Paul Pogba / turned down United offer of 300k as “nothing”

So running down his deal because he doesn't have many options shows he has a big ego? What should he do just sign whatever contract United offer him?

A lot of people acting like players running down their contract is uncommon. We've seen high profile transfers with Gini, Donnuruma and Alaba this summer and Lewandowski a number of years ago.

The fact that we have people on here who are happy for him to run down his contract and walk away for free again whilst his agent and brother continues to belittle our club is astonishing.

Remember the night before Leipzig game when Raiola ran his mouth?

Personally if it was me offering a contract I'd tell him he could only sign it on the basis he sacks his agent first. That fat greeseball deserves nothing.

Let me get this straight:

1. Godfather suggests that most players are professional enough to perform even as they run out their contract...suggesting Pogba is capable of that.
2. You then suggest that that is the problem, clearly meaning you think Pogba can't be professional enough to perform while running down his contract...
3. Hellhunter then alludes to how coaches have spoken well of his professionalism and that basically he is capable of being a professional.

I'd add even with how Jose literally gave him HELL and throw him under the bus and made him the scapegoat, he still maintained his professionalism under those conditions, just like Shaw and other players Jose gave hell.

4. And then you drop this gem of "logic" his handling of the media and the behavior of his agent show he can't be professional and perform well on the pitch...

Uhm...how do you make that mental gymnastics possible? What does that have to do with him being able to be a professional and perform to his best while his contract is on the last year...just how?

It’s all linked don’t be naïve, if he doesn’t want to be at the club and has his eyes elsewhere, do you seriously believe he will perform to his best (which isn’t that good to begin with, but that’s a different debate)? He’s wanted to leave for years, it’s bound to have a negative impact on his performances.

I’m not disputing some players can still perform in their final contract year as others have suggested, but the lack of professionalism in the areas I’ve said along with the fact he’s wanted to leave the club for the past few years, leads me to the conclusion that he’ll perform even worse next season than he has in recent years.

At least have the balls to say racism if you're gonna hint at it. I don't hate pogba but I certainly see why others do and there's absolutely no reason to think it has anything to do with race. But sure, any disdain towards how anyone acts now has to have some deep rooted meaning. He's a frustrating player that's done nothing to appease the fan base he plays for. He knows what his agent is doing (as he made him reel it in once before).

This is what people are saying that it isn't true. His stats gets posted and then some discussion happens but then the other side arrives with same line "he hasn't performed for us" and keep repeating it in every post.

Has he performed at the level he could? I don't think so but to say he hasn't done anything at United is preposterous.

Beyond me how anyone can be pro pogba. If he wants to stay sign the £300k per week contract. The world has changed due to covid. If we gave him a £500k week deal and the world goes back into lockdown - is he going to give part of it back?? Is he feck! The guys is a clown - 1 decent goal at the Euros and all of a sudden he's the best player in the world agaiin. My contempt for his off field behaviour knows no limits. And as for his agent - how come erikson has a cardiac event and that fat cnut doesnt? He's like a fatter chris moyles when he was fat if you know what I mean. Man Utd are always bigger than their players - Pogba needs to realise this.
If we give him x-amount then we will have forecasted for another lockdown and that’s our responsibility to factor in, not his.

On the bolded, that’s just rubbish, he was class for France (yet again.) He’s considered world class throughout the game, only sections of our fans here think otherwise…

He’s invariably one of our best players when fit, was the same last season. We relied on his creativity when Bruno faded. Now posters like yourself pretend he was awful last season, nonsense.

If he was playing with midfielders half as good as he does for France (and previously at Juve) you would see the best of him, we only see half of that player and he’s still invariably one of our best performers.

Who will you have to blame when he leaves and McFred are sideways passing us to sleep next season and Bruno is our sole creative outlet? Ole no doubt, or similar posters will probably turn on Bruno again.

Either way, I want this to be sorted before the season starts. We can't afford the speculation of will he/won't he sign to derail our preparations and our season. The stakes are too high for Pogba to ruin it with his and his agents b*llocks. Either sign the contract or Utd organise a transfer.

Nobody wants him.

Off the back of his “best season” he said it was time for a new challenge somewhere else
Varane has just moved to United for a "new challenge".

People aren't happy that he could walk away for free if you haven't noticed. They want him to stay and renew or be sold this season if he does not renew.

But it's his prerogative to see the best deal out there. He gave his best years to United when we were dogshite. If he thinks he could go somewhere else to win trophies then so be it and we will recover. At the same time if he can make more money, don't think of it as an issue. It's just realities of life and he is being called names for something we all do in our professional life.

Rio was called a drug addict when he wasn't renewing. So I can understand the personal abuse Pogba is getting now but that doesn't mean people should join in.

His agent makes a lot of noise and does what he does. But since he doesn't play for United I don't care. I think you should not too but it's just a suggestion

I mean personally (again only my opinion). It isn't what he's done on the field. It's about everything off of it. Since he signed his agent, his family, and other clubs have been angling for a move to a new club. Literally every single year. He's shown he's been willing to leave but at the same time won't allow the club to sell him. We've seen the exact scenario with Donnarumma play out just a few months ago and that's likely to happen here. People are expecting it so their dislike for Pogba is exacerbated. Look at varane, we just signed him but he made it clear he wanted to leave Madrid and allowed the club to get some money for him. That's all most of us want from pogba, to stop playing the contract game and say what he wants, but he won't, because he stands to make more money from now. That's his right and he can do it, but fans have every right to be frustrated with it.

On the pitch, I'm whelmed by him. He's won some games for us on his own and he can be exciting to watch. Other times he disappears. I'd call him a successful player for us overall but certainly not worth a record fee and certainly not worth dealing with constant links of him leaving.

He has not said anything about his contract. Pogba has not disrespected the club in anyway. You need to lie down.
Look, I like Pogba as a player, even as a man I do as well. His principles relating to such causes as Palestine and anti-racism are admirable beyond reproach.

However, we can't ignore that his agent has badmouthed the club on his watch. The last time of which, was on the eve of our most important Champions League tie. Likewise, his brothers have been talking ceaselessly and without abandon about theirs and his desire to leave the club and move on to Real.

That just cannot be ignored. Look at Cavani's reaction, when his dad said that he was leaving. That was respectful. Pogba's silence whenever Mino or his brothers said something was deafening.

Fair enough. His performance on the pitch hasn't been to the level you expect but in my opinion that's also because we didn't have a great team around him also. So I don't see his performance in isolation.

As far as his family ( only his brother who gets paid to say ) or his agent is concerned, as I said in other post, since they don't play for us, I don't care anymore. It's just isn't worth anyone's time

Varane has just moved to United for a "new challenge".
Varane spent ten years at the same club and won a ton of trophies. Pogba hasn't won much here, and the challenge is just beginning as we muster the squad but he wants to leave. No, it's not for a new challenge, methinks.

Be fair, Sultan.

All linked? Sounds so conspiracy like. How?

You literally suggested his handling of the media and agents behavior is the problem to why he can't be a professional on the pitch. When 2 other posters have shown evidence of how he is and can be a professional.
And now you add that he wanted to leave for a few years, cause you know how silly your primary argument.

Then the is the matter of the evidence of this "lack of professionalism" you claim he has? What exactly is this? And remember, how is it linked to his performances on the pitch...
You seriously saying his media handling and agent behavior, and him wanting to leave, are the "lack of professionalism" that's cause him not to perform? Not tactics, not positioning, not lack of form, being injured for half the season? None of those? But the media stuff and agent stuff and him wanting to leave?
So Sancho wanting to leave, lewa wanting to leave, those players can do it, but not Pogba? Because of how he handles the media and his agents behavior?
I'm seriously struggling to follow. Maybe I am naive cause I just don't see it.

Sounds more like a conspiracy theory that you've concocted about Pogba's supposed lack of professionalism than what is actually true.

I guess best thing to do is, let's check back on this post after the season and see just how professional Pogba's performances were. Since you suggest he had his eye to leave for years, then even if he renews, he's still a player that wants out, but couldn't get PSG or wherever to buy him, so then his performances will also be affected, since he clearly doesn't want to be here, and doesn't handle the media well, and his agents behavior is terrible (the one thing I definitely can agree one, his agent being a cnut)

Time will tell I suppose.

You can't sign him right now or sell him without his consent. He has all the power and if he wants to run down the contract he can do it.

Right now joining Juve, Madrid, or Barca is impossible but that may not be the case next summer.
Well obviously you have to get his consent to sell him, but you can also throw him into the reserves if he doesnt want to be sold or renew. There's many things the club can do to "punish" him, but there's no need for that I think if his plan is to run down his contract he wont have a problem with him being sold of course considering a reduced fee due to the situation.

He is contracted to United until next June and fulfilled his obligations. If he wants a new challenge good luck and goodbye. I am being fair, bro.

He wants us thinking he might sign a new deal well into next season because a) it generates bigger offers from Real/Juve/PSG that he can sign in January and b) it keeps him in Ole's good books and means he won't be phased out of the team.

Its still as up in the air as it was yesterday

I thought it was generally looking like he was going the other day.

Leaked to the media today that he loves United, his family are happy living in Cheshire and he's excited by the new signings.

It all feels like part of the negotiations.

Would not be surprised if he stays and signs.

Well, he was included in today's promotional kit video for this season. Which at least indicates he will be here for the new season.
Contrary to popular belief, I do not think he wants to feck over the club he came back to to try and bring back to glory, and gave the best of his years for. I feel like he will renew.

That, or he leaves on a free. Which is his right to, sucks but we will still be here and fighting to get back to where we should be.

If he stays then great but it feels like we're being played good and proper, all so he can walk for free next summer

He's going to face Tevez & Di Maria levels of hate if we ever play against him in the future if this is all a ploy to walk for free

The other problem is, once this saga kicks off (which is now has) that's pretty much our recruitment on hold until its sorted - same happened last summer, as our focus will now be on this

I think the likes of Lingard, Andreas and Dalot hold the cards to more signings more than Pogba. We still need another CM regardless of whether Pogba stays

All this bravado from Raiola and the Pogba camp but deep down away from reporters and cameras I bet he's gutted there's been hardly any interest in him this summer.

Bayern haven't bitten. Juve haven't. Madrid haven't. Barca haven't. Inter haven't. And it seems the PSG stories aren't as concrete as people were led to believe either. And even then their fans put out a banner saying they didn't want him.

He made a terrible decision to team up with that fat greeseball agent all those years ago. Badly advised and it's been a distraction he simply didn't need.

Free transfer or a new contract are really the only options left because nobody wants him. Nobody thinks it's worth the hassle clearly.

He's staying. I've said it from the start and said it in all his threads. He loves it at united and is probably more excited this season due to who we have signed. He loves his house in Hale and his girlfriend zulay is happy in the North West. Her recent instagram story suggests she is working with a Cheshire based interior design firm.

The only way he leave this summer is if the club want him to and someone offers a decent fee. I think ole knows if he is utilised properly he can be unplayable. The club want him to stay.

Next season could be our best for almost a decade. Let's support Paul and let's support the team. Enough of the attacks on his attitude and professionalism which gets nothing but praise by his colleagues.

Many examples of it and mostly players are professional enough to perform. See Lewandowski at Dortmund

Yeah you'd like to think players would still perform to their best.

But would they risk injury in the last season, knowing if something happened they would be out of contract and no club next summer.

And although Pogba can be a great player, would United not be better suited to giving the game time to the players who have a future with us?

Fecking hell man, Pogba is not some sort of evil conniving super hero villain that will do this to manipulate the club into going somewhere else. Jesus Christ almighty this is one of the most ridiculous thing I have ever read on here. (and I've written some dumb a*s sh*t on here)

Childlike mentality, fecking hell mate, it's just football, there's no need for these sort of mental gymnastics.

Do you really think him and Raoila sit there and go:

"Yeaaaah let's make them THINK we want to sign a new deal, when in fact we DON'T, that'll surely get us what we want!"

Bloody hell this forum is mad at times.

Yeah, I read that one earlier, but there is no mention of him signing a new deal in that tweet.

On a side note, Pogba and his wife have great taste. Cheshire is a great place to live
Not to say I buy into the tweet itself, but the implied suggestion is that they are settled, therefore, renewing is something settled people would opt for, rather than up rooting and going wherever.

I wish I knew, but I've often heard of Cheshire and Man Utd players. Seems a regular spot for our players over the years.

Thanks.

So it turns out he may have been pulling a Rooney all along. I remember despising Rooney when he pulled that stunt. Having his agent spread rumours of a possible move to City or Chelsea. It was painful viewing. Then, seemingly out of the blue, he signed a new contract and I didn't know what to think. Shortly ater that, the truth came out that he simply wanted to the club to show some ambition in the transfer market. It worked, too. He became somewhat of a hero after that.

I hope Pogba is doing the same thing. Because, seriously, feck the Glazers.

I feel your frustration:wenger:

Time will tell I suppose.

Its all linked in the sense of, if a person has decided to jump ship, their heart/head isnt going to be as committed so naturally they wont perform as well. Its the same in any walk of life, someone working a notice period is proven to be less effective than someone who isnt. This of course isnt a perfect science and some people can continue to be effective, but my assumption is that Pogba's performances would drop lower than they currently are.

In regards the question of lack of professionalism, his media handling and saying he wanted a new challenge whilst putting in average performances, along with how vocal his agent and brother are, are examples of poor professionalism in my eyes, and that to me would impact his performance, it says to me he isnt focussed on the job at hand. I'm not saying there aren't other factors at play as you suggest (position, tactics etc), but off-pitch activity has a huge impact on a players performance.

As you say, lets see what the next few months hold and hopefully you're able to throw these posts back at me following some scintillating, dominating performances, and say "i told you so", i'd happily hold my hands up and say i was wrong!

Thanks.

It does feel like a shift in the narrative today. Talking about loving the club, seeing a long term future here, being settled with the family.. definitely a leak of sorts.

It feels we are in the middle of negotiations and we know that's Raiola's speciality. I wouldn't rule out him staying. I just want clarity one way or another.
