Such positive energy in here. I wonder how people are going to transition to being happy when we do win.
I wonder when people with red-tinted glasses who predict a win for United every game, will see the truth: there has been little progression in the past 18 months and Ole just doesn't have the experience required

    Villarreal form guide: D,D,D,D,D,W,D

    4 of those D's are 0-0

    Exciting team to watch.

Think we'll win. Ole tends to pull wins out of the bag whenever the pressure is on him and Villarael can't score goals for shit. I'll go 2-1.

I'm looking forward to it. The pressure to win tonight is definitely needed and the players need to thrive off it instead of crumble.

We should be smacking Villarreal about with our squad at OT. No excuses now, we need this in the bag

A team who doesn't score vs a team who has kept 1 clean sheet in their 8 games this season.

Unstoppable force meets an immovable object.

Sucks that Maguire is out. His biggest positive for me was that he was always fit and available. We still have enough to win this match. This is usually the sort of match where we end up producing a commanding win and the mood upswings again, before taking a few steps back in a couple weeks again. If it doesn't follow this pattern I'll be very surprised

Pressure was on against Leipzig away
Pressure was on in the final.

Ole only tends to pull out wins when his job is under threat. At the moment his job is safe.

Villarreal qualify for immovable object, United don't qualify for unstoppable force. We've lost the last 3 games and not scored in two of those. Spent force more like

i think we'll win but past results don't warrant any "Unstoppable force" phrase to be brought up.

If anything a leaky defence with misfiring attacks vs an immovable object points to a 1-0 win for Villarreal or 0-0

If we lose this, and our qualification to the next round is thrown into doubt, things could seriously ramp up on Ole.

You can't be given Varane, Sancho and fecking Ronaldo and not get out of a group that resembles a Europa League group more than it does UCL one.

I'm expecting a similar game to the Villa one.

    It was sarcasm my guy

Not optimistic at all, can see Emery and Villarreal defending good enough (like in EL final) and them scoring at least one goal as we never keep clean sheet anyways. If we don't win tonight our chances to go through become slimmer.

You serious? 1 point after two games would be a disaster and put us under immense pressure for the rest of the group stage.

    Must win game.

Maguire and Wan Bissaka out, of course I will be happy with a draw and it’s the best we will get, we will be nervous, let’s be realistic.

Happy with a draw? The only way we qualify is if we win our home games.

We are not winning away at Atalanta or Villareal, we need 3 points as a minimum this game.

This is really pathetic stuff hoping and praying we can beat Villarreal, Atalanta and Young Boys, not to win the bloody competition but just to qualify out of the group stages. It really is a sad indictment of our lowly expectations at Manchester United under Ole. If we can't get a result tonight, he should be under immense pressure. Of course, he won't though.

    Are you hoping and praying?

I'm expecting us to win. We can't keep drawing against this lot. Ronaldo up top instead of Martial should mean we score a few.

I well aware of what we need but given the circumstances the best we will get is a draw.

Really should play varane and bailly for this. Get the feeling they could be a good partnership. We all know Lindelof will start like but nice to imagine

Anything less than a win here will be a disaster tbh. Can't see many goals. Probably 1-0 or 2-0 to us, though I am very concerned with how poor our defence has been this season regardless of who's played in the defence.

I think we will at long last break our cycle of draws with these and win 2-1.
Let’s face it if we don’t win our CL campaign is on the skids.

Man I hope this isn't the mentality of Ole and the players. Missing a couple of starters - can't possibly hope to win a home game against a midtable La Liga club, when we need it :wenger:

I am not saying I expect a certain win, but to say we should actually be happy with a draw, when we lost arguably the second easiest game of the group is just plain wrong. Complete loser mentality before the game has even started.

Sancho must start. No two ways about it, even at the expense of Pogba if we are too afraid to start Pogba in midfield.

I don't think we need to worry whether the team have the same mentality as some lad on the caf.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Villarreal win tonight 2 of the back 4 out and team not firing could be another shocking defeat..

If he doesn’t start Sancho here then he’s well on the same road as Beeky. It’s ridiculous to give a player from a new league a couple of starts then just drop him when he isn’t lighting it up. He needs a solid run in the team go get going.

    I fancy us 2-0 / 2-1.

'If he loses this he better get some stick'.

As 90% of this thread hammers him for something that hasn't happened yet anyway.
