For the record, I think you’re assuming from previous conversations that I was a New Labour voter on Tony’s days. Never voted Labour. Only voted in 2015 and 2017, couldn’t even vote in 2010. No citizenship.

They didn't of course cause the financial crisis but they never cared about just much power the finance sector had in the UK. They weren't interested in changing the fundamental model of the UK economy, so when things when bang they were fecked - Peter Mandelson "Intensely relaxed about people getting filthy rich as long as they pay their taxes". Not to mention they've tried for years now to get rid of the labour leader who would challenge this model.
They in the end believed that Thatcher was right.

No it did not. But I reckon Blair’s regulatory power didn’t extend as far as Wall Street. Not that it was easy to spot and regulate against the things that were happening without the massive power of hindsight, anyway. The Bank and the Fed, who are partly responsible for oversight were also caught out.
