They would presumably still go in to the election on a "leave on October 31st, however we have to do it" platform. If they got re-elected on that basis then they presumably have the mandate (and numbers) to overturn the law stopping them from doing so?

I'm confused. Obviously if they win the election they can do whatever. I'm suggesting they want no deal during the election period but before the vote. Which means they don't have to win an election.
