Yes.

What are the chances of contracting Omicron for a Pfizer triple-jabbed individual? Is there any data on that?
I dont think it protects you from contracting it. It just reduces the symptoms.
1 in 4 25%

then in 7-8 weeks onwards falls back down to 66% 2 out of 3 if the active antibodies fall down like the previous jabs. Not sure if they know the answer To that one yet

Nobody knows.

The only real life data they have on vaccine efficacy vs omicron comes from South Africa where nobody is boosted.

These data showed a double jabbed person is 33% less likely to get infected and 70% less likely to end up in hospital compared to someone who isn’t vaccinated (equivalent figures are 80% and 93% for delta)

You would expect a booster dose to increase those %’s quite significantly.

Copied and pasted it and I don't see my GPS name on there but he did tell me its a political and economic problem not a health problem??"

May I ask where you got this list from?

Ok sure, I can understand that people have concernes over the unknown. Please let me try to appease your concerns.

We're primarily using the pfizer/moderna vaccines now which contain mRNA technology.

Messenger RNA was discovered in the 1960s, researched with cell delivery in the 1970s and underwent research to develop into a flu vaccination in the 1990s. a vaccine using mRNA technology was approved for human clinical trials in 2013 for a rabies vaccine.

Thanks for the informative post. Nice to see someone who engages people who disagree with a measured approach! You seem to have quite a lot of knowledge about the subject - do you predict biannual booster jabs, and, if so, for how long? Or will this be like the flu jab that needs to be taken annually? If so, presumably everyone above 5 (or perhaps even lower the way things are going?) will need to have an annual jab?

Something can be clear but not logical or well organised. And therefore incoherent. I don't understand what you don't understand. But I don't think anyone else is interesting in this discussion continuing. DM me if you must.

sucks. How do you feel? Haven’t had my booster yet because I tested positive before being able to book it but aye, been feeling rough the past few days. Banging headache, lack of energy, body ache, a tickly cough and tight chest (feels like my ribs are being crushed). Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks!

tbh similar symptoms - banging headache, body ache, awful fever. Though curiously nothing of note in the coughing/chest area. My sense of smell and taste seems for the most part intact so far too.

Hope you and your wife recover well soon.

It was reported by our own "experts" at 75% of stopping symptomatic illness just the other day for the booster.

For anyone interested (I.e no one) I had my booster yesterday, Pfizer (same as my original two).

No real symptoms again thankfully. But I feel like my arm is much more sore / aching a lot more than the last two times (ached then too, but less).

I’m thinking it’s because the guy it in a lot higher - same muscle but feel like closer to the shoulder than before. Is that a potential reason or just is what it is?

I got my first shot really close to the shoulder. Didn't feel anything. To the point that i was questioning if i got the vaccine at all.

I am booked for the booster next week. Will be part of the 3x Pfizer gang soon as well :D

It really is. Don't use words if you don't know what they mean could be a potential solution for you.

Had my Moderna booster yesterday and have woken up with a dull but uncomfortable pain in the left hand side of my chest, just under my left nipple. Gets worse when I breath in. Could have just slept funny I guess but my minds racing.

Feeling any better?

This was what I was getting at about omicron blowing up testing capacity in next few weeks.
For sure. I think we'll see PCR testing falling to a crawl - turnround from test request to result could easily hit 5 days even if we ration the lab capacity in some way. Chances are the results will take longer than the incubation time.

I think we'll hear more about acting on LFT result only for some cases.

The health services in the UK and Europe won't be able to cope with this?

Looking at London it looks like it's confirmed that cases have doubled in the past week. Chances are that rise will be omicron. In fact by now London cases may be 80% omicron.

It's rampant here, I have it, G.F has it - about 15 others we both know between us have it. Never known anything like it all pandemic.

Weren't cases always going to ramp up at this exact date and for the next 7 days? Everyone doing tests even without symptoms or close contacts on the off chance they are positive. Get the run up to Christmas off work and enough time to wrap pressies and be free for Christmas day?

Or am I just a grumpy old fart and people wouldn't actually do that?

The strangest post. Even if it were true in what way would that be a bad thing? The more positive cases you catch the better for everyone else.

I like how this always devolves into some shit political bollocks for absolutely no reason.

You've gotta take the next 2 weeks stats with a pinch of salt. It's literally the worst time for data collecting for a new variant. Or the best time maybe.

Asymptomatic people don't normally test, now you'll have a percentage who are.

You're either getting more positives than usual, or you're seeing a better real number due to asymptomatic testing.

The strangest post. Even if it were true in what way would that be a bad thing? The more positive cases you catch the better for everyone else.

You posted this before my next post but I posted again, it's not a bad thing. It can be seen as a good thing, but the reporting will just show "this many cases, it's a spreading faster than we thought" and those will be the headlines.

But because I have a different view point, the super intelligent posters who think they own the thread will be out to attack me and call me a Tory or an anti vaxxer because ... You know, internet points.

Isn’t the doubling time just quite short now like 2/3 days.
I believe that statistic was from SA, which has a very different demographic and vaccine status etc etc. But I could be wrong. I mean if it genuinely is doubling here every 2/4 days then unless severity is significantly reduced, hospitals will surely be overrun in days or matter of a few weeks?

That’s what people on Reddit are saying in some threads I’ve just been reading.

If that’s the case, and applies to modelling for the UK, if we don’t yet categorically know it’s much less severe, then … well not to be a pessimist but aren’t we fecked? Someone please tell me why I’m wrong

Jabs and boosters should keep our hospital numbers down I think? That's why there's a a huge booster push.
