Are you not seeing this from the wrong perspective? If Arsenal, Chelsea et al are not in the CL but in the SL.It gives everyone else the chance to go in the CL. The SL isnt coming in to replace but rather compete against the CL.

They're going to play in a CL that has been devalued by an enormous magnitude by not having football's biggest clubs in it. What "CL money" do you think there will be at that point?

You think City would be happy if they were the traditional big club and Utd came from nowhere with cash from some oil rich Prince? Of course they wouldn't.

State ran clubs are the reason this idea is even being floated and I hate it. I want football to go back to when clubs actually earned their way to the top. But those days are done.

PSG and City have taken the piss and big clubs have had enough.

What competition? The SL would have the world's biggest, richest clubs involved along with all the best players. It would kill the CL as we know it.

What is the point if we get kicked out of the PL and cup competitions. So just left with a super league, that someone might run away with so most games will be glorified friendlies with nothing riding on them.

Ofcourse I do believe that. The domestic leagues is tied to their existence and identity. It's the soul of match going fans. No one is touching or changing it. Forget all that - we earn approximately 2-3 millions as gate revenues during match day. Do you really think we would sacrifice close to 100m for another mere 50 m ?

Aye. PL and UEFA should have had the foresight to enforce the German ownership model, in the 90's, they didn't, it resulted in Abramovich and then just went into fecking orbit with the UAE and Qatar sponsoring their own tinpot football teams, two teams that within a decade went from obscurity to looking set to be the dominant forces in football for a long time.
Two sides that traditional clubs simply cannot compete with long term, the rate of acceleration with that domination is crystal clear for all to see.
 
I will never watch any of these clubs games again, ever in my life, if this goes through and becomes reality.
My club did well in the 90s. Now we have no chance at all due to the Uefa changes and commercial rights money in the big leagues. And to hear these big rich clubs complain and want more. To be so egocentered and greedy. So entitled.
Kudos to the german and french clubs for having a backbone. We from lesser nations are just being pushed even further down the pissing stream after this I guess. Since propably the big feckers do not want to play against smaller nations teams and even if the new league is cancelled, UEFA will give them what they want and establish a top5 CL. Commercialisation, centralising, greed and class differences. Like rest of society, so with football. puke.

Hows that? ESL hasn't said that CL would go away, right? I thought teams are going to play domestic leagues,CL and ESL ?

for sure I can see that to an extent. I will say the Glazers bought Utd and raped it of profits and used it as a bank loan. that’s different to oil money. I’d suggest totally blaming city is a little rich. If you read my post it was to cross boundaries and we are all fans. however each have their own views. Id suggest this has grown and grown. Greed and egos.

Every single CL final has featured a team from the new Super League. With the SL team winning a majority of them.

if it goes ahead, Bayern will for sure join it too in no time.

As I have said, that would probably lead do bankrupcy for most English clubs, as they would not be able to pay wages, because of the TV deal, which would go down a lot and not from the next contract, but this existing deal would change drasticly.
 
I am horrified and disgusted that Spurs are part of this. If they break away from the premiership I'm done supporting them honestly. I say that after supporting them for almost 40 years through thick and thin.

I don't know as that is way above my pay grade. But FIFA have stated previously and UEFA reiterated it today thet they will be looking into it.

Personally, I believe this is all brinkmanship. It is still disgusting.

No one watches those games anyway. It's a teams responsibility to be better and have people want to watch them, you can't put that on the competition or broadcaster
