If that was the first Liverpool game you'd seen this season you'd have to say they are the most overhyped team in the league. But the table doesn't lie so I'm pissed off that we lost but happy that we actually didn't look totally outclassed. It's the lack of depth and quality on the squad that is killing us right now. Ole has got to save himself and our season by bringing in some creativity into the squad.

We had our chances during the match while being outplayed for the most part and the players showed fight. On these aspects, it was a much better performance than the completely gutless display in the same fixture last season. But this is no less depressing or humiliating, and does not hide the widening chasm between the two teams - the play first and foremost, then the players, the coaching. The less said about off-field management the better.

Looking at this match in isolation, it may not be too concerning. But seeing how we have come to this point and how we are progressing at the moment, it is very worrying indeed. To me, many of our fans seem to be in a state of delusions, saying things like we were unlucky to lose, we would win if we had Pogba, McT and Rashford in the line-up, the pool is just a boring long ball team, etc. If we pick only selective moments in the game to judge, these comments may be true. But looking at the game as a whole, and the diverging progresses of the two clubs in the past two seasons, I am afraid these are nothing but delusions.

To improve and really progress, we need to see reality for what it is, not our warped illusion. If those responsible for the running of the club think like how these supporters believe, god bless the club.

Lets be honest our lack of quality and depth cost us this one. We had two chances which should have been buried. Liverpool had a lot of pressure, but you would expect that at Anfield. The difference was they got the ball forwards and were incisive, we got the ball forwards to James and Pereira and made a bollocks of it time and again. Agree with this. I thought they didn't solve United's pressing well at all. Hoofing it in the general direction of Salah isn't really heavy metal football, is it? That said, there were United players with sub par performances.... again.

What I saw yesterday was 11 players trying hard against a better team (the best team in the league). 2-0 was a fair result IMO, but our team never gave up.

What is needed are a few good signings, but the core is there.

Good summary. It's a shame that Matic's legs have gone, you can see the football brain is still strong and he imposes himself physically. Fred is now consistently performing, as one would expect a Brazilian world cup squad player to do.

Do they? Rashford already had a single fracture before the Wolves game. I'm no medical expert but I'd say any sort of fracture should be given time to heal instead of risking a more serious injury like a double fracture by keeping on playing. The club took a gamble and lost big time which isn't the first time this season. Flogging dead horses springs to mind.
