I bet he is talking about the Glazers. They just do not care about anything, only about money. You saw, how they toke over United, and they did not care about the club, the fans or the history - they just wanted a good buisness. I don't see how these 6 teams can be allowed to continue playing in the Premier League if this commences and they're pocketing hundreds of millions more than the other teams in the League in some side competition that they control and almost no one else can enter. The deck is already stacked against them and this would turn it into a farce, they would have to be banned out of fair play.
Still been absorbing this and when someone up the thread mentioned how we will never have the chance to lift the European Cup again, it really hits home. It's just so sad. No team will ever be able to truly claim they are kings of Europe again.

Reckon they would spend big year one, I would be amazed if all the founders don't to try and drive interest. It would quickly tail off though.
On this point, the American sports work in a closed shop environment because colleges are HUGE business and keep up the regular supply of top quality sportsmen ready to take the step into the NFL, NBL etc.
Where do the next generation of footballers come from? Right now, kids play on parks then go to a local junior club then maybe a county team then get spotted by scouts but there are 92 clubs (and non league) to take them in.. they don't all go straight to United or Madrid, plenty take a circuitous route. Without the pyramid (the equivalent breeding ground to US college system), it's done?

Don't think it matters much to be honest. Games would ideally be played all over the world, and for every local fan who's not turning up out of protest there's probably ten who would die to attend a Liverpool-Utd or Barca-Real tie, especially in the USA or Asia.

Do i think it means we are more likely to sign Haaland? No! but I think it means we may actually have the money to sign Haaland, if he wanted to come here. People seem to completely ignore the effect the pandemic has had on football and are still having paddies when clubs don't spend 100's of millions on the latest flavour of the week.
Uefa were bullied into expanding the CL mainly by the g14 and English clubs. Lets not forget that, that idea was pushed through by some of the same shitty clubs behind this ESL. They wanted to play top European level without earning it and cover their own asses.
The CL got expanded to accommodate them and their greed, or should Uefa have kept it the same size allowed 4 teams from England and denied the Dutch/Russian leagues their chances.
They thought if there was more spots for them they'd never miss out, but they still conspired to feck things up. Then it was again those clubs who demanded a bigger reformed CL (that they could never miss out on as past winners etc...)
Uefa were again gonna crumble and have CL reform where it again expanded and clubs like United could never miss out because of a ranking bonus based on history. You think shit like that was a Uefa idea?

Genuine question. Could the government get involved to seize the 6 clubs from the owners? Put some form of social importance on them to stop this happening again in the future? It should have been done years ago. The sport has far more importance to European people than money.

I wouldn't be surprised if they see the future of football as more akin to American sports franchises - businesses first, with a fanbase that is geographically flexible (and far larger than any NFL or NBA franchise), and one that is not bound to any location. The city in the club's name is mostly there for legacy and branding purposes - you can't buy that kind of brand loyalty after all. Does a fan in India, China, or the US care more about the club, its superstar players, or its domestic League?
It takes a quite astonishing level of cnutishness to create a system where EUFA, FIFA and PSG come out of it looking like the good guys.
As someone in the US who has gone to games United played for pre season here (including the famous 110k+ attended game against Real in Michigan) I have zero interest in seeing any of the clubs actual make this international thing a permanent thing- especially for actual league games. One game or so like the NFL does being played in one of the cities is one thing - to make it part of a multiple game rotation just feels wrong - like you strip the clubs identity away like it has no relevance at all.Dont forget Perez already tried this with La Liga.
