Spain is out of control. Lots of people don't take it seriously and are going to the mountain and the beach. they will start taking it seriously when it will be too late. Spain is going to the herd immunity way without the governments advise (that had been slow too in react)

One of my friends lives in Surrey and he says the same there. Tinned food, soap, hand gel, loo rolls, and all sorts of stuff that you don’t think people would hoard.
Really pisses me off though. No one doubts we’re in for a rough time but the ‘I’m alright Jack’ and ‘trample on all others’ mentality is something I’ve never understood.

The R0 rate seems to be about 2-2.5 with this virus, so it isn’t the most contagious (think how scary that statement is given the state of the world). Lots of people will have plenty of contact with contagious people and not get it. Catalonian government asked the spanish government for full lockdown. So far the government didn't give that order. Is doing better than Madrid area, but not much better. Understandably they are the 2 biggest cities and if it is doing better is for shear luck. Dumbfeckery is all over the place right now

I think you’d be surprised how successfully you can stop the spread of disease in close contact if you are really careful and preferred. This is where FPP3 masks are most valuable if infected and healthy people have to be in close proximity for a while.What else? Don't go to the toilet or eat either? People can do what they can but you if you have a family then you will still be isolating with them around.

You look at places like China or Japan where people with colds have routinely worn face masks for years to prevent others from catching the disease from them.
Then you look at the UK where face masks are being worn primarily as a form of protection from others, and people are going batshit over hoarding toilet rolls in the most selfish ways possible.
It's one of the unique things that provides a different challenge to the policy makers on these shores, and why it's not possible to take the same draconian measures that we see in Singapore, for example.

Valencia province has closed all bars, restaurants, sports centres, public buildings etc. The schools are shut from Monday.
