Pogba

The thing is, he actually likes playing out wide in our lopsided 4-2-3-1 and it's essentially putting him in the same positions he used to take up at Juve either in Allegri's diamond or in Conte's 3-5-2, with even less defensive responsibility.

I don't think it's a case of us shoehorning him in there, it's moreso us finally figuring out where he can play best.

Whether that leads to him actually staying is another matter, and tbh I'm not that fussed if he stays or goes as we do seem to have good back up in almost all his preferred positions and roles when Sancho comes in.

However, if he does stay then for me, he's only ever going to be played out on the left. I don't see him ever playing in central midfield proper, outside of injuries and emergency.
One minute Pogba says he doesnt like playing in one position, next its another, then another. For France he plays where hes told to and if he doesnt like it, tough.

If and when he does finally leave I hope these cultists follow him. Clearly love Paul Pogba more than the club.

If anyone on here is arguing that Pogba is better than Bruno purely based off two weeks of International football then clearly football is not for them. Bruno has done more for us in 18 months than Pogba has in 5 years.

I defy anyone to watch him play for France and not want that player in their team. A year ago I wanted him gone, now I'll be a little gutted if he does leave.

What you have just said, in essence, is that he is inconsistent. Every summer, everyone says he would be amazing if he was consistent or he would be amazing if he played like he plays for France blah blah....bottom line is, for whatever reason (attitude mostly probably) he IS NOT consistent. He has had five years I would not be sorry to see him go, much rather replace him with someone who is decent and consistent.

Don't think even the biggest Pogba hater wouldn't want "THAT" Pogba but for United we don't see "THAT" Pogba enough. Would be sad to see him go because I love the bloke but if we can secure a decent enough fee and get adequate replacement in or reinforcements in other areas then think it'll be a win/win for both parties.

As long as his good outweighs his bad I would have him in my team every time, and for a while now that has been the case. I don't think we owe him anything, and I would agree with anyone that says he has been part of an underachieving team and is partly responsible for that, but I do also feel that the better our team gets the better he will get.

I don't see him signing a new deal though so the chances are he goes this summer. I just hope we get top dollar for him, whatever that is. His performances at this Euros can only have helped us in that respect.

Can’t let an asset with his value walk out for free. We’re in between a rock and a hard place at this stage. On one hand we either pay him what his agent wants and prob price anyone out from buying him from us down the line....or we end up with nothing. His performances over his time
With us don’t deserve a pay increase....on his day our best player. His day comes once every 4/5 games.

He will be off. I guess the management already know that and are looking for his replacement.

Pretty much resigned to him leaving. Shame but we move on.

Probably for the best, he's a quality player but I feel we've moved on as a team. A terrific footballer, but one we never had the right style or system to accommodate properly, and then made transfers to essentially replace him. Always felt like it was a case of Bruno or Pogba, both together just doesn't work, especially not with the wingers we have.

Sancho will more than replace his creativity in attack anyway IMO, the key is to get our midfield behind/around Bruno sorted to what system and style we want.

Offer him whatever we're going to offer him and if he doesn't take it then start trying to sell him. We can't really afford to have an unmotivated Pogba here for a year that will get to walk away for free next summer.

He's leaving for free next year and he'll get a crazy singing on fee via Raiola.

Probably best for both parties if we can get Goretzka in. Pogba will play as no10 ahead of verrati and wijnaldum at PSG. Just hope that we get a top midfielder in as a replacement.

Yes, Im sure we would all like the Pogba of the first 75 minutes, but we usually get the complacent, lazy, arrogant, careless Pogba who lost the ball and allowed the Swiss to get back into the game. After that of course he virtually disappeared leaving his team mates to try and salvage the day. Yes, we've seen that Pogba all too often. I really dont want to see either Pogba in a United shirt again.

Getting Camavinga as a replacement for Pogba would give our team much better balance, even with the lack of experience. We'd certainly be able to press well with Fred, Camavinga and Bruno.

This.

Good though he is (and he really is remarkably good at times) we're in a position where it should be relatively easy to at least replace Pogba with a player who fits the side more, even if they're not as talented. And that increased balance will compensate pretty significantly for the loss of his ability from the squad.

We won't miss him. Great player but he wasn't up for the fight of dragging us back to where we need to be, and he doesn't fit in Solskjaer's system unless we drop Bruno. Sancho would replace his creativity as others have said and we wouldn't need to shoehorn him into the team.

We'll never ever get Goretzka sadly. German player in his prime away from Bayern , no chance.

Did he disappear before or after he put one on a plate for Mbappe in extra time? I’m confused by the timeline here.

I think everyone has known, for some time, that Pogba was going either this summer or next. If there had been a serious desire on Paul's side to saying talks would have happened awhile ago.

Its probably in everyone's best interest if we sort something out with PSG in the next couple of months and let him go.

Pogba is a very good player. But the ship has sailed.

We’ll miss the player we want him to be but we won’t miss the player he has been. We’ve moved on as a team and it’s about time we have round pegs for round holes.

Okay, ship has sailed, but what other ship is docking and is it guaranteed we'll get proper replacement this summer of at least similar quality ?

We can't just let ships sail like that... unless we're bringing Aston Villa's finest ship or something in that mood.

Don't forget we lose Pogba and we risk losing the likes of Bruno whilst the club is less attractive to potential recruits coming in.

Completely different players, Grealish would be a terrible replacement for Pogba.

Well Aston Villa's finest plays in a different position than Pogba plays for us most of the time.

As for who replaces him those are questions for United's recruitment staff. However, just pretending like Pogba really wants to stay and isn't running his contract down is kinda denying reality.

If you want similar players why not keep Pogba since he got best years ahead of him and is one of the best on his position ?

Sure Grealish is different beast, but he would produce tons and score more likely more than Pogba.

Perfectly summed up if you ask me. Well done Sir.

The Pogba cultists can't differentiate between the player he should be and the player he has been for us sadly. Some are even arguing that he's our best player and better than Bruno. This is the levels of delusion we're dealing with now.

We've established he can't play in a 2 man midfield.

In a 3 man midfield alongside Bruno and 1 other we'd get awfully over ran as Pogba and Bruno are far too attack minded for it to work and both can lose the ball too cheaply as well.

So we're left with playing him on the left wing again or playing a dimaond. Easy decision for me. Sell him and move on. It's just not worked out for us.

Denying reality was present especially in time when we let Herrera go just like that. I'm not here to argue if we should sell Pogba, but to remind people our recruitment staff loves to do deals one year later. Just sayin...

Fair enough.
