Because naive people thinks Raiola and his brother aren't speaking on his behalf and all Pogba needs to do is just say how much he respects the club and fans and they'll lap it all up.

He's basically doing this on repeat from his second year here onwards.
 
Couldn't care less if he leaves, 5 years and he still has no consistency to his game. 8/10 one day then drops 1/10 next game.

Hope we don't saddle ourselves with a huge contract like we did with Rooney and Sanchez. Get rid if he doesn't want to stay.

I have, and it's pretty rank. But, Pogba doesn't fit in there anyway. His best work here has come when he was deployed as a 10, but we have Bruno in that role. We can deploy him on wing, but we have 3 top talent on wing in Sancho, Rashford and Greenwood.
 
It isn’t surprising to hear stories like these emerge a few hours after Juventus announced record-shattering pandemic losses amounting €210 million euros in the past season. Their finances are crippled, on-field performances have dipped, and surely would not be willing to meet (the inconsistent) Pogba’s wage demands. Real Madrid aren’t taking him. Barcelona cannot. Bayern aren’t bothered. PSG are not even in the picture. Who then? Possibly no one.

Pogba and his agent’s best bet to earning good money would be to rip off United by signing a fat, long-term extension.
 
I'm not too fussed on this one, either he stays or leaves and we'll know which in a couple of months. Just relax guys.

I genuinely believe that if he takes the decision out of the clubs hands and leaves, we might be better off. He still feels like a square peg in a round hole here. Obviously his output this season, so far, is good, but he is not a left winger and given that is the 1 area where we have actually been consistently strong in recent years (partially due to him drifting there and creating overloads with Shaw / Rashford etc), I feel it is foolhardy to accomodate him there long term.

So if he left and the club were forced to replace him, perhaps a midfielder that fits the 2 in Ole's 4231 and we can let players play in their atural positions. Plus, bonus points for the exit of the Raiola circus.... although I do hope we sign Haaland!

For me it is a no-brainer - top quality CDM over Pogba any day.

Pogba doesn't fit us very well, if he is played as a CM he needs a solid CDM anyway, because Bruno will always start as well. Pogba - Bruno as 8 and 10 (or whatever you want to call it) requires a real CDM - not Fred, not McTominay and not Donny. Matic is the only one and he is pretty much done. Playing him on the left takes out Rashford.

His agent is an arse, the less business we do with him the better (sorry Haaland).

He is a fan divider, personally I believe the time of him talking sweet in front of the fans while his agent craps on the club every few months (weeks?) has to be over.

What I expect is for him to run the contract down and move on in the summer with the arse taking his cut.

Me too, Pogba has shown time and time again he doesnt want to play for us; every now and then, when it suits his agenda, he has a few good games, some very good, but then follows these with poor, lack lustre displays. Nobody expects him to be brilliant every second of every match, but I certainly expect him to at least turn up for matches. I had hoped after his excellent start to the season he was going to roll up his sleeves and finally be the player we bought and that everybody knows he can be, but now hes started the games again with his agent dropping hints like confetti about how unhappy he is, and Pogba says nothing. He's toxic and should should be shipped out.

At this stage I would bite the hand off anyone offering £20m given the wage demands.

Let's assume the alternative is £450k wages compromise. That is £23.4m per year plus god knows what additional bonuses.

I can't see a deal being agreed for less than 4 years so that's something like £93.6m or £104m at £500k whether made up directly or bonuses.

Plus the loss of £20m income, so simple maths call it £120m cost of keeping Pogba.

Alternative, £20m income, £50m cost of decent midfielder, so net £30m, salary a more sensible £180k, round it up to £40m for 4 years, so maybe £70m over 4 years plus potentially sell on value and chance for more years of a quality player.

The maths simply don't stack up. Even with letting him go for free I would argue the £70m new player deal vs £100m to keep Pogba would make better use of money. You might get less 9/10 performances, but you'll likely get significantly more 7+/10 and frankly a DM would do more for us than Pogba in any position!

The real stupid move was not selling Pogba pre covid when we might have got £100m after his one stat padding year and even in that year he was phenomenal for about 25% of the games and fairly anonymous the other 75%.
 
He can feck off. I really want him to sign a new deal but not at 500k. Take that 20m and just run as fast as we can.
 
His age and increasing frequency of injury should be a factor too.

At this stage it's surely in our interest to admit it didn't go exactly to plan, and let him go.

Paul Pogba does not carry enough output to warrant a contract like that. Not even the France Pogba is worth that kind of investment.

His injury record alone makes a very ease case to avoid this at all cost. He's lost over 80 games with injury during his time here and is out with a NEW injury right now that potentially sees him sidelined over new years.

Unless the medical staff knows someting not apparent to the public, this is a no.

He's a social media and marketing juggernaut, that gets the Glazers and Woodward drooling more than assists and goals.

Honestly even if you don't take this into account (and we should) it just feels like it is time for him to move on for both his sake and ours. He's wasted years here and there's absolutely no way with how he plays for us (or how we use him) that he is worth anything near the salary he wants. I could understand if we used him well but we never really have, would be dumb to invest more money into this.

Yeah, I think Pogba is slowly going to whittle away in his late 20s/early 30s with constant niggling injuries in a similar way that seems to be happening with KDB

Nobody is going to be willing to pay him 500k a week + a signing on fee for the shit he produces on the pitch.

PSG - is the only possible destination. But probably only have the wages freed up if Mbappe leaves
The Spanish clubs are totally skint.
Juve would have to offload at least Ramsey and on his wages they'd still be paying him off elsewhere.
Bayern wouldn't even bother entertaining him with an offer for half of that.
 
For 90M pounds I expected more.

We'd be better off with Rice, Garner and Bruno. If we want to splash the cash a bit more; Rice, Tielemans and Bruno.

Even with Rice, Pogba's inconsistency doesn't fill you with much hope.

Surely Juventus is most logical option?

Unless they have no money whatsoever that's what they do isn't it, hoover up players on free transfers and their central midfield is pretty young now so could do with experienced head and he had best spell of his career there.

I think that would actually be the only scenario in which I'd not be too concerned with keeping him. Zidane obviously commands his respect, was an infinitely better player, and won't take his current bottom level at all. So he'd either have to earn his money or be sold, and likely played in a coherent tactical setup.
 
A French YouTuber called TheKairi78 claims to have seen Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and Paul Pogba in the same hotel this week.

It’s a matter of time IMO. This transfer has been disappointing on so many levels. First to lose a talented youngster on a free, then to overpay to get him back, only for us to be subjected to performances littered with inconsistency, before potentially losing him on a free again.

It’s clear at this stage that both parties are better off without each other. Paul is very much a “cherry on the cake” player who will do well in a top team, United are not there right now and we’d be more effective with a consistent player who does the basics well. I’d love Tielemans.

This club is a proper mess. We first let Pogba go on free, then overspent to get him back and then we risk losing him on free. Meanwhile our tactics are a proper mess. Instead of either sacking the manager or force double training sessions on our players to have that sorted we allow Ole to feck off to Norway for a long term holiday.
 
I'm not blaming the Club on Pogba.

The fact the cnut left once on a free and is going on a free again when the club spent near 90 million on him says all that needs to be said about Paul Pogba.

Go to Juventus on a free again.

Him going will lead to the Glazers and the manager knowing that he has to be replaced which is a positive aswell.

Just has been a waste of money, not just for his disssapointment as a player - but literally a waste of money who is going and leaving our club twice on a free.

Purely thinks about wages and fame. If he wanted to leave so bad for a trophy he could have forced and left the club earlier and got the club some money for him feeling unhappy here. Nope. He wants a free transfer so all the clubs are fighting each other to give him the highest wage possible.

My personal bet is PSG due to their history of free transfers. Then Juve due to his history in Italy.

All these people crying everytime we target an English Football player for being overrated whilst players like Herrera and Pogba hardly make us grow as a club whilst here and then decides to leave us when we are down.
