Joe Rogan

Whole thread is quite disgusting…

A video has surfaced of Rogan using the N word over 20 times and comparing black neighbourhoods to the planet of the apes and other such shit.
This cancel culture war seems to be as me v you as the vaccines have become. He really does need some kind of criticism over that and an apology video was warranted but feck me the people saying don’t do it, don’t give in to the mob are not living in the real world.
That very much sounds like something he should be sacked for. That’s not a lapse of judgement, that’s being downright abhorrent.

Stewart with thte daily show was pretty much the liberal Rogan during the Bush era.

Nah, he used an openly extreme perspective and bias as comedy. The main aim was to get laughs, not to inform. His comedy was informed by his politics to paraphrase the man himself. Nothing similar to someone trying to get to the 'truth' through a staged dialectic. He has explained this at length. He was literally the host of a Fake News show. It was factually correct but his own admission was driven by a huge bias. And he attacked Clinton as well.

And in case anyone hasn't listened to the first clip, he's not saying "we walked in to Planet of the Apes" as in "we walked in to see Planet of the Apes". He stresses in. There's no ambiguity here, he's calling black people apes.
Absolutely. He was discussing the patrons of the theater, not the film being projected.

Yep, and his mostly male white audience is ok with that, because he's humble and who takes a podcast seriously and freedom of speech etc.

After all, they are able to conduct their own research. Which coincidently leads them to the exact same conclusions as Rogan.

Whole thread is quite disgusting…
Joe Rogan defending someone who got fired for tweeting, “Going to Africa. Hope I don't get AIDS. Just kidding. I'm white!:” “It’s a good joke.” “It’s not real racism. It’s a joke.”
Joe Rogan defending a guy who taught a dog to do the Nazi salute: “It is very cute that he taught the dog to do that.” “No Jews got gassed during the making of that video.”

How is he not getting destroyed for these....

Hopefully, we won't get to see much more of him on UFC broadcasts.

Rogan show is dumber but thats due to the fact Joe is a conservative but the role both shows played are the same. While Stuart has explained it a length, his answers have always been rubbish. Yes he has said his comedy was informed by his politics but he has also said what separates him is that he isn’t a ideologue and that it’s always comedy before politics. So it's just a big mess that doesn’t make any sense and when it was pointed out to him, he always fell back on look dude I’m just a comedian on a tv network which shows cartons.

Here's Stewart non ideologue comedy first coverage

And then The Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear billed as a comedy rally but you only had to look at who turn up to.

Also Stewart was literally doing bits about Wuhan lab leaks last year on mainstream tv.

Anyone has any theory of why 70 episodes were removed? It is so difficult to find any common pattern. It is mixture of comedians, leftists, anarchists and almost non right-wingers.

It feels like a "probe" before they start removing more recent and controversial episodes.

The fact you are comparing the two shows is nuts. It's an openly biased comedy show.

Which is the crux, open bias is fine and often necessary for some discussion, it's the pretence of even handedness that is the difference if the comedy is not enough for you.

edit - Right Wing political theory is really interesting, try reading William Buckley, a proper genius, and not ever pretending to be an everyman to hide actual rabble rousing. He states his opinion and argues it.

Also what do you make of the racist comments above?

No doubt. Would much rather have Bisping than Rogan. Rogan overreacts to everything. Every submission attempt is "it's tight, he's going to tap!!!" when it's not even close to tight or tapping.

Yeah Bisping is criminally underrated as an announcer. Him DC and Anik would be great. I suspect he doesn't get more love because he has a funny quasi English accent.

I would have assumed they're likely episodes that contained the racist language that it is being highlighted on twitter at the moment and other such slurs.

It's not the first time JRE episodes have been removed.

Again Stewart is open about the fact he is a liberal but then he will say yeah but before anything else I'm a comedian and comedy comes first. His second point completely undermines the first(I've had to watch a very boring late 2000's era fox new interview with him to find this shite).

He does punchlines dude, with big comedy grins. And most importantly, admits his bias. You are wilfully ignoring all the salient points.

One time I guess.

For Stewart to say I've got a ideology that informs my comedy but then say to I'm not a ideologue and that it’s always comedy before politics, not only undermines his first point but is one of the ideological things someone can say(Sniff sniff and so on).

I'm not sure there is any point in carry on with this discussion after this tbh.

@Sweet Square Even if so I just find it odd that you see that as the same as completely ignoring the idea, you hold an ideology and pretend to be some font of truth and free speech while peddling racism and medical falsehoods.

Same shit different smell.

It's all just media consumerism in the end. Imo these show aren't having anywhere near the impact some people say they are. Imo there is a massive trend on blaming the media for the current shit state of the world which I think is a easy get out.

He has always been a shitbag, I still don't know why people listened to him.

Because of the guests obviously. No one actually cares what Rogan himself says unless they're looking for fodder to rage post about on social media or in threads like this.

Exactly.

Valid criticism = rage post.

The criticism is this thread is perfectly valid and you're a smart guy, you know it.

Its a 53 page thread, so some of it may be valid and some not so much. It all depends on the specific content and the politics of the person observing it.

This reminds me of Maher using the word on one of his shows in what he thought was a comedic context, only to have to invite the likes of Ice Cube and Symone Sanders on his show the next week to apologize and seek their forgiveness. No action was taken by HBO.
