Would pressuring sponsors be more effective than protesting against the Glazers directly?

All of this definitely helps, but I think the time has come to be organized. If all fans now see this as the end game, which I think we do, then I think it's time for something structured, organized, and centralized with a name and a face. Something fans can back globally in order to carry the fight to the glazers where they will really feel the pain. At the moment they see us as fans bumping into each and disorganized. There's so much potential to really hurt the Glazers, particularly in the media, but I just think it has to be a structured organized movement for fans to unite behind and promote everywhere. From the man in the street, to the rich and famous, celebrities, and even ex players.

Most of those are shite or don't use them so it's not hard.

Who the feck drives a chevy? Chivas is shite whisky, Konami only make PES these days. The only two that have any relevance to my life are Adidas and Cadbury and the latter isn't as good as it used to be.
 
the key is social media pressure on those brands/companies

they don't care if you don't consume their products, they will only care if their name gets dragged through the mud on social media constantly by many world wide users

same with any company owned or associated to the glazers, put the pressure there to reach them

I’m not sure an influx of people going to review sites showing a massive increase in brand awareness is people thinking it through.

Their rating is similar to Volkswagen, Coca Cola, McDonalds and pretty much every other corporation

I'm pretty sure it'll have little or no effect as the review sites will realise its all spam or biased reviews and remove them.

It gave me a good chuckle this morning when I saw it in twitter all the same.

A littie bit of sponsor upset can't be a bad thing either way
 
I don’t even know what a Team Viewer is. I lost interest in shirt sponsorships when I realised I couldn’t go out and buy an AON or to this day know what the hell they are

The sponsors have signed the contracts and are paying money right now. If they want to break that contract they will pay penalties, usually stiff ones. The Glazers will then bring in new sponsors and likely make more money from an aggregate view.

The time to do this would have been before the new shirt sponsor was announced.

No but the sponsors won’t be happy and it’s more pressure, one thing alone what get rid of the Glazers but making as much as possible uncomfortable for them is exactly the right thing to do.

Having the Glazers as owners is as much self destruction as you can get.

It all but ensures we will never be the best or even one of the best teams in the world again.
 
I think this is a fantastic idea. I have supported United since the late-90s but live stateside. I think those who are organizing these protests would do well to circulate a list containing the following a) names of sponsors and b) what a non-Manchester-based supporter of the club could do express their displeasure about United's ownership to said sponsor. E.g., TeamViewer - install the TeamViewer app, give it a 1/5 rating, and then deleting the app.

sorry and i am no fan of the glazers but they took over in 2005 and in fact we were the best team in the world afterwards in 2008. and we are not too far away now. also its a myth that there is not enough money made avalable for the team. we invested enough in the last years but only since ole the money is well spent. so in fact i can see us geting to the top again under the glazers also.
of course i would be glad if we had owners who cared more for the club and not the business but thats a naive wish. there are only two types of owners left nowadays - business men and rich people that use their club as their toys.
 
Change the ownership TO what? This idea it naturally follows that we’ll be snapped up by a bounty benevolent billionaires is bonkers.

We really are getting to the point where fans are going to have to point out that just because something is anti Glazer doesn’t mean it isn’t intellectually illiterate

The risk some are willing to take because seemingly they think you find an owner by swiping right on an app is scary.

Going after sponsors isn't something new, it just rarely works. It was attempted in the early 2000's when the Yanks took over the club. Season tickets were burnt, sponsors were targeted, a protest club was formed, death threats towards the yanks. It made feck all of a difference.

The breaking point where sponsors doesn't want to be associated with the club is miles away, it would also be an epic disaster we'd struggle to recover from.

Seems like long term you are destined to fail with that attitude. You are naive if you think they will just up and leave after a few protests.

We have had these owners for 16 years since 2005. I think we need to start thinking 4 years ahead if required. So yes, boycotting or influencing sponsors is a perfectly viable strategy.
 
Of course making the club a sponsor pariah for future investment will undoubtedly help the future owners who we’ll create by magic like adding a player to FIFA and we’ll give him 100 score for utter brilliance so he’ll bring us cake on our birthday and everything.

why not burn the stadium down? I can only see good coming from that as we can pick an owner who can build stadiums. Jeff from Amazon can afford that we need to consider his investment as good as in hand and dismiss caution as pro glazer (possibly centrist) fear mongering.

We need a sub-forum for all protests / anti-Glazer stuff. This will only get bigger.

I'm pretty happy about the targeting of TeamViewer. As always, there's fans who find fault with every single bit of dissent, whether it's because they are completely defeatist in their mentality or they are somehow merged into "real politics" where they are married to the short-term and the status quo. But this is actually the way to go as it puts huge pressure on the Glazer scum.
 
To be honest, I think this is a stupid path to take. If it ever got too serious, Manutd would be blacklisted by many companies as a sponsorship opportunity. The revenue will be dented long term for sponsorship deals, owing to the potential trouble. It will be considered high risk. Combine the high risk and lower demand to sponsor them, the fee received will come crashing down. This will likely have a long-term impact.

I think this could lead to far worse financial conditions than what we currently have under the Glazers. I mean push on with this if you want, but don't go in with the expectation that Manutd will recover. It may push the Glazers to sell, but potential buyers would be put off by this action. What is already a limited pool of potential buyers will become even more limited.

We had the best manager in the world in 2008, nothing to do with Glazers. Since he left we haven’t even been the best team in Manchester for one season. Any success will be despite these owners who lack the intelligence, ambition and will to run a successful football club.

They spend money on the team because they have to and when they do it’s a mess, any area like the stadium where they can avoid spending they do.

Maybe another businessman follows them but probably a more intelligent and successful one, wouldn’t be difficult.
