I’m not seeing many House Democratic leader names in that article that have actually come forward with their own opinion. They’re the ones who are having to deal with the complaints but it really does seem more like the article is trying to frame the narrative that Omar is being rebuked by house dem leaders when there doesn’t seem to be much evidence of that?

It’s their job to deal with these types of issues after all.

Pelosi ? Who views are to the right when it comes to Israel. And also considering last time they forced Omar to apologise for saying Israel lobbies in the Unites States. I think the framing of the article is completely fair.

Pelosi hasn't made any comment on this incident as far as I can see. Her name was mentioned multiple times because she's one of the key Dem leaders who will have to review the case.

Can you find any quotes on her stance on the comments in question by Omar?

I don't know what else to say. Given the views of the top democrats and really the democratic party as a whole, its clear that on Wednesday they will completely screw over Omar.

@2cents I concede the point from the other thread because I dont know enough about British politics or European politics to dispute what you've said. I do think that the anti semitism accusation is used as weapon against political enemies in the US and not in good faith.

The way that the merest hint of dissent against Israel has been attacked like a drone swarm, repeatedly twisting fairly benevolent comments into accusations of anti-semitism, in both the UK and US recently has been remarkable. Say what you like about the Israel lobby, they're nothing if not well-organised.

In my opinion, it's like this. If there was to be even a small shift of opinion in the US towards the Palestinian view, and a president in office like a Sanders willing to pressure Israel, then it may have no choice but to agree to peace along the lines of the long-standing international consensus. For the Israelis, this cannot happen. So they are merciless about stamping it out.

I can't take anyone serious who equates support for boycotting Israel (until significant progress is seen with the conflict), with believing that Israel doesn't have a right to exist within a 2 state solution or equivalent where both Israelis and Palestinians can both live in peace and not in an open prison. It seems there are people around who prefer to ‘show sympathy’ for everything and pretend the world is a great, caring place. It’s no different from ‘thoughts and prayers’.

There’s a fundamental difference between indifference and reveling at something.

Automation was always going to end a lot of careers, I myself work in one of those. Instead of hoping for sympathy, one should be trying to position oneself for transition out of the role or invest wisely for retirement.
