Ole just said in the Sky Sports post match interview: "I'm not here to talk about myself".

Could he be any more opposite to Mourinho, in a good way

He's so lovely:drool:

Wish I could enjoy this win, Spurs should've gotten 10 goals. Overly reliant on De Gea it's ridiculous, we got absolutely destroyed in the second half. Ugh, I didn't expect us to play prime Fergie football but at least play on the same level as them.

Glad you enjoyed the win then...

Well, to be fair, I also can't understand how simply replacing a manager has made him play better. I mean, sure, he's playing higher up the pitch, has freedom to move about the pitch, gets to trust in his own intelligence, and isn't being called a cnut by his boss but I don't think any of those are the reason. Clearly he's just unprofessional.

De Gea is ludicrously good. I don't think we'd have kept a clean sheet if we had any other keeper in the world in net.

We were the better team for half of the game?

We only started to lose our rag towards the end of the game where the home side was going it at it hammer and tongs, which is to be expected.

For most of the game we were very competitive and despite the quality deficit (their team is superior to ours) - I felt we showed the flair and grit, one expects of a United side and got stuck in throughout.

So proud of the lads today, was nervous as feck throughout but De God was imperious in the goalkeeping department.

Loris made three brilliant saves from Pogba alone in that second half. Truth is we should have had that game out of sight well before Spurs came on strong in last 25 minutes.

Yep. Different day maybe one of those finds its way in and it's 2-0 and it's a completely different feel at the end. It's why I disagree with the people saying "we were shite in the 2nd half", we had a handful of chances where we could have gone up 2-0. Complete shite would have had us looking clueless and creating no chances.

Very important win and the first big test for Solskjaer which I'm happy to say he passed. At the moment we're still leaking chances but I'll hold back with any scathing criticism until Smalling's back. It's nice to see that Ole knows his best team, the midfield and attack pick themselves with the occasional rotation in the back 4.

Pogba's been unbelievable since the managerial change, no one can convince me he's not the best passer in the league, he's an excellent player. Herrera is the engine of this team, can't overstate his importance enough. I keep seeing comments about how DDG's saves were all straight at him, that's just because he's got phenomenal positioning, one of his best attributes that always gets overlooked. People keep harping on about their chances but it's not we didn't have our own 11 shots on target v 8, on another day we also could've had 3 or 4.

We covered every inch of the pitch today, another tireless effort, you can tell all the players want to win. For a team, only 6 games into a new manager there feels like there's so much potential. Couple more solid defensive additions and I'd be very happy with the shape of the squad.

Best performance of the season, de gea was unbelievable, Pogba was sublime.
Are we really back??

We showed great resilience seeing as our defence isn't the best but the lads dug in. Great to see.

Great first half, terrible second.

Lucky not to get equalized if not lose.

It was so fun watching the team challenge in the first half. Watching us defend like a relegation candidate in the 2nd ruined it all.
Then you'll never be happy watching United.

Spurs are a very good side. You can't expect to go there and boss the game for 90 minutes. We were the better side for the first hour and should have been 2-0 up. Ole has barely had any time to properly with with the players. He and Phelan have done very well to have made the difference they have so quickly but there is obviously going to be work still to do and players who need to be changed.

Just enjoy that we won away against a very good team.

I mean this in a good way, but did Ole just pull a Mourinho, but successfully.

Sit back, hit on counter, grab a goal, soak up pressure, win 1-nil.

Poch just said the second-half performance is one of the best from Spurs in his time. Hard to argue, they really threw everything at us. If they'd won we couldn't argue.

Saw this on the bbc website:

James Probert: 3 things are guaranteed in life: 1) you pay taxes 2) you die 3) Spurs bottling it every season.

:lol::lol:

Spurs still got to play Chelsea they'll be knackered and with little squad depth and seeing injuries are starting to pile up for them I think we should be looking at 3rd as a realistic target now with a bit of luck. However, I'm just happy we finally look like a team.

Overall: Arguably the best team the first 55 minutes. After this Tottenham ran the game, and i think partly this was due to our players were running out of gas. The other part was Poch adjusting and started overloading on our left side. When we tried to press them there, they played in the middle with loads of space. Lucky to win all in all, but it was not like we did not have our chances either.

Notable performances:
DDG: Give him the contract Sanchez is on.
Herrera: Played brilliant off the ball and around our own box. Smart involvments going forward.
Lindelof: Good performance again.
Pogba: Looked tired after 55 minutes when we started to drop. Worked more defensively in this than the previous games and it showed.
Lukaku: Played for 25 minutes, looked tired after 5. Did not press, run or win any duels of note. Can't see him starting any important matches in the near future unless we get a number of injuries.

You forgot to put home in inverted commas.

We just lost all interest in playing football in the last 10 minutes and sat back completely. Although we were bailed out by De Gea but I think a better defence should be a top priority in the next window.

De Gea an absolute loon. THE BEST IN THE WORLD by a fair margin. OGS passes his first real test.

We spent drastically more time attacking than you'd see with the famous Mourinho big game tactics.

It’s not hard to argue really because it’s meaningless as they lost the match.

Juventus did the same last season too! Buffon and Chiellini celebrated each clearance..

Potch thinks that performance was the best of his time at Spurs.
I thought that too and been saying it in other threads that any other team on the planet would have left Wembley empty handed today, they were incredibly up for it. Makes it extra sweet.

First half we were excellent, not just on the counter but in general possession and with the press, worthily went in 1-0 up. In th3e 2nd half they came out flying and if not for De Gea would have gotten at least a point, but we dug in defensively as a unit, we still tried to counter and use the ball productively when we had it, and in truth we could have scored another couple ourselves, great stuff, nerve wracking, but great none the less.

Which shows why it's crazy that some posters on here are saying they didn't enjoy that win.

Absolutely buzzing. Bring on City and Liverpool

My initial thoughts:

A terrific result.

A reminder that we have to plenty of work to do. Our front three (plus Pogba) is exciting but as a unit we couldn't match them in our general play.

De Gea is other worldly.

Jones and Matic are relics.

I actually thought Matic wasn't too bad. Much improved since the change of manager. He does keep going when others start to tire.

Exactly. Someone mentioned in 2nd page that our lads worked really hard to make sure De Gea didn't have to face any shots with zero pressure and apart from Delle Alli's 1 v 1... we were generally quite close in terms of pressure. Obviously our defence is still a shambles IMO but the fact their heart is in the right place and they're working their socks off again means we will pick up more points than lose and it should hopefully be enough to get top 4.

I never felt that Spurs were ever completely just walking through our defence and getting open shots at goal, there was always an air of urgency to their attack as they were anxious about us getting back and sticking a foot in. Also good pressing in the front three area too. Only person who was very loose defensively was Pogba IMO as he let Eriksen run the show far too much.
