Revelation in a public spotlight of a president using his power with the intention to corrupt an election in his favor. That will be a massive benefit to the Democrats but also it is essential that the majority draw a line in the sand for the sake of democracy.
IMO this can play very differently with the public than how the Mueller report was received. That required getting everyone to make the leap of faith about Candidate Trump's role in his campaign's use of Russian interference in 2016. This is much more clear cut and will be easier to lay out in front of people. It's then a judgment call. Sure we know the GOP won't get rid of Trump but Dems will then have them on the record as supporting this behavior as well.
Feels like a classic bait and switch to me. Maguire hides the whistleblower complaint, Trump team leaks to wsj with an editorial board friendly to them that it was concerning Biden and Ukraine, then Trump drags his feet before acting on behalf of transparency and releases the transcript while still keeping the whistleblower complaint away from Congress and no one knows what the complaint states.

I don't think Trump is necessarily - but some of those around him definitely are. Don't forget Trump has the potential to wreak devastation upon the RNC with everything he could potentially go down for so I fully believe they re throwing every intellectual resource at it to keep it afloat. Imho of course.
For sure he's got much better cover now with Barr there to do the heavy intellectual lifting. But do you really think that this is all some deep laid master plan that they thought out that far in advance?

Not necessarily from the very beginning of the complaint being lodged but they almost certainly would have had more time to prepare how to respond to it than the House or anyone else did. I can't imagine that kind of information to escape the apparatus surrounding (any) POTUS.

I don't doubt that anything released by Trump or his DoJ will be scrubbed and will provide plenty of latitude that he can use to proclaim himself completely and totally exonerated. They did the same with the Barr letter and that largely worked because the House did not move to impeach. If the horse has left the barn already - and it certainly looks possible that 1) the Dems are on board and 2) the GOP are not rushing to defend this - I don't think it will work so easily again. The complaint needs to come out and the House should demand it no matter what.
Of course a lot of the public support will rely on the media doing its job by reporting facts rather than relaying talking points so good chance this is all hopeless.

If the whistleblowers complaint is "just" the Ukraine call then this whole thing should just be over with as its only a waste of time. He's already ahead of the storm for the Ukraine bribe call and talking points are already out on full swing. Only mitt Romney thought he was naughty. The complaint would literally have to be murder for anyone to even slightly care

Partly. It’s the one where the beginning is conveniently missing and thus gives a false narrative that Trumpsters are using to try and implicate Biden. I did read somewhere what is was actually about and it’s not what it appears. But it serves Trump fans well for the moment.

It's this. Just like the Mueller report, but in a much-reduced timescale. We know what he did was impeachable, we know what he did was obstruction we know what he did would get any other President chucked out but because it took place in such a way and because the cult runs strong, we did nothing about it.
I'm not sure that works in just a week. It's hard to get people to adjust to the mentality that it's okay for a President to extort political favours from an ally by withholding aid he has no constitutional right to withhold.
If the Dems can just nail the messaging, it should be pretty damaging imo.
