Qualifying rounds CL

@KirkDuyt Congrats on the early goal.

Should be easy now that FC Drita can't park the bus. You really didn't have kid in the academy that runs a lot and can't cross?

Edit: Too soon  1-1
1/2 now, my God. Still think we can win this. If not, we should just sack the whole team. Embarrassing shit.

I like Toornstra. He's uncreative as feck, so he's just hoofing in balls for Linssen and Till and created your best chances by doing so. Is Kokcu even on the pitch? Maybe Toornstra should play on the left of midfield so he can go for those screamers of his.

I love Toornstra and he has had great value for us and is a great guy, but he is so far past it, it's hilarious.

I think Kokcu figured he was the star now that Berghuis is gone, at least he walks around that way. For all the whinging about Berghuis being a cnut, he was really the only quality we had.

Celtic are a bit ridiculous to be honest. After Rangers got relegated they really should've capitalised and pushed on in Europe. Their revenues outstrip the likes of PSV, Slavia Prague, Red Bull Salzburg (although they have rich owners) etc, yet whilst those teams get in the CL, they struggle to even put up a fight in the Ropey half the time.

PSV's revenue is much higher than that of Celtics

No they do not:

Celtic

PSV

https://www.statista.com/statistics/965639/psv-eindhoven-operating-revenue-segment-worldwide/

PSV is hard to pin down. However, the one year where you can do like for like 2017/18, Celtic had £101.6m revenue, whilst PSV had €62.1m.

Celtic really don't have any excuses for being so bad for so long. If they actually got CL you probably could add an additional £30-£40m per year.

Actually in 2020, PSV's revenue was 72 million Euro's and Celtic's 70 million pounds. So quite similar really. Though Celtic edges it a bit.

I'd like to add I did not thoroughly research this, so if I'm wrong, ehh.

The reason why Celtic had a much higher revenue in that season is because PSV did not even play Europa Leugue and Celtic received a lot of money from the CL

Following season PSV qualified for the CL and has €97m turnover (they say net in the article, but they say it was a €35m increase from the year before, which leads me to believe that bit it a mistake):

However, that turnover that year was also helped by stadium exploitation.

To be honest, there isn't much in it, but all things equal i.e. both in CL/EL in the same year, Celtic would normally edge them out.

Red Star Belgrade - Dinamo Zagreb is a possibility for the play offs for the Champions League...

Monaco lead Sparta Prague 1-0. Tchouaméni with the goal.

Hopefully they both make it through. Dinamo haven’t had the best start in the league, but they should have too much for Legia.

Malmö hardly threatened at all in the 1st half, now out of nowhere find themselves 2-0 up inside 5 mins of the 2nd half against Rangers.

PSV is going to win the Eredivisie this year, Madueke was actually their Sancho-buy. What a fantastic player.

European football starts too early for Scottish teams...Malmo are 13 games into their season whereas the Scottish teams are 1 game in

Tchouaméni taunting Sparta's racist ultras and making sure that Michael Oliver takes notice that they are being racists. What a legend! Monaco win 2-0.

Of course Rangers' goal is literally the last kick of the game with their only shot on target and a huge deflection.

Your goalkeepers and fullbacks are much better though and you have a fantastic bench, while Gotze and Van Ginkel are injury prone.

Onana is leaving though isn't he? Neither Stekelenburg or Pasveer are that good if you ask me.

I’ve heard this argument before when Scotland’s co-efficient was dropping rapidly down the rankings. There was talk at the time about summer football etc. Personally I’m not really for it. Didn’t Aberdeen knock out a team from Sweden that play in the same league as Malmö in the Europa Conference League recently?

Personally I think Rangers will still make it through with that away goal they got at the end there.

Pröpper is better than van Ginkel so I won't worry about that. Götze of course will be a big problem if he's injured. I think there will be some additions to the squad too. I agree about the fullbacks. Goalkeeper definitely isn't much better. Stekelenburg isn't good at all. Was awful at the EC.

Think that goal was vital for Rangers. See them beating them next week, although it may require extra time or penalties.

I thought Pasveer was the best GK in the league last season.

Propper hasn't played football since November. I rate him, but he's not suddenly gonna be at 100% when he has to replace Van Ginkel.

Stekelenburg was poor at the euros, but I didn't hear anyone say Drommel needs to be no 1 for the NT. Ajax also have Pasveer, who declined an offer from PSV before they went for Drommel.

Pasveer would have been 2nd keeper though. Like he was before at PSV rightfully behind Zoet.

So PSV made an offer to get a backup goalkeeper, behind loan player Mvogo and when he declined and signed for Ajax, they went for a first choice goalkeeper instead?

Doesn't make any sense, especially when you consider Pasveer was much better last season than Drommel.

No way PSV would want Pasveer as first keeper. That doesn’t make any sense at all. Drommel is much younger so they see him af the future. Drommel was brilliant first halve of the season.

Was he? I just know him for making bizarre mistakes from time to time and having dumb hair.

Neither hold a candle to Bijlow anyway. Even if Justin is injured most of the time :wenger:

Looks like Celtic might be back in as Mjityland fielded a suspended player in the second leg, if true thats the third time this has happened involving Celtic

Fecking Midgetland

That feel when your so shit at spelling something, google gives you no results without a "do you mean?" suggestion :(

Anyway, apparently their new signing Juninho had an 8 match ban in Brazil and FIFA ruled the ban was still valid after the 2nd Celtic in which he had played.

I don't think FIFA will retroactively declare Celtic the winner. If they had to make a ruling, clearly it's not standard for players to take their national FA bans with them overseas. I've never heard of a player being left out pre-emptively awaiting such a ruling.

Rangers - Malmö 1-2
Malmö scored two goals in second half despite got a red in the first half.
2-4 overall for Malmö

Rangers conceded two terrible goals. Out of nowhere really.
