Some British soldiers threaten leader of the opposition

You are comparing a video shooting some pictures with fake guns to an that with a incident that killed 49 people? How on earth are they both comparable, ffs?

The media was allowed to demonize muslims and immigrants to the point that that incident happened. Before it happened there were loads of minor incidents which were ignored.

The same is happening to the left by the right nowadays and the effect will be seen in the next few years.

You are asking me for links of immigrants and muslims being painted as bad guys over the last ten years? Are you that oblivious?

I haven't read about any similar incidents being ignored that led to NZ shooting. For me, shooting a picture with fake guns is just a prank. I can't really extrapolate that into something that will lead to a killing 10 years later.

Its pretty obvious. Tied into the Bloody Sunday prosecution too.

And yet nothing more than a stupid prank. If you know any paras then you’ll know - they’re just brainless idiots. It’s not that surprising.

I’d be more concerned if it was Royal Marines.

Joining the paratroop regiment is the most common pathway to the SAS by a long way in the army I think.

Around 75% of SAS are Paras but it's a small quantity of people. There are about 400 or so operating maybe less. Same goes for SBS and SRR. Those guys are best of the best and think on their feet and have been for a long long time.

1 Para is SFSG, last I heard a sprog can expect to find himself in 1 para straight out recruitment. There are also pathfinders, a detachment of 16 air assault brigade, all those guys are fantastic soldiers and the best at what they do but not necessarily the brightest.

Beggars belief how anyone can see no wrong in this.

These aren’t some blokes in a pub in Bromley having a laugh with a dartboard, this is the British Army (who are supposed to be the apolitical, impartial armed guardians of the nation) using a prominent British politician’s face as target practice.

I’m sure Jo Cox’s husband finds it hilarious.

Well put.

People laughing it off, dismissing it as some harmless action by 'lads'. Great example set by members of our Great British army.

We're the members of "it's just a joke, bro" and "banter" generation until it all goes tits up. We are actively breeding right-wing extremists by turning a blind eye to incidents like this.

Imagine the outrage by the red tops and the likes of Yaxley-Lennon and his cretins if these "lads" were of another nationality.

Thanks for taking time out of your day to let us all know you don't give a shit about it. We appreciate it.
This:
The poster he replied to was claiming that they were training to assassinate Corbyn and should have their passports revoked. It was certainly one of the more absurd posts on the CAF in recent times.
Maybe read the chain before taking time out of your day to make sarcy posts. I'd appreciate it.

Who gives a shit, really?

In a world where rhetoric and legalised hate speech results in the murder of British MP's and 50 innocents in church I think.we need to.treat such things very seriously.

The act itself is a call to political violence even if the perpetrators don't see it that way and they themselves may be a result of being "radicalised" by the current and pervasive nationalistic lurch to.the right that has been occurring recently.

Of course the individuals involved were most likely never going to engage in political violence just as the far right portion of the Brexit argument were never going to personally murder Jo Cox.

So yes. I give a Shit. As should we all.

Should be dishonourably discharged.

In no way is it acceptable for the armed forces to even joke about attacking a member of Parliament.

Whatever the politics of the MP they are elected representatives to enact sovereign power derived from the queen in this country.

A queen and sovereignty that mps represent and these members of the armed forces have sworn allegiance to.

It’s all well and good people saying it’s a joke but posting something like this on social media is not harmless. Images of the army even suggesting violence to mps starts bluring the lines further towards how the general public treats mps.

This in an era where there has been an mp killed, multiple attacked and a good amount receiving death threats.

As someone who’s never served but has considered it on numerous occasions I hope they throw the book at them. otherwise it would really damage the whole institution of the armed forces in my eyes and do a dis- service to the others that represent us so well.

I think you’re reading way too much into this

You're reading way too little into it. Words and attitude actually matter. Nobody thinks that these guys were planning to go out and assassinate Jeremy Corbyn, but the event doesn't exist in a vacuum. Normalizing such behaviour is how we ended up with a terrorist killing dozens while using symbolism that was supposedly just 4/8-chan "trolling the libtards".

Exactly

I'm not saying what the prats did is right, it's clearly not, and they should be disciplined but several posts mention respect for MPs, and someone mentioned influencing how the public treat MPs, maybe if the mps stop treating people like serfs that they rule and start behaving like this public servants they are meant to be things like this wouldn't happen.
Things like the cnut Rees-mogg accepting £7.5 million in taxpayers money to do up his wife's ancestral home while we have thousands living on the street, MPs stealing via expenses, having the tax payers funding cleaning their fecking moats, having MPs voting down legislation to make rented properties habitable and force the fitting of smoke alarms BECAUSE MOST OF THEM ARE feckING LANDLORDS, cheering when votes to increase pay for public sector workers are voted down whilst lining their own pockets, having private companies deciding who is fit for work and who isn't and driving people to poverty and suicide, giving multi million pound ferry contracts to a company with no bloody ships..... The only people responsible for the way they are viewed are the self serving bastards themselves
Respect is earned and not given, and they sure as shit haven't earned it.

They set fire to her already, there wasn't the same outrage as this.

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/...-effigies-burn-on-lewes-bonfire-a3981561.html

And why should there be? Guy Faulkes night commemorates the failure to destroy the government. The effigies of Boris and May are symbols of the state that these clowns have brought the parliament to and saying we need to get rid of them to save the UK. Not a proposal to burn them.

And of course the people doing this weren't government employees or representatives in uniform.

Would I have personally done this? No.

Is it in any way the same thing as soldiers shooting pictures of Corbyn and parading it online? No.

This resulted in a dishonourable discharge almost immediately:
