The Championship 2018/19 - Play-off final

Man I hope villa score a winner now

Dirty Leeds scum, never seen anything like this in football.

That was pathetic from Bielsa! He cares more for his ego than for the club.. Why da feck he ordered his team to let Villa score that goal?! I can't believe what i saw..

Because it was the right thing to do after his player stopped as if he was going to play the ball out then decided to play their attacker through instead

Sportsmanship, its rare in football nowadays but it was certainly the right thing to do. Absolutely nothing wrong with letting them score.

Did the referee stopped him/cancelled the goal? NO..So basically it is a totally legit goal.. Bielsa decided to big himself up here and thats what i cant understand..

So fecking stupid.

It’s not the players’ responsibility to stop the match if a player is down. Villa deserved to concede for not playing to the whistle.

Bielsa is a clown. Cares more about his ego than his team.

We all know it was legit according to the rules, that’s not what this is about.

It was more to do with the fact that villa kicked the ball out earlier in the game in a similar situation. Nothing wrong with showing sportsmanship.

Just saw that even with a win they were going to the playoffs anyway so fair enough. Thought it was a decisive game.

Still, Villa only had themselves to blame. They were incredibly stupid.

Yeah, that and the Leeds played seemed to stop and feint playing it out and then play the through ball for the goal.
Any gifs of the leeds goal?

I saw the post match brawl and villas equaliser on youtube but can't find the Leeds goal.
From reddit:

Exactly he slowed as if to play it out and then played it done the line when Villa had stopped. Not nice really.

The problem was the Leeds player shaped his body and acted like he was going to kick the ball out, only to play a disguised attacking pass. Bit of a dick move.

Yeah, even put his hand up as if he was stopping too.

Had he played as if he was playing on then I don’t think anyone apart from the villa players would have thought much of it

It's all a bit silly, they wouldn't miss on purpose when someone dives for a penalty? Diving is fine, but this? Hell no.

Maybe I'd receive this better some 20 years ago, when football had much less cheaters in it.

I actually don't think Leeds should've gifted Villa a goal after that, I wouldn't if I were Bielsa anyways.

I’ve never understood the massive British hate for diving, it’s common place in every single game of football throughout the world ... at all levels.

Whilst it isn’t something you encourage, you certainly do need to make the most of certain tackles and particularly when luring in defenders in or around the box.

It's only fair after how they scored their goal and cheated to get a player sent off in my view.

We were all mad at rashford for kicking the ball out against city during the week. Why is this different. You only stop for a head injury. Think thats bollocks by leeds letting them score.

Is it only because the player pretended to knock it out then played on?

That’s pretty much the issue here yeah

I'm not actually sure the way they scored was cheating, it was played out wide and Villa stopped playing expecting the ball to go out, but its not on Leeds to then stop because of that, to me its naivety from Villa that they got away with.
I'm not sure about the sending off though, I can't find any videos that shows what happens, just the commentators talking about it.

Can't believe Leeds have blown it, really hope they can raise themselves for the playoffs, but it's going to be brutal for them.

I didn't say they cheated to score the goal. The red card was cheating plain and simple. The goal was just really fecking shitty the way he feigned to kick it out then played the through ball. Think the Leeds player was offside too.

That i can get with i suppose.
Yeah I've no problem with players playing on. It's the refs job to stop it, just don't deceive players like that, it's really shitty to use something like that to your advantage.

They allowed Villa to score straight after but Villa remain a man down following the events.
I've been told it's happened before but first time I've seen it. Have to say it was quite a good game to watch and Leeds' attack looked more potent than ours at times!

Never said that you did, but the goal is the main reason why Leeds then let them score surely? The more I watch it the more I don't even think Roberts ever intended to kick the ball out, why would you slow down, stop and wait a few seconds and then kick it out?
Like I say I've not seen why the red was given, did Bamford go down pretending he'd been hit? If so yeah that is really shitty. Is there anywhere that shows Bamford and the Villa players coming together?
