Ole & United vs. Frank & Chelsea: who will have the better season?

Two poor squads. Two fledgling Premiership managers (for supposed top clubs). Both on 4pts with W1 D1 L1 records after 3 games.

So, with 35 games (or until sacked) to go, who will have the better season and why?
 
Chelsea. They will probably be more stable at the back when Rudiger returns. They play better football atm, and it will probably bring better results in the long run.
 
I think Chelsea will start slow but progress will be made throughout the season and they will end well whereas our form will be in fits and starts and we will be no better off come the seasons end than we are now.
 
Lampard: despite all, he has an idea of football, and they still have a better team by far in midfield in particular: United don't have players like Willian, Kante, Jorginho, Mount, Kovacic, Barkley...

With Rudiger and Willian fully recovered they will go far from United in the table
 
Ole... when you spend the money that Ole has spent, the expectation is that you have to win the title or be close to achieving that
 
Don't rate either of them and I expect them both to finish outside the top 4. Derby were the luckiest team in the Championship last season and Lampard can consider himself very fortunate to be managing Chelsea right now.
 
Chelsea have more depth and bigger squad. They got the right blend of experience and youth. They probably lack a killer striker, but we hardly got one. They got better wingers than us. Better midfield by far.
 
I don’t think Chelsea have a poor squad, think they have a better squad than us. I’d rather have a stronger midfield and weaker front line than the other way around. Our midfield will kill us in most games.
 
I think both will finish outside top 4 this season.

However Lampard will outlast Ole imo. Chelsea look to be on the right track for me style wise. Having a transfer ban hurt them a lot especially with losing their best players. With few signings in next summer they will be very good imo.

On the other hand I can't grasp any style for Ole tbh rather than counter attacking and pressing up front.
 
We've apparently lost our best player, signed nobody new, have a donkey upfront, can't defend and have a manager who couldn't get out of the championship.

If Chelsea finish above any of the other top 6, their managers should all be sacked.

Nonsense. United's squad is clearly better, Solskjaer has much better choice in squad depth and experience and spent serious money in the summer, addressing the team's defensive issues. Chelsea lost their best player and couldn't correct their squad flaws due to the transfer ban, so they have to rely on their youth more than they normally would have wanted to.

United will be aiming at top four finish and if they fail, OGS's future will be in serious doubt. Chelsea will probably finish around 6th, if things go well, or around midtable if not, depending on how fast Lampard will adapt to the biggest test of his coaching career to date and how well will the young talent manage to realize their potential. This Chelsea side is a work in progress and the season is a write-off.

Chelsea have a better squad so I'd expect them to finish above us. They have more options than us in every position other than centre back.
 
Chelsea. Even in the game at OT I could see they atleast have a style of football and can hold the ball well, unlike us who only seem to like the counter

It's amazing that Lampard can at least implement the style of football he wants to play (in some form) in his first three games yet we manage to look more clueless game on game. But y'know, the manager needs time and all that shit.

It's all bs really. A manager that knows what they are doing doesn't take time to implement the philosophy.

As you can both see, it's the polar opposite between support of the other club; extrapolated, with more Chelsea supporters on here, this would come out 50/50 at the moment.

What is Lampard's philosophy? And from what you're writing are you suggesting Ole has not?
 
Chelsea have two of their best players out in Kante and Rudiger. Rudiger is very underrated and both players can have a big impact going forward. Then you add players coming back to fitness like CHO, Willian and Loftus and it looks positive.

However I believe United will finish above Chelsea. Simply because the squad is better and deeper on paper. Chelsea have a lot for youngsters so you have to predict lots of growing pain. Chelsea will have higher highs maybe but lower lows too.
 
The overrating of Lampard is so funny. But what else do you expect from caf. Imagine Lampard's chelsea beating us 4-0. Chelsea had just good 15 mins of football and people forget we really played well the other day. You don't win 4-0 just by fluke.

Our players have missed 2 penalties and again because of individual errors we have dropped points. We dominated palace and should have won the game. Were we great? Absolutely No but we were not outplayed by palace or wolves or chelsea. To win football natches you need to take your chances and so far we have failed to do that since the chelsea game. People rave about liverpool and city. Look at Salah yesterday, he finished his chances. Top players do that. You don't start blaming manager to this extent that you have 10 threads questioning him and wanting him gone.

Objectively I have not seen anything special from Lampard's chelsea or even Arsenal's emery to even suggest they are doing better than Ole till now.
 
Chelsea.

They are conceding goals, but also scoring and their attacking is more fluid and clever. As long as they can improve their defending, Top4 it is.

Man Utd, on the other hand, is back to the same old: conceding lazy goals and clueless up front, with a baffling lack of hunger or awareness. That we can't even score penalties is a sign of how fragile they are in terms of character and belief.
 
Chelsea have real excuses for failure to reach top four: no transfer window, lost Hazard, and Lampard has only been there since preseason.

Solskjaer has been here since December 2018 and has had a full transfer window. We have won 3 and drawn 3 of the last 15, so that is 12 out of 45 points. I think Solskjaer will be the worst going by what has happened.

I think Chelsea look better than us. I have always felt that the result against Chelsea was more of a sucker punch rather than us being good. We scored against the run of play and then used the space behind to get at them, but we are utterly useless when there is no space. Chelsea look like they can break through a defence, but we look toothless.

ManUtd are only good on the counter, but most teams won't let us play like that. We do not look fluid, but Chelsea do. I think Chelsea will be much better when they get their injured players back.

Are you lot seriously pissing your pants at a Chelsea side who lost 4-0 to you, drew 1-1 at home to Leicester (who missed about 500 chances in the 2nd half) and then scraped a win vs Norwich?

Also, Rudiger is becoming better with every week that passes. Apparently going to fix all their defensive woes despite just being a good cb, not a prime Baresi.

Nope... Ole has spent $145 million on 3 players.. that's serious cash... you dun spend that amount to be basically a top 6 team which is status quo

The expectation is either deliver title or he will be another one who has wasted the cash for no improvement

I don't think MU board expects OGS to deliver the title this season, it's clear that Liverpool and City are still a level above everybody else.

I'm sure they'll be happy with the top four finish and overall improvement in performances on the pitch.
 
Chelsea play pretty football but there are so porous in defence. We play ugly shit on a stick football so if we're leading a game, we can close them out.

It's gonna be a coin flip, will have to reserve judgment until Chelsea are back to full strength with Rudiger and Kante in the XI.

Thats serious cash but the team still has holes and still needs additions, nobody expects a title from him.
 
There a few factors you can't control such as injuries, luck, etc. but I think whoever gets a grip on and improves the obvious weaknesses of their team will do better. For Chelsea it's obviously their defence, for us it's the balance of the midfield and number 10 position.

I don't buy the argument that Ole doesn't have a plan or style when he clearly does but you could instantly see what Chelsea were trying to do in their opening game against us and they were a bit unlucky in that first half. I think they might surprise a few people.
 
Chelsea still have Rudiger, Hudson-Odoi, James and RLC to come back from injuries.

We have Gomes that could come into the team and possibly Garner. Other than that we have all of our top players already playing.

Lampard's style is front foot fast attacking football. Ole's style is control the game. I'd say that Chelsea will be a lot more entertaining to watch, I've really enjoyed their games this season but they're going to need to score 2 goals plus to win games. We look a lot more solid at the back so can win games 1-0. I think due to having a better defence we will be higher.
 
I've said before Chelsea will actually have a good season. They certainly have, in Mason Mount, the kind of young player I wish was available for United's number 10 spot. May be a couple of years before Gomes is ready.

Chelsea won their last match and we lost ours, which means they'll 100% have the better season. :D
