spent, highest paid manager, most expensive squad in the league (3rd most expensive in the world)

Would be a miracle to finish top 4 in the league.

Yeh right.

Go fire yourself, Mourinho.

Oh the defining moment against Arsenal this may decide whether United are getting 4th spot now, in the long run or not further and further away hold your breathe... Could pull it off but there's fear

He's right, as long as he remains in charge we are absolutely fecked and destined for failure.

I doubt it, I hope I'm wrong but I feel he would have been sacked already if that was the case. They don't want to pay him off.
I think the actual money to pay Mourhino off is the not the issue. (15-20m for a club like Utd is nothing). I just think they hate the man so much, they dont want to pay to him.

If there was any doubt about it, now it's all clear he wants the sack.

Don't tell that to his worshipers. He is the only one who wants the best for the club. Rest all are mercenaries.

One of few managers I wouldn't be against boo'ing when he returns to Old Trafford. He's shit on the club from one day one, in public as well. Never heard another manager speak of their own club in such a way. Let alone use it as a mask to cover your own failings. The man is just doing damage limitation for his next job. The more he can blame others, in his mind, the easier it is for him say "look it wasn't me, I said so from the start". The sad thing is, his behaviour won't exclude him from the top jobs in the future. Just look how clubs fall over themselves to hire managers like Moyes.

Are you trolling?

Nope. I'm just not blind

I wouldn't be surprised to see us in 10th or 11th over Christmas.

Anyone suggesting otherwise obviously hasn't watched us this season, didn't see a much better Chelsea team from 3 years ago or, they massively overrate our players and Mourinho's management skills these days

Moyes and Van Gaal were sacked when they couldn't mathematically finish 4th anymore. I'd like to think it wouldn't come to that before we cut him loose.
