Look to the owners. Why would we expect anything different from them, it's not at all surprising to me.
Not really. In the grand scheme of things, football clubs make up a small proportion of the UK economy. Removing/changing ownership of companies means overseas investors may re-think investing in any industry, if there is the threat that the government will just effectively nationalise. They won't do it, it'll be economic suicide on the back of Brexit.
How do you take it from them? You pay them off? Cheating is one thing, but private owneship is another thing. Especially in the west it is a big deal. And what about other investmens?

... in the short term, maybe... but I think the "super" clubs see a breakaway from UEFA as inevitable. Just as the premier league clubs didn't want the Football League, the super clubs don't want UEFA.
Tottenham, Arsenal, City, Atlético Madrid... 0 CL trophies between them. At the level of championships, all together shouldn't sum up to half the number of championships wins for clubs like Ajax, Benfica, Celtic, set to languish, in a world apart, because their prestige is not backed by the green paper.

Everyone talking about punishments, point deductions etc. but are there actually any legal grounds to do so? As this never happened before I would assume there will be plenty of grey areas for the clubs to exploit and avoid any kind of punishment.
Fair, I’m just seeing this as almost a negotiation tactic to reform the UCL, but you might be right.

Isn’t the point they’re making somewhat watered down by the fact it’s on a channel you need to subscribe to to watch, one of 3 UK broadcasters that the Premier League sold tv rights to for this season meaning fans have to pay exorbitant amounts just to watch the games (oh and by the way in normal seasons you’re not even guaranteed to see all your games).
The super league is trash and I hope it gets binned but the PL can’t pretend they’re not just as greedy as the feckwit owners.
Their lawyers aren't stupid. No doubt they've done their research.
That’s the point I was trying to say it’s these clubs that will lose in the long run if the big leagues have the balls to kick them because there is plenty there to replace them.

The initiators are Perez, Agnelli and one of Bayern executives.
i can’t see how you can get points deduction for your intention to do something in a couple of years.

besides, even if they could, if you deduct points, that’s the end of the league. At present it’s just posturing, and there will be a compromise.

Especially after the PPV stuff they tried to introduce.
The TV money would dry up fast from the PL without the top clubs and players outside the top 6 would want to play in the top competition which would be the super league, the PL is absolutely crushed and so are the remaining teams if they kick the top 6 out.
They have no choice but to let them continue no matter what they’re trying to say in these statements. Same goes for FIFA they aren’t banning players, who wants to watch a World Cup filled with players from Villa, Everton, Villarreal, Getafe etc it Would be a massive sham that does nothing bud damage their own organisation.
The more you read, the more this comes across as a politicised PR stunt by these 12 ‘super clubs’ to leverage the power of their brands against UEFA and its future plans for the European Club competitions. From a PR standpoint mind, it has been fairly disastrous so far since this story broke.

Worst of all is that you know these games would eventually be taken on tour like the Harlem Globetrotters. America, China, Japan, Mexico, wherever they can fill a stadium for $300 a ticket.
