Protests following the killing of George Floyd

Poison Idea - Discontent should be the soundtrack of these last couple of days.

So much discontent in this hatefilled place
How could you want a master race?
We all got to learn to help each other
You are my sister, you are my brother!

Open up your eyes and see, people living in harmony
Listen Nazi Never Again!
Open up your mouth and scream!!!, some of us still have a dream
Listen Nazi Never Again!
Open up your mind and think, what you spew really stinks
Listen Nazi Never Again!
Open up your ears to peace, will this bullshit ever cease?
Never Again!!!

We're members of the same nation
One suppressing opposition
One way we can all be free
Fight the REAL Enemy!!

@onemanarmy I prefer Guns n Roses - Civil War

Look at your young men fighting
Look at your women crying
Look at your young men dying
The way they've always done before

Look at the hate we're breeding
Look at the fear we're feeding
Look at the lives we're leading
The way we've always done before

My hands are tied
The billions shift from side to side
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride
For the love of God and our human rights
And all these things are swept aside
By bloody hands time can't deny
And are washed away by your genocide
And history hides the lies of our civil wars

D'you wear a black armband
When they shot the man
Who said, "Peace could last forever."?
And in my first memories
They shot Kennedy
An' I went numb when I learned to see
So I never fell for Vietnam
We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all
That you can't trust freedom
When it's not in your hands
When everybody's fightin'
For their promised land

Because it's can't relate to that being accepted as okay
It isn't but that happens a lot. Seen similar responses reported in similar police related killings. When people have called police stations they''ve been treated with disgust when that topic is approached.

Coincidentally, discovered this guy’s work earlier this week. Super smart, thoughtful dude. His podcast is excellent.

His face and response to Maitlis trying to suggest, in a lecturing tone, that the legacy of slavery/racism in the US was incomparable to Britain was especially good. And the comparison between the ‘MeToo’ movement and BLM I found very crass too. British mainstream media is still often guilty of terrible attempts at approaching and framing racism.

Pelosi is more upset that the Four Seasons restaurant is no longer open.

Some other songs that come to mind:

Inner City Blues - Marvin Gaye
Ohio - Neil Young

Holding up a book that's been used to install and maintain social control for centuries; it figures. Heck, even Black folks look to a white man's god for guidance and solace, so effective is the brainwashing.

Was just skimming through the thread. Your friends situation is quite similar to this tweet, the people in which are getting shamed for no reason.
That literally happened in America though within the last few weeks. A group of mostly whites protested to be able to go to brunch and now a mixed coalition is fighting for equal rights.

To be fair to Maitlis, her job is to ask those sort of questions as a decent proportion of the viewers will have that attitude.

Yeah he’s a good un. I grew up in the same estate as him, him and his group all had their heads screwed on despite problems in the area. The story about Julien Cole that he talks about is horrific. Took so many years for action to be taken against the coppers involved too.

Been listening to a lot of 5 live and 1 extra today. A very emotional day. I think I'm going to have to have a rethink of my views on life.

Maybe posted before but this is fecking disgusting. Some cops are a disgrace. Sickening when he puts pressure on the kids neck after what happens to George Floyd.

I believe this incident happened before Floyd's death.

Yea it’s from a month or so back, and it’s actually a young lad. Was posted in the “cop doing a bad job” thread, you’ll be surprised to hear the PD defended the cop.
