interested to see how the midfield holds up. chances of scoring on a corner in this one must be in the negatives, just wondering how many corners we create and if we just start taking them short at some point.

Good lineup, glad to see Sancho and Varane are ok. Lindelof being back is good news as well.

I thought the priority from the club was to try to get Ronaldo back in goal-scoring form before the massively important Athletico Madrid games. I was wrong..

if Cavani does well and scores a goal you can't drop Cavani on Saturday that'll be harsh on Cavani. It's harsh on Ronaldo tonight who put himself forward to play on Friday (when he probably wouldn't have if Cavani didn't get extra days off) when Cavani couldn't be bothered to play in the FA Cup against a Championship side..

We’ll have a great first 15-20 minutes and everyone will talk about how much better we are without Ronaldo, then we’ll play like ass and concede.

    1-1 draw.

is Ronaldo finished now? If Cavani does well we could be seeing Ronaldo benched on Saturday too.

    No.

You forgot how awful Cavani was the last time he started a game for us.

Ronaldo may have just turned 37 & for virtually all players who have been fairly poor for a few games at aged 37 that would be it but Ronaldo is still a great player despite his recent poor form, I'm sure Ronaldo will be back to his best soon.

So, we are playing a team that are bottom of the PL with just 1 win to their name all season, we must win this, right? Mind you, I said that for the Boro game & we know what happened there.

30 shots at goal away sounds pretty fecking great to me. No chance lightning strikes twice with shit finishing.

I think we are finally seeing that Rangnick and Ronaldo are not really compatible in the way Rangnick wants to play. They don't match tactics wise to suit each other. Rangnick won't play to Ronaldo's strengths.

Rangnick prefers Cavani anyway with the way he wants to play

Rangnicks tactics don't suit Ronaldo. That's why Ronaldo doesn't score goals for Rangnick like he did for Ole and Carrick.

So if Rangnick is the manager next season bye bye Ronaldo I'd say. Which some people on this forum might be happy with anyway.

Teams really don't fear us anymore. Dyche calling us a "fair team" kind of hurt.

Hopefully Ragnik will actually play Pogba, Rashford and Sancho on their strongest sides. We created enough against Boro but, still think we'd better off with them switched.
I am afraid, Sancho is best on the left…

Will take a sketchy win. Winning is so important at this stage. Plus it helps push Burnley closer to bottom. Can’t wait to see them relegated

We’re in Feb and I make it one good start that Cavani has had until this point. Let’s hope that changes tonight!

    I thought Lingard might've started

Rashford starting is Ole and favourites FC culture again.

We desperately need a new striker. Cavani and Ronaldo look very slow despite their football intelligence

Cavani can’t start back to back or play many effective minutes in quick succession. To get the most out of Cavani, he has to be carefully managed.

Cheers and no I’m not that old, turning 44 soon. My strong memories start from the 1985 FA cup final, my dad supported so I just followed suit although my older brother chose Everton!

Yeah being a kid, so many other distractions but I was football mad and even more so through my partying days. It’s not even the fact we are not winning titles that gets me down now, it is just the whole state of the club from the ownership downwards. We have become a meme and a continuous pun to the football world and so many (simple to us fans) changes can be made to change this but they won’t happen due to the fact we are a successful business and sports brand not a team.

As long as we make money and have money people in charge, the off field footballing ineptitude will continue to spill on to the pitch and we will continue to be as we are, a decent team nowhere near winning titles or CLs.

I just pray for a new ownership and outlook as if not then it’s very conceivable that we could go another 26 years without title (as from 2013). Unfortunately my own frustration and anger gets the best of me so my constant negativity towards the club and football can’t be good for my health.

Ah well maybe we’ll have a resounding victory tonight and it will be the start of something positive.
I hear ya, that’s kinda where I’m at too, it’s like watching the worlds slowest car crash and being unable to do anything about it.

He was very good in that one game he started without Ronaldo, he was not so good when both of them played together. Hope he plays good again tonight.

Most people on this forum got their wish with Ronaldo benched. He's an awful impact substitute so probably best not to use him at all.

No Ronaldo, who is single-handedly responsible for us being in the Champions League still, and is our highest scorer by far, is not finished.

He is a 37 year old who played 120mins 3 days ago. Christ.

Wasn't expecting Cavani to start, hopefully he has a good game as we might not see him for another 5, and I was hoping Matic might start over McTominay.

3 own goals and 3 shit back passes to their 12' striker....

    12' striker? Oh sailor.

Pissing rain, shite conditions, worse football. This is the ideal venue for big Harry to thrive. Any less than one hat-trick and he is underperforming and should be sold.

    Dyche a fair team.

Can't stand him be the usual tactics from him tonight try and kick us off the pitch and try a sneak a goal from a set piece.

Hope we win comfortably and these thugs are relegated.
