Glazer Statement

Well that's that sorted then. Everyone, put your green and yellow crowbars in the cupboard.

The timing of the protest couldn't be better as these leeches were facing pressure from all sides from the Super League fallout./

What a load of absolute nonsense. Says a lot but says nothing at all.

I do wonder if they will spend big this summer just to try shut us up.

While it shouldn't work it would if we are honest.

There's one thing this is good for, printing it out and wiping your arse with it.

These clowns don't realise the horse has bolted. 16 years of shite and we've had enough.

The proof is in the pudding, there's evidence there, they're not going to change. Time to go.

"We recognise that the Government-initiated, fan-led review of football is a positive opportunity to explore new structures for fan engagement and influence. I can assure you that we will willingly and openly engage in the review, with the aim of putting fans at the heart of the game and ensuring their interests are advanced and protected."

This is the only section that I'm interested in. Also, I now expect a strong summer in terms of spending so that they can try to "win back" support

Nice one Joel, all sorted now mate.

Had no idea skimming off cash from the club whilst ignoring the supporters was part of the clubs traditions but there you go.

Improved communication?

If they can back the promises made, I will be fine with them being the owners considering at current price only oil merchants with money to burn will be able to afford us. Any other takeover will be significantly higher leveraged buyout

"We'll fix the leak and pretend to care about what you think as fans

Can you stop protesting now and err leaving shitty trustpilot reviews for TeamViewer ?"

Congratulations to the PR department on another highly formulaic PR statement.

Interestingly letter also touched upon investment in Old Trafford and training facilities with emphasis on being best in the business .

I know it could very well be hot air from Glazers but it's a start atleast them acknowledging what needs to be done going forward.

Words are nothing and they don't deserve any more time

They don't deserve the benefit of the doubt at all and I'm worried MUST will give it to them.

If they actually cared they'd make a statement by personally clearing the debt if they care so much

That will stop the 2nd protest

Dear xxxxx,

You will probably be aware that a number of fan representatives wrote to the club last Friday as part of our Fans’ Forum discussions. They raised a number of points in relation to fan engagement, consultation and governance. Joel Glazer, the club’s Executive Co-Chairman, has today sent the response below to those representatives which we want to share with you. This will also shortly be published on manutd.com.

Kind regards
Manchester United Football Club

Dear fan representatives

Thank you for your letter dated April 30, sent in your capacity as representatives of Manchester United fans. I read the contents closely and your love and passion for the club came across very clearly.

I want to salute your service to the Fans’ Forum, which I know is a vital channel for consultation between the club and our fans. As I recently stated publicly, I am personally committed to ensuring that we strengthen this relationship in future.

Your heartfelt letter captured the unique spirit of Manchester United, forged through decades of triumph, adversity and tragedy, and still powerfully present in today’s exciting team under Ole and the vibrant fanbase which you represent.

I was personally humbled by parts of your letter, as you explained so clearly why our initial support for the European Super League left you feeling angry and let down. I would like to reiterate my sincere apology for the mistakes that were made.

In particular, I want to acknowledge the need for change, with deeper consultation with you as our main fan representative body across a range of important issues, including the competitions we play in. We also recognise the importance of fan and football interests being embedded in key decision-making processes at every level of the club, and we are open to constructive discussions on how to reinforce that principle.

We remain committed to working with the wider football community to make the game stronger and more sustainable over the long-term, and we will now refocus our efforts on doing this within the existing structures of UEFA and the Premier League.

In addition, I want to reassure you that my family and I care deeply about Manchester United and feel a profound sense of responsibility to protect and enhance its strength for the long-term, while respecting its values and traditions.

Our top priority is, and will always be, competing for the most important trophies, playing entertaining football with a team comprised of top-quality recruits and some of the world’s best homegrown talent. Under Ole, we feel we are absolutely on the right track.

Success on the field must be underpinned by solid foundations off it. We have supported sustained investment in the team over many years, and that will continue this summer.

We recognise that we will need to significantly increase investment in Old Trafford and our training complex to ensure that the club’s facilities remain among the best in Europe. As part of this, we will consult with fans on investments related to the stadium and the matchday experience.

Indeed, one of the clearest lessons of the past few weeks is the need for us to become better listeners. To this end, I can commit the club will engage across all of the issues raised in your letter.

To highlight some specific points, as one of the few European football clubs listed on the public markets, we believe in the principle of fans owning shares in the club. We have previously engaged with the Manchester United Supporters’ Trust on fan share ownership and we want to continue and accelerate those discussions, together with provisions to enhance associated fan consultation.

We recognise that the Government-initiated, fan-led review of football is a positive opportunity to explore new structures for fan engagement and influence. I can assure you that we will willingly and openly engage in the review, with the aim of putting fans at the heart of the game and ensuring their interests are advanced and protected.

These commitments are a starting point for further dialogue, including all the specific points you raised, rather than final proposals.

We want to work together to come up with an ambitious package of measures which will transform our relationship with fans and strengthen the club for the long-term. In this spirit, we will reach out to members of the forum to schedule a meeting in which I shall participate as soon as possible after the final game of the season.

Thank you again for your work for the forum and your passion for the club. I look forward to meeting you and in the meantime let’s look forward to a successful end to the season.

With best regards
Joel Glazer
Executive Co-Chairman and Director

No, just leave. We don't want his money, we want him gone.

That would be the ideal, but in reality not many can afford to buy our club right now, and there's no guarantee's that anyone who does will be better (or worse) than them.

Until a better alternative is realistic, the best we can hope for is for them to actually put their money in the club and clear the debt.

Well, if they back up their words with actions then at least the protests have had some positive impact. I'll believe it when I see it though. This is probably the best we're going to get. They're never going to sell no matter what we do.

I do not want better communication, I literally could not care less about anything they have to say with 1 exception.

If they really understood then they would commit to clearing all debt within 12 months and commit to taking no dividend payments for the next 5 or 10 years. That would make me sit up and listen, that is not even starting on the fact that they need to agree to begin renovations on Old Trafford immediately.

Anything short of the above and I do not even want to click the link.

How convenient, offering solution to problem they themselves created...

Club needs serious look on football matters, further investments, structure and the backbone of people in charge... but yup, it's the communications what needs to improve. There's no PR team that could save that boat. Everything they say is just fuelling more violence and disdain.

Watch this space mark II.

They can't afford to clear the debt. Their whole business model is based upon getting the club at zero cost to them personally, by re-paying massive interest rates from club income.

Selling shares to fan groups, a roadmap for investment in the stadium and training facilities, fan group representation in major club decisions and working with the government to ensure legislation legally enabling that would all be huge steps forward...problem is they haven’t said when and seem to just be kicking the can down the road.

“ASAP after the season ends” could be 2078 ffs!

Till there are actions to back up the words, can't get too happy. I want to be optimistic though that it can happen. Pressure needs to be kept on them. Well done to all the protestors, especially the majority who didn't get involved in violence.

Whole lot of nothing, typical say a lot without actually saying anything

But atleast the recent protests have made them start saying the right things.
Hope some dialogue starts soon.

It's a scam. :wenger:

They can't afford to clear the debt. Their whole business model is based upon getting the club at zero cost to them personally, by re-paying massive interest rates from club income.

Which is why I said best scenario. They can certainly afford to pay some of the debt down.

Yeah, must have been sent out to all members at 3pm, same as the website post. Just what you want to see in your inbox on a Friday afternoon, lovely PR fluff from Joel Glazer.

Please DO NOT reply to this email.

I wonder how many "feck off, Joel"s this has already received

It'd be easier to get rid of them if there were interested parties, then we could pressure them to sell. But since there aren't, this is probably the best outcome, IF they actually follow through of course.

Good. At least they are taking notice, we better see some action otherwise this won't die out. Due to the almost impossibility of selling the club to good owners, I just want to see the changes we want.

In sure they could by now. Obviously they won't but if you really wanted to show things will change you go and clear the debt out of your own money.

Sell more non voting shares like they did a few months ago.
