For only 2 years and she was only nominated for that due to Trump lining her up for this gig. She wasn't experienced enough for either appointment but especially not this latest appointment. Not that you would expect anything less from this shit show of an administration.

This is my point. The majority of Americans believe her confirmation should have waited. Maybe it won't matter, but it's definitely a weird scenario.

Did not know this. Imagine how every other judge that has served multiple years, even decades must feel seeing a partisan hack getting a SCOTUS gig inside three years judgeship. Dems must stack the courts when they gain full control again.

The Supreme Court being as political as it is is a major issue in itself. A court, and especially a Supreme Court, should be as apolitical as possible and lawmakers should have no say in who goes on it. At best they should get a short-list compiled by an independent body that they're allowed to choose from.
Well the Dems in the case of a sweep need to
1. pack the lower courts
2. get House to increase the SC judge count to 15 and pack the SC
3. pass Congressional rule to limit number of appointments per President to 2
That's what the GOP would do. They are unlikely to win the House as long as they stay this far to the right.

USA is a land of religious extremism, nepotism in politics, inequality and white power. Amy Coney Barrett will do a great job in relevance to that.
Hyperbole much? As an atheist in America, I would say I feel like we are far from a extremist religious nation. We still suffer from many of the same things that many nations do (things like "religion = good" and nonsense like that) but, by and large, religion is generally not a major factor in most peoples lives here. I don't like the trend in our politics but the great thing is that our system generally self corrects eventually.
I had a feeling that their went any decent people left in the Republican Party that weren't genuine idiots. Now it's a certainty. This is a complete farce, and is completely reprehensible.

I had somewhat similar opinions as Snow when I used to live in Europe but I agree it is hyperbole.
Most of urban America is not religious, generally friendly, polite, helpful and not racist. I obviously can't speak for suburbia and small town America but my interaction with small town Americans who moved to the bigger cities has always been pleasant as well.

Fair point. In Maryland, religion is something a few do on Sunday morning but that's about it. I imagine in the South, it's a different story.
It's ingrained in your culture and politics. It plays a huge role. You just put an inexperienced person into one of the highest offices for life based mostly on religion.

That's a fairly low bar to clear, but she'll certainly cement conservative hegemony and block anything progressive (or not even that, by getting rid of the ACA). She's a hardcore Republican and they don't do good things.
Hopefully the Dems get a clear win next week and Biden realises he's got one term and gets packing.

My anecdotal contribution is that the foster famil of my friend who went on a trip with us when he graduated pretty much grilled me on my belief system immediately after they found out I could converse in English.

I cannot remember when anyone last asked me that. Probably at school where one of the lingering fringe of the catholic/protestant loonies in the West of Scotland were trying to identify if they should hate me or not.

I have found that telling southerners and Wisconsinites (super heavy Lutheran) that I am Catholic sends them running. Or they curse me out.
