Woodward, Glazers....

Alright anyone should feck off with violence(I know you didn't condone it). It's football. However in the co-vid 19 climate it's riper than ever to call for boycott of the club.

Never condone it but its inevitable. He's already had people at his home ffs. If he had anything about him he'd step down or go back to the background and appoint a DOF. He's clearly out of his depth.

What's stopping this DOF search? His ego.

It will only take the club being on the brink of financial disaster to force the glazers to pack up and leave. They’re looking for a new sponsor to replace Chevy, I genuinely hope the glazers are getting laughed out of every boardroom. The commercial revenue will eventually dry up and so will the number of international supporters, if we continue on this path.

Hate to say it but I think it holds true for some or most, I’d take financial disaster at the club for the glazers to feck off and leave. At that point it would trigger a billionaire oligarch or consortium to purchase the club.
Surely the only way to financial disaster is relegation and cutting off the PL money, only trouble there is a parachute payment and all the money they make from selling disgruntled players who would not want to drop down. Then just enough money spent to get back up to the PL TV money again.

Eh, long-time experience in similar circles. You get to see the type. A hell of a lot. The "kids-actually-own-the-stuff-but-have-the-steward-manage-and-sign-off-on-everything" arrangement. Also am American and picked things up about the Glazers through social osmosis. Avram was 'CEO' of a dying company (and put there by his dad to practice, nonetheless); Bryan Glazer went to law school, but to a school that you just nod politiely when you hear its name - if you even recognize it - in the topmost circles (And if you do recognize it, you do so because it's a joke school, as in "If you don't study hard, ________ is the only law school you'll get into"). Things like that. Little signs that the kids are nowhere near as capable as the father. None of the kids ever built/acheieved anything like their father did. Papa Glazer is the only one who ever built/did anything successful, whatever one may think of his mores.

Anyway, obviously he'll (Woodward) defer to them on some things and it may even be that they've grown out of their father's shadow a bit (the 'Martial is our Pele' thing for example). And obviously they can technically fire him, and have "final sign off" on things.

It's also kind of common sense. King wants to buy a castle. Heirs are nowhere near as savvy as the king. Literally everyone in the land says no we can't help you buy that castle. One vizier says, there is a way; helps buy the king the castle. King dies. Vizier tells the heirs: don't worry, I'll keep us within a certain bandwidth. Kids are mostly going to defer to that vizier when it comes to the nuts and bolts of operations. Most people will have seen a similar arrangement in a movie or TV show or book, or even real life.

Point is just that Woodward isn't their "puppet". And going forward, it may be useful for the fanbase to understand the nuances. It's much more complex and dynamic than that.
Does make sense. Would also explain how Woodward is still in a job after nearly 8 years of failure.

Cheers.

Also, a DOF would need to be told that the club target is only top 4. There are not many world class DOFs who would stand for that. If we ever got rid they would also tell the press. That's why I think we will never get an effective DOF if at all.

It's the worst case scenario isn't it? The love of your life leaves you, and after a suitable period getting drunk and listening to too much Phil Collins, you feel stronger and ready to find someone new.
Your beloved old car finally grinds to a halt, you can easily buy a shiny new model.
You lose your faithful old hound after many years of walks and companionship but after a period of grieving, no one would question your yearning to go out and buy a new pup.
But you can't walk away from your team. You can't just wake up one morning and decide you will now start supporting xxxxx. It is emotionally impossible after years of triumphs, fabulous occasions and stunning evenings of excitement, as well as long barren periods of absolute shittiness.
You just can't transfer that affection.
And this is why we are so frustrated and appalled by it all and why we rant away on here, in a sort of mutual self help group, running the full gamut of emotions, posting everything from stoical utterances to quasi threats and not well thought out solutions. We just cannot fully comprehend why the owners and board don't seem to have the same emotional attachment.
They have got us by the short and curlies.

Woodward used to work in the JP Morgan M&A team - if as many of his deals there ended as the transfers here do, he'd have been fired pretty sharpish.

Saw the Rio one before. LVG: Evra:Jose. Even if they buy Sancho and whoever you want, Ed is still a pig. That’s what he is. He and the owners, the Glazers, are eating the soul of MUFC. #GlazersOut #WoodwardOut

I remember Googling the board to compare and contrast to Bayern Munich's around 6 months ago and was struck at how unimpressive (at least academically) the Glazer children were. They basically all went to dumb white schools like American University, Ithaca College or the Whittier Law School

sycophant

"a person who acts obsequiously towards someone important in order to gain advantage" Well I tell you now I have met a few PWC boys who are of this type. Now I wonder which two Boyo's at OT fit this bill

With our Ex players coming out and slamming Ed and Woodward and rightly so, we should start do the same.

Can some mods gathers our members in start doing the same, simple ideas like tweeting on social media etc, which have been done earlier but it's the only way I guess in covid 19 times

Ed and Woodward ,two of these feckers around are there?

Fans in the Glazer reign get upset every year about our transfer windows but then are given a cheap token at the end that fans can build castles in the air on thinking they have potential. This is a strategy that they use to keep fans onside.

Said it before fan base lacks coordination to gain traction. Tweets are only part of the media offensive required. Sadly money required along with figureheads ie ex players & celebrity fans. Organised to undermine the regime & start to expose not only mis management but also anything else via some investigative journalism.

This is what required to hit our share price along with commercials. Result increase the chance of the regime selling up.

This article has been posted in the Jando Sancho transfer thread, but I think is more appropriate for this thread with interesting content about our financial covenants and having to maintain a certain level of profit (it says £65m per year). It doesn't actually state what the ramifications are if we drop below that level of profit, but it's conclusions about the lack of transfer business certainly seem feasible.

I’m not too au fait with this sort of shit but when are the Q4 financial results published? And could this have any impact on transfers?

Interesting read that.

Forget COVID, we've had the Glazer virus now for 15 years and it's time they fecked off for good.

A large section of our fanbase still need waking up to see the damage that the Glazers are doing.

What statement do you think Woodward will brief if he doesn’t sign Sancho

(knowing how much anger many United fans feel towards him)

COVID and the next six months of uncertainty probably. He alluded to it in programme notes before.

I'm trying to think of the most successful fan campaign which ousted useless owners?

I want them gone but it ain't happening in the near future. Woodward though. That cnut could be shifted today if we stood up to be counted. Woodward seems to value social media over a lot of other more important things. There is a lot of hatred right now in the comments section from our supporters, that's why he is pissed and it has to be sustained regardless of results or anyone else brought in. Woodward out would be a bigger step for this club right now than buying Sancho.

Interesting. £65m profit required each year. It is in times like this we will suffer the most in comparison to non debt ridden clubs. Even more so than the £1bn they've taken out of the club so far.

We should be in a position to strike and.imporve ahead of our rivals. We have the highest turnover. But unfortunately we are held back by Glazer debt once again.

Depressing.

Ed must have the thickest skin ever. People say he’s an egomaniac and cares about how he’s perceived but given the millions of people slating him on a daily basis, and he continues to piss all over the club, thus inflaming people’s hatred move-you would think he doesn’t give a shit what people think

Be this, like the “more then anyone else” line, just to drive it home. That’ll definitely convince people.

Its not profit its EBITDA which in the last set of accounts stood at £185.4m.

Signing Sancho wouldn't affect EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest Tax Depreciation Amortisation) affect that in anyway.

That won’t work because Woody told us during lockdown that COVID-19 would work in our favour.

You’re right but judging by that Telegraph story Woordward and his PR team thinks we’re stupid. So they’ll still try it, even when we point out clubs with less revenue and no sugar daddy owner spent more.

"World class DOF" isn't a thing, that's why clubs generally create their own DOF.
