Because you need to highlight the new manager bounce that almost always occurs. Even if you don't Tuchel's overall record of 2 points per game isn't that great, it puts them level with us in a distant second. Even if Lukaku was R9 reincarnated they wouldn't catch City.

I don't see why everybody is talking as though Chelsea are the biggest challenge to City and might even beat them. If they hadn't won a, lets face it, fairly lucky Champions League i don't think anybody would be.
How on earth was it lucky?

You didn't know it mate. It's new manager bounce.. Klopp pep also still not get over from their new manager bounce too. So why they won so many trophies ever since they appointed new manager bounce and honeymoon period not over yet.

They are lucky too because they sustained the new manager bounce for such a long time.:wenger:

He is not the source. The long study is the source. I think for maybe 4-6 games you could argue a bounce. After that, no. Ffs, there are people on this forum that think Chelsea are on a bounce…now…in a different season.

That's good because i was suggesting the bounce was for 5 games.

I'm genuinely curious as to why you think the CL run was "lucky".

You had a pretty easy run and finished a distant fourth in the league. Its a cup competition so that's how it goes, but I'm sure you can acknowledge you were far from the best team in Europe last year.

Far? We are the Champions of Europe. We also beat who many would say were the best team in Europe 3 fecking times!! You are in denial.

Another wum. Imagine saying we were lucky to win the champions league considering we deservedly won every tie. You can argue all you want about how hard a CL route we had but most winners of the CL don't knock out all the best teams to win the competition. And we knocked out the 'best team' in the final. Were Bayern lucky in 2020? They only had to face a shit Chelsea, a really shit Barcelona and then Lyon in the semifinal, and they got outplayed by PSG in the final.

You sound extremely bitter. If we had that run you would proclaim us as the best team of the past 20 years.

I never said we are but there's a difference between that and it being lucky, we totally dominated every opponent in our path and equalled the clean sheet record.

As for the run....

We got by the far the worst draw possibly out of teams that won the group in the R016, a team that dumped out the runaway leaders 12 month prior.

Porto wasn't the worst quarter draw granted, but it weren't our fault Juve bottled their tie vs them.

Real may not be a vintage side but have major winning pedigree in this competition and it often becomes a significant factor in this competition. People still gave us no chance when we played them, some for that very reason.

Hmmmm perhaps pulling a hypnotoad on opponents.

hahaha... Whatever they want to call it, the won so props to them, good start to the season. I can't say anything negative about them as much as I would love to, b/c well they won the game... Going to be a long season for sure for all of us!

The CL title doesn't go to the "best team in Europe". Hell i don't even know what this mean. In the past decade Real Madrid won more CL cups than they did championships. Its just different competitions, different challenges and tactics. Some players react differently, and some coaches as well (Pep for exemple, who's been terrible during the CL since he's at City).

When a team dominates its opponent like Chelsea did with Real Madrid and City last season, it's not a lucky win.

Maybe lucky was the wrong word. Fortunate perhaps.

I think that of most teams that win the CL whilst being miles behind in their domestic league.

No one cares if you win the CL being the best or not, big teams play to win it, not to look for online recognition as "fans's best team" im case they lose.

City has been massively overrated by PL fans since Pep arrived in England, and they are nowhere near to be best team in Europe.

Getting knocked out by Tottenham,Monaco, and Lyon screams everything except best team.

Abraham walking off the pitch with suitcase packed, seems he is off

The way your lot changes managers — you’re probably on some sort of perma-bounce.

If Tuchel keeps giving chances to youth players, he might just be the most perfect manager we've had in my life time.

The thread's title looks shit. I can't believe we allow Chelsea fans to create this.

Moses £4.5m
Giroud £1.5m
Tomori £26m
Guehi £18m
Bate £1.5m
Simeu £1.5m
Livramento £5m
Abraham £34m + add ons
Ugbo £5m (TBC)
Batshuayi £10m (TBC)

Total £107m+ and counting

Bakayoko, Zappacosta, Barkley, Drinkwater and Emerson/Alonso to go

We need an outstanding DM to share time with Kante.

But the club wants Declan Rice and we cant get him until next summer, so i doubt we will be buying another DM in this window it doesn't make any sense.

Would much rather just get Tchouameni now for 40% of what we'd have to pay for Rice next year.
