Champions League Semi Finals (30th April - 8th May)

Dembele with all the space and time takes a direct shot and hits more the ground than the ball :wenger: could have done anything really

Mark my words, Barca will rue those two missed chances at the end

Can't imagine Barca post Messi. The collapse will be x10 more that what happened to Madrid post Ronaldo. Team is completely dependent on him despite having other good players.

Was just thinking this. The next 5-10 years are gonna be very interesting. I imagine if they looked like collapsing there'd be forces at play that lend a hand though.

Liverpool will just about edge Barca in my opinion and I see Tottenham progressing the same way. I can actually see Tottenham winning it in the end.

Can’t see it happening tbf. I’m sure they’ll score a couple at Klanfield, but Barca will get at least one

Where do Liverpool get the energy from? They never stop running. How are they not knackered out by this stage of the season? Or pick up more injuries?

It’s freakish!

Wait until you see what Ole does with us ;)

I’m sorry but how is anyone saying this is far from over!?

3-0 down to Barcelona and people think Liverpool can do it? I mean there’s always a chance. But it’s so so slim, it’s ridiculous.

If Barcelona score at Anfield, even a 4-1 win for Liverpool would see them go out on away goals. So realistically they’ll need at least 5 goals since Messi will likely score.

It’s done.

Now for Newcastle to kick them whilst they’re down on Saturday please. To get knocked out of the UCL semis and lose the league in a matter of 3 days would be utter bliss.

There was more coverage of Klopp than the bloody match.

Should have been more than 3 in the end. Then again how Salah missed I’ll never know. Pool surely got no chance second leg.

Nah it's done. No way Liverpool keep out Barca. If Barca score Liverpool need 5 and that just isn't happening.

I pray you’re right.

Hopefully the luck is turning on them now and their season derails from here. An extra couple of games than City, where they’re busting a gut for a result may be telling in the final PL run-in. I’m hoping so anyway.

Bindippers, could end up with feck all again. What a free kick, Barca could have had 6 in this game. Pool could have had 2, at least.

Ajax v Barca final hopefully, should be good one.

This miss though....can't believe it. 120mil player. He had all the time in the world. And he shoots with his left.
Messi should finish that. Barca overusing that pass in penalty box

Imagine going on at 90th min and knowing you will get as many chances as Dembele did... and missing them all

Now that’s a special European night. Shame Barca didn’t make it 4-0. Barca will score at the Dipperdome so the vermin Dippers will need 5. Barca v Ajax Final

Liverpool should have been dead and buried. Dembele

Will be a great 2nd leg though. No doubt Liverpool will throw the kitchen sink.

I get it should have been six nil...but Liverpool could and should have had two or three...the Milner straight at the keeper and that snivelling, odious, diving little prick Salah when he hit the post.

Jesus should have been 4:0. Tie not over I think, Liverpool will throw everything at Barca at Anfield and it wouldn’t surprise me if they collapsed.

If they hold out for the first 30 minutes then the tie should be done.
If Barca score at Anfield, and they probably will, Pool will need five. Good luck with that.

Glad someone else has said this. Been outstanding tonight just like he was against us.

Sensational performance. The scoreline doesn't show just how much on edge that game was. Barca could have won it going away towards the end but for 70 mins Liverpool were the better team and Pique kept them in it with Roberto and Lenglet really struggling. Messi will get the praise of course but the leadership Pique showed was exceptional, was desperate for him to get that ball instead of Dembele on that late break, Roy of the Rovers stuff.

Flattering scoreline for Barca, Liverpool were good in the second-half but Messi, what a player!

This game is done, Liverpool could score two quick fire goals and dominate but if Barcelona just score 1 away goal, the scousers will crumble mentally.

Really surprised how good Liverpool looked in this match. Immense energy, always a step quicker and with defined playing patterns. Barca was never going to match their running, but looked generally deflated and nervous on the ball. In the end, individual quality and a bit of good fortune is what wins these matches.

They were well on top for most of it. Problem was without Firmino, Mane and Salah were forced into being creators rather than finishers, their best chance(before they went 3-0 down) came to Milner, and they just couldn't create enough clear chances otherwise

Klopp leaving TAA on the bench and waiting too long to bring on Firmino, too. They fell to pieces for a few minutes after the 2-0, but that happens. This same experienced barcelona side lost 3-0 in Rome a year ago, starting with a 4-1 lead...

Also, thank the gods Dembele is such a waste of talent

I'm not disputing that Firmino is integral to their game. But I thought they were the better side up until the 2nd goal. Wijnaldum (sp.?) did well in the high press and Mane was a threat though Salah tried loads of things that didn't come off and he's back to his lower level now it seems.

I still think Barca were helped by their experience. And yes, obviously Messi's brilliance that came through in the end.

Agreed on Dembele. Looks terrible.

I don't get this "gears" analogy. It's just how Barcelona play. It's not down to gears.

Fair enough. Then they make the game look ridiculously easy. Spurs and Ajax, like Liverpool, just don't have the finishers to kill Barça when they're caught. Son won't be enough if Spurs make it.
