I know right? We've had 6 years of pure rubbish. I watched bottom of league clashes and felt they played better football than us many, many times. We literally have the best fans out of all the big clubs in world football. Our fans have an extremely high threshold for mediocrity. The kind of mediocrity we’ve tolerated from both managers and players alike far surpasses what they would get at other clubs.
I have absolutely no problem with people groaning when they see a player on 250k a week let the ball bounce in front of him rather than try and head it on for an on running team mate. Or who tries to trap the ball and ends up slicing it out of play. Or who has an obsession with step-overs but leaves the ball behind every single time he tries them. Or just generally looking like a reluctant stand-in for a pub team whether the ball is near him or not.
That certainly isn't being spoilt.
We already hear the groans from the fans when his touch lets him down but very little for the other players whos touch let them down.
think there is a big difference between his touch letting him down vs others. His are more frequent and on just very basic plays that any professional player should be able to make in their sleep.
So our fans are the worst because they laughed at some memes for a player who only joined us last season and after he leaves will have zero connection with the club, and so far has done nothing remarkable here to remember him for ?
He does have a bad touch at times.
I will not deny it.
But sometimes it can be over exaggerated.
I have no problem with people posting very funny memes like the one where he fell over the ball and injured himselfits the nitpicking at every little thing he does i cant stand.
Like the mistimed header, and the video where he failed to control the ball.
You have never been to other team’s forum, have you?I said some of the worst.
We dont have the worst fans.
I would give that crown to Millwall but we do have some right toxic people who claim to "support" us.
We have seen it with Nani and Fellaini getting booed by their own fans.
Martial fans and Rashford fans hating on their lovechilds rival and none being objective.
Kagawa fans vs Rooney fans.

The scapegoating of Fellaini and Lukaku.
I'm sure I remember people posting stats when we signed him about him being an outlier - in terms of workrate - when he was at Everton. Covering less ground per game than almost any other player in the league? Could be wrong but that's my memory of it anyway. At the time I hoped that Mourinho (and/or the chance to finally play for a "big club") would light a fire under his arse and have him working as hard as any other top PL striker. Now I'll admit I haven't seen any recent stats but he sure does look like a player who isn't covering the same amount of ground as his peers in any given game.
Which means either he really is choosing not to work as hard as his team-mates on his cardio before games and putting the effort in during them (i.e. he's lazy) or there's some sort of physical/physiological reason behind his lack of stamina. If we go with the latter scenario, why the hell did he decide to bulk up before the world cup, as that was always going to have a detrimental effect on his stamina? And why didn't the club intervene? It's all very confusing tbh.
Obviously, ignore all the above if there any stats confirming that he runs as far the likes of Kane, Aguero, Aubameyang etc. Does anyone know where we could find these stats?
It probably doesn't sound a lot but 10-15% at the top level can be the difference between a good game and an awful one. Disappointingly he's factually a very, very lazy player; irrespective of people trying to silence that by crying "racist".
You mean the game that returned the same 5 pages of moaning and dumb GIFs as any other game before and since? The away game to Arsenal is the only game I think he's played well in.
Say what nowUsually im not one for censorship on forums but mods i think we should implement a ban on these stupid gifs and videos taking the piss out of Lukaku.
Its not only tiring but i would go as far as to say its verging on bullying now.
You could make these gifs about any outfield player on our team. Even our best player/players but its always Lukaku that gets it and its wrong.
Adds nothing to the discussion and a lot of its nitpicking and reaching.
Were posting videos of him mistiming headers now.

Welcome to the caf.I want Lukaku sold and I never wanted him here but he really wasn't that bad today, had some nice turns and caused them problems. Also ran about a bit more off the ball.
Swear most of you just pick a narrative and let that inform how you watch and judge a match. Just as it was with Matic and I've seen the same with Young recently.
Don't know how bad they were elsewhere in the world but the Kagawa FC in Thailand made me stop caring about him after the 2-2 draw with Spurs in 2013.I said some of the worst.

I think Fellaini was a better Plan B, in the last 15 minutes of a match, against stubborn defences.
Lukaku isn't particularly good in the air or strong. I've seen him get dispossessed by defenders who are considerably lighter/smaller than him.
We paid 85mil€ for him, he's one of the highest paid players and what are we getting in return? A shxxfest of performances since the start of the season. Just look at this sxxt
And it's not just season. Last season he fecked us against city where he literally gifted them 2 goals, missed a ton of chances when it mattered the most - Sevilla...
If he doesn't drasticly improve till the end of the season i hope we get rid cause he's making utd look like a laughing stock.
100 percent the boos will come soon.

For what its worth on current form i dont think he has done enough for our starting 11 but people need to stop making him a scapegoat and posting the stupid gifs.

There’s definitely a racial stereotype of black players that is prevalent in English football, the ‘big unit, machine, hardworking, beastly’ one, but ‘lazy’ doesn’t apply, especially at United. We didn’t call even Kleberson lazy, Djemba twins lazy, Nani lazy (inconsistent and defensively suspect, yes, many did), or Ashley Young, or Valencia, or Rio, or Evra (even when he stopped tracking back as his stamina declined with age).
If 2/3 of the fan base (a conservative estimate) agree that Lukaku is lazy, then maybe he is, both with the naked eyes and statistics. Call it ‘less active’ if that goes down easier, but the description has nothing to do with racial stereotypes. We used to pull our hairs out over Berbatov too.
We also have some of the most arrogant and self-righteous fans in football. Fans who make an effort to belittle others who have anything negative to say, fans who take glee in going against the general consensus simply to prove they are better fans. The Ferguson era made some of our fans believe we were a special club above all others, that we operated on a higher level and were exempt from things every other club done, such as booing players.100 percent the boos will come soon.

There's nothing wrong with booing a player. It's a fecking boo to voice displeasure at a performance, it's not bullying or abuse or violence. Show some perspective for crying out loud. There's nothing wrong with being criticial of our players, because I'll tell you something the Ferguson era taught me; the standards at Manchester United are sky high, and accepting mediocrity, and lazy players should never be tolerated. That to me is more important than getting your knickers in a twist about criticising Lukaku for being shite. Get your priorities in order and start concerning yourself about the fact we have a £75m striker who is as useful as a paperweight, instead of desperately trying to belittle other people for discussing it in his player performance thread.
Im gonna stop defending him soon.
I can see it.
For me he was actually decent, linked up well and was great for the penalty but his movement is shocking, his lack of enthusiasm is pathetic and pressing is the worst ive ever seen from a Manchester United player.
Hes actually more immobile than Berbatov and a 30 something year old Zlatan.
I agree with all that you have said except for Fellaini being a scapegoat because he always was. Unfairly treated time and time again.Handful of people on the internet

One idiot somewhere
Neither have been scapegoated at all.
He was booed once and that's about it. The club itself was bending over backwards to keep him this summer, for the sake of the prick who was in charge. He made good money, he got plenty of opportunities to play for a big club - he wasn't "unfairly treated time and time again".I agree with all that you have said except for Fellaini being a scapegoat because he always was. I'm not talking about the board or coaches - they clearly valued him.He was booed once and that's about it. He made good money, he got plenty of opportunities to play for a big club - he wasn't "unfairly treated time and time again".
Yeah. What’s even worse was that he also made very few sprints per game, which, unlike ground covered, is a crucial stat for a striker.I'm sure I remember people posting stats when we signed him about him being an outlier - in terms of workrate - when he was at Everton. Covering less ground per game than almost any other player in the league?
Who were the lads adamant Lukaku is a better forward than Rashford a few months back?
Probably the same group who chose Lukaku over Griezmann in that car crash thread just before he joined, pretty sure there was also a debate about whether he was better than Kane![]()
It's not surprising to me either. People are projecting their hate for Mourinho on Lukaku, because he was his favorite. Players like Rashford and Martial were mistreated by Mourinho and held back from starting because of his preferential treatment of Lukaku. I'm glad that someone actually acknowledges that this is a factor. Add in the fact that there are quite a few childish posters on here and you get a trainwreck of a thread instead of intelligent disscusion. Not sure why anyone finds it surprising that Lukaku gets a shit ton of stick.
No matter how he was playing, he was usually the first name on the sheet under Mourinho. If we gave Martial or Rashford a random chance up front and they didn't perform well enough, they were hung out to dry by Mourinho as he was happy to use it to tell the press to mind their business as they had feck all knowledge about football, like his "now you know why Lukaku always plays" reference. Add in Lukakus interviews, which was him bigging himself up, talking about his mentality as being rock solid, being willing to run through a brick wall for Mourinho and that's why he's a favourite, that players need to grow up and be a man, to deal with their own shit with Mourinho. People started viewing him as a teachers pet, and rightly so, with his performances being nowhere near good enough to warrant the preferable treatment he was getting. Factor in his comments about Juventus and it's hardly a surprise that he's not the most loved player at United.
In terms of his form now, no idea what's going on with him but it's blatantly obvious that he's in a shocking state at the moment. It was pointed out quite early that something didn't seem right, he looked heavier, but it took ages until people were willing to accept that he had gained muscles, Lukaku himself confirmed that later on, but we're well past the point where he should've been able to trim it down. The various clips of him letting the ball bounce instead of trying to control it reminds me of childrens football, it's the very definition of a "what the feck" moment when you see a professional footballer on more than one occasion lets the ball bounce to make it easier to control, the worrying part is that even then he fails miserably, often being outmuscled by players half his size and/or mistiming the header after the ball has bounced.
More worrying is the fact that he looks lost, he can come on in the 70th min and 5 minutes later he looks like he's been playing for 100mins. Lack of runs, often standing still, doesn't look like he's anywhere near finding his form again. It's not like i think he has a long term future at the club, but short term it would be extremely valuable to have an in form Lukaku as an option, especially now that we have a great chance of knocking out PSG and finishing 4th.
This is what I don't get. Even scapegoating would be understandable if we were doing badly. But we have won 9 out of 10 and people still need something to moan about.I'm agreeing with the idea that some people are revelling in his mistakes because they simply enjoy criticising him at this point. He's the new caf scapegoat, even as things are actually going well for us.
And while I'm not neccessarily saying he's being called a big, lazy, useless and unintelligent player simply because people are indulging in stereotype, it is unfortunate that those are negative stereotypes that have been applied to black footballers for decades. It means the thread scans in a less than pleasant way, even if we assume no particular bad intentions on anyone's part.
Though given that he wouldn't have the goalscoring record he does if he actually was just big, lazy, useless and unintelligent, it's stupid OTT criticism either way.
