Premier League Gameweek 29

1) It didn't affect the miss
2) You have an Arsenal player encroaching too.

If both teams encroach they are never letting you re-take it.

It affects what happens after when the two Spurs defenders are on top of Auba as he is about to have a tap in.

He was the one who blocked the shot on line, so it did have impact.

You must be blind to figures of speech that you were eager to drop those green smiley bombs.

Blame him for being poor, forbeing on a colossal wage, for Martial being marginalised etc.
But don't try and blame him for Jose's miserable run continuing.
Scoring a last min goal should never be a bad thing!

But again, you had a player in the box too.
You can't say oh we've missed, can we have a re-take.

Draw in the NLD was the best result for us. A win takes us above Arsenal again and takes us a bit closer to Spurs.

It's a different phase of play, and again, and I'm not sure why people are ignoring this, Arsenal had a player encroaching too. That totally rules out the other guy encroaching.

Not sure what the rule is but if Arsenal miss and Spurs had players in the box it should be retaken regardless if Arsenal had players in the box as well. If Arsenal miss and score from the rebound than it should only matter what the Arsenal players did.

Spurs certainly got lucky with the decisions today.

Youre taking it too literally. My point was he has barely done enough considering what was expected of him at the time. No one in their right mind can now say we got the better end of the deal, infact the 6months last season we got from mkhi also was infinitely better than anything we have got from a guy who was supposed to instantly make us champions league contenders.

Yes. We certainly got lucky that Xhaka was given free reign to foul and were so fortunate the referee missed Vertonghen encroaching on what was never a penalty to begin with.

It's from the same phase on play, Lloris saved and Iwobi's shot was cleared off line.

Not sure what the exact rule is but looking at video, Vertonghen was the first who entered the box and way ahead of everyone, so obviously it's advantage to Spurs.

The penalty was missed so Arsenal didn't benefit from it. But Spurs scored from theirs that should not have been given.

seen how far Vertongen is in the box when the pen is taken? then he blocks the shot on the line

edit - haha just seen it at the top of this page

Yeah this is spot on. Spurs got lucky with Penalty but Arsenal were lucky to have 11 players till last min.

Arsenal got lucky with penalty, Spurs for lucky with Vertonghen entering box before everyone.

How Xhaka wasn't sent off is beyond me, just incompetent ref.

It's one of those scenarios where it has to be a super obvious one for them to make any decision. And more often than not if both teams are encroaching they play on.

ps lucky? Apart from wrongly having a pen against them in the last min.

Reporter: Good point today, Harry. How do you feel about the game?

Kane: Errrrrrrrm.

Reporter. Thanks, Harry.

True, they both had players encroaching. I'd imagine the pen would have to be retaken in that case.

Well if the defender is encroaching and then pen is missed it technically should be re-taken, but if an attacker is encroaching, and it's missed, it should be an indirect free kick.
So with both encroaching, I don't know how you can go for one over the other.

They got a chance to score the penalty, they fecked up. Regardless of what Vertonghen was doing.

Neither side benefited from the referee today, he was shite to both sides. Their first goal comes a little bit after Xhaka blatantly fouls Kane and gets away with it, and then he spent the rest of the game hacking players down and escaping punishment.

For those wondering, according to FIFA if players from both sides are encroaching then the penalty gets taken again.

Is that actually the rule? If both teams are encroaching you play on? Genuine question btw

Xhaka should have been off after 13 minutes and the penalty wasn't even a penalty. Neither team was really helped by the ref.

Now now squishy. you'll have half the thread starting to PM you abuse

In fairness, some of us would give better interviews, but we'd certainly look dummies ON the pitch.
