They have the worst defense in the league on bar with Watford with 21 goals conceded. 19th in the table and lost 6 matches already. Villa put 5 past them on their own pitch.
The City game looks like a fluke actually. By all means we should win this, but I said the same about Newcastle.

Not being funny.. But Wesley would not get a shirt number here and Scott McTomminay would probably be Villa's vice captain. Get real with your comparisons. I know we are doing crap but don't underestimate the quality of some of our players because of this. Neil Taylor has been Villa's worst player for 12 months, most goals come from his side. To say he is better than Luke Shaw is comedy.
I know this is not a popular opinion. But past seasons, Fellaini got us out of a lot of trouble. We miss his power in the midfield and scoring him at important moments. I genuinly think his period at United was excellent, but people like to mock him because of his technique. Technique can help, but football is a lot more than that. And the way he controlled the ball with his chest, was just insanely good. He was a very underrated player and remained the Moyes scapegoat for way too long.

Of the next run of league games I think they will probably beat Brighton at old Trafford, maybe Villa too. The away ones look like banana skins.
Sure, if you just want to just state things without context. For what it’s worth, I don’t think it’s impossible, but that’s about as far as I can go without feeling like an idiot upon myself.
Your last part there just made me cringe, because it says a lot about you and your perspective on your fellow fans.
We showed yesterday we can play alot better than what we have been. There's some serious mentality issues if we can only get up for the biggest game of the season. We won't score many this season as we don't have a prolific striker. If we defend as we did yesterday we should be able to stop conceding the stupid goals we have for the majority of the season. If we can keep players fit we are capable of 6th to 8th.
all that yesterday showed is that United can play well when they set-up to hold fort against teams who attack them, hopefully nicking one on the break. Which is an option in about 6 games this season.
Worryingly, I think united are more likely to take a point of Liverpool because of speed and strength on the break, than they are against Newcastle, Villa, Sheffield United etc & there are alot of these matches throughout the season.
United's points against top Six (I'm including LCFC, AFC, CFC & Spurs) will probably be greater than the other 13 teams, but I suspect they wont get more points against the rest than relegation teams.
Fact is, we can't score more than 1 goal per match and that's normally from a pen or a debatable VAR decision. On another day our goal against pool would have been wiped out, leading to yet another defeat. Maybe things will change with Martial back in the side but I wouldn't get my hopes up. At the moment the opposition know if they can score once they're getting at least a draw. It's going to take the cavalry in January to pull us out of the hole we're in.
Back down to 14th we go as the mighty Sheffield Utd leapfrog us to go 9th as they beating Arsenal 1-0.

Hard to see us displacing Chelsea or Leicester out of top four. They have better squads and better managers.
But before that we'd have to deal the North London clubs as well.

That’s very depressing and Ole must go if that turns out to be true. I’d be looking for 12 minimum.
7 points will be great, actually. That means we will be on 17 points and most likely will be a good 4-5 points off relegation, so probably an improvement..
I said earlier in this thread, that once you get stuck in the bottom third of the table, it's very difficult to climb out of it as the other teams around you will be taking points off each other, when they meet.
Odd wins and draws will only result in jockeying for position with the other clubs around you, but still stuck in the bottom group and risking dropping into the bottom 3.
Anything other than a run of 3 wins or more in 4 or 5 games, will be like trying to run in a sea of treacle.

After tonight's (Arsenal/Sheffield) match I am more convinced than ever that the current top 4 will be the final top 4: City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Leicester. Man Utd. will finish probably mid-table and possibly lower because of the demands of this years Europa League on the young squad. This squad issue is not helped by the weakness in the medical team that seems to extend to more than 'bad luck'. Ole will be manager as long as it is mathematically possible to get a Champions league spot next season and if Utd go deep into the EL cup that could be most of the season. However once that is not the case he will be sacked - I am certain of it - it is a minimum target and on all the contracts for any modern Utd. manager and any talk about him staying long-term to build things up over several transfer windows is just fake news.
Captaincy is 1 of main priorities. At the moment I don't know who it is ? Give the armband to Pogba and see his reaction. If positive,start building a real team around a real leader, the guy is 1 of the best players worlwide !

In January sell martial and pogba and with the decent amount of money get a goal scorer and midfielder with brain, passion and good mechanical health and we will probably finish top 6 and have a team without wasters and the nucleus to become a team with good team spirit. Simples.

I so agree with this, some fans are too petty, mysel included at times. If he was allowed to play in the same position he could have been a giant in the team. Same goes for Herrera.
If Ole is here the entire season I think we could finish as low at 15th.
Next 3 league games are Norwich, Bournemouth and Brighton. If he can manage 6 points out of those, he could well be sitting above Tottenham and in the top half of the table.
