Question Time & This Week

Who would have thought Sinn Fein would be the champions of same sex marriage?
Anybody who's paid a bit of attention to NI any time in recent history. But stick to your balaclava jokes.

I'll admit that I had missed Sinn Fein's stance on this issue. Been reading about it and fair play to them, they've really highlighted it as an issue of human rights and thrown their support behind it.

I watched it. Bregman made some good points but he was no match for Portillo and Johnston. Experienced politicians such as those obviously have the greater debating skills, irrespective of whether they're right or wrong, but Bregman's knowledge of history just wasn't there. I wish him well, but he needs other people to develop his ideas.

What !? Portillo did the whole Venezuela & you've got a iPhone shtick. Come on you didn't really think that part was anything other than a joke ? Plus to hear Johnston quote Atlee about the difference is not left and right but democratic government vs authoritarianism shows Johnston lack of historical knowledge. Labour government of Attlee imposed a naval blockade in the Gulf because a democratic leader of Iran want to nationalise Iranian oil.

But anyway I agree that Bergman made some decent points but overall he was rubbish. He is in the end a 21st century social democratic.

To me the interesting part of the twitter thread was just hearing 1)the lack of preparation by the BBC 2)How everyone must have a view on Brexit.

.
I made an exception and read this, I get his points but he was a bit naive not expecting it. He needs some media training!

I don't do twitter in general, I don't want to go down the road of only reading the views of people I agree with, which is what seems to happen.

I actually like Bregman but his points in that thread are just bizarre. He seemingly expected everyone to be familiar with his relatively obscure book and yet he’s clearly unfamiliar with Question Time, the most popular political show in the UK. He expected to go on a show that deals with the current issues in the UK and was surprised to be asked about Brexit. Laughable stuff.

 Ash Sarkar raging against ideologues and bemoaning a lack of compromise.

Was it ever uphill?

He played the Arab guy who helps Indiana Jones in the classic trilogy. He was also in a '90s TV series called Sliders about time travel.

Then...Question Time.
Also Gimli. Never realised he was a rabid right winger.

Bruce is pretty atrocious at moderating.

Lord of the Rings.

Doesn't really go here, but if you are watching HIGNFY, Ian Hislop is really laying into Johnny Mercer.

tbf, he's taking it quite well.
Hislop really layed into him. It was good TV. I thought Mercer was gooing to snap at one point but he held his cool.

Yeah I saw that. Was actually shocked at what I was watching, he really ripped into him and rightfully so by the sound of it. His counter argument was weak and basically consisted of “yeah but I’ll sue you”.

33 appearances. Why the feck are the BBC so desperate to push Farage down our throats?

Farage deflecting from having said Norway was a good situation by shouting that Norway never left the EU... and is successful in doing so.

Yeah exactly, it was so obvious too.

Bruce lets Farage rant to his heart's content, cuts off someone finally mentioning the breaking point poster because "it's ancient history".
