Mikel Arteta | Lego Pep watch

Arsenal will finish 8th.

Thing is we're shit and have sacked our manager and Arsenal are suppose to be having an improved season and yet we're level on point.
Arteta is stealing a living and is a worst manager than Ole and Lampard.

Fa Cup win give him that cover to hide from all of his faults. Arsenal fans will no longer tolerate his excuses. Yes he had some injury issues in his squad but that will not make an excuse for losing three matches in a row especially top 4 is on the line.

He'll need a ton of luck to finish in top 4
Jesus, that's a tough set of fixtures

Edu & him gambled in January cutting the squad & getting no-one in, thinking they had enough with no European football to get through to the end of the season, and that has clearly backfired.

2 or 3 injuries & the team suffers greatly. That's not an excuse, it's a damning verdict of where we are right now.

We need a striker, midfielder and defender now and that’s exactly who he’s fallen out with and exiled in Auba, Guendouzi and Saliba. Top class management that especially given how we’ve scored 2 in the last 5 games while we’re still partially paying the wages of a man who’s gone on to score 8 in 9 for Real Madrid.

You can also say that Auba wasn’t doing it for us but the fact that he’s doing it in spades at Real Madrid might suggest that to be a massive management failure. Apart from a handful of good games Arteta has served up sh1t again this season. Still no idea where we are going with him.

Edit :Barca not Madrid.

You mean Barca and auba right?

What I find really weird that even so called experts or knowledgeable people when talking about United‘s failures were talking Arsenal up „Look how Arsenal are on the right track and are doing things the right way“. What exactly? Winning a few games without any European games? The guy who gave one interview about ETH - Iirc Basti‘s brother - was also praising them only a few weeks ago.

Supporting arsenal must be akin to mental or psychological training for torture training for captured soldiers.
They break you by giving you hope then taking it away then repeating that same process over and over again. Eventually you break.

If any fan ignoring the fact about no European games have no clue about football and physical energy requirements to play the game. Its tough for teams play weekly twice than once.

But also United were run badly and not having that ruthless attitude from upper management. Looks like most of your problems started by Woody. He should have been sacked when he failed to back Jose but then spent nearly more than 350 million for ogs.
Potter or Hassenhuttl would be brilliant.
Yes they were brilliant but again they were having that same luxury as arteta of no mid week games or rarely went good run in cup games but Viera in his first season doing a very good job and having deep fa Cup run as well.

He could be sacked by then.
He won’t be.
Expectations are low at Arsenal, their board is ok with top 6. They wont sack him even if he ends up in 8th again.

But honestly he’s way overrated and media is hyping him for doing the bare minimum.

Last summer we were having some discussions here about Arsenal having 'the 3rd best defense in the league' under Arteta (page 120).

After 31 games this season, and having spent big on a center back and goalkeeper, they have conceded 37 goals. They are joint fifth in GA, miles off the pace of City, Liverpool, and Chelsea (20, 22, 23) and also behind Wolves (28). They will almost certainly concede more goals than they did last season (39).

Meanwhile in attack they're at 45 goals. If you extrapolate to the whole season that comes out to 55 goals, which is the same amount they scored last season. It'll probably be higher, as they're scoring very little recently, a bit of a blip.

The point tally isn't very different from last season either. At 54 points in 31 games, that comes out to 1.74 PPG. Over a whole season, that is 66 points. Last season they got 61.

If they don't go on a very good run of form soon their season won't end up being much different than the previous one.

Not exactly very good ROI on the £154M spent over the summer.

I'm a glass half full kinda guy, I look at it as a benefit. Being so used to disappointment as an Arsenal fan means you can deal with anything life throws at you.

Of course, Arsenal don't spend £150M & no-one else spends anything though. I think that's forgotten on here.

We spent £20M more than Utd, and £40M more than City & Chelsea, who already have billion pound squads.

Im content with about 2/3 of the season. What I'm not content with, is that as soon as we get injuries to the first team, the quality drop off is big. Considering we are in a non European season, that is not good. Like I keep saying, Edu & Arteta gambled, & it's failed.

I do agree with @Mastadon frustrations, in that we have players on loan like Saliba, Guendouzi, even Torriera, that could have helped this season. It means we have a lot of work to do in the summer yet again.

Arteta isn't anything special whatsoever, as much as some of the media still want to believe he is. They do have the odd pretty goal, but that's football, it happens. He continues to massively underwhelm me. Arsenal have looked better purely due to how shit others are around them.

I think one of Emery's problems at Arsenal, and then also at PSG, was that he doesn't seem to be great at communicating in another language than Spanish.

I think another reason is his personality. Seems to me to be much more comfortable in a underdog role.

Pretty damning that us and spurs are having dogshit seasons, have sacked the manager and arguably could sack the replacement (RR leaving anyway). Then you look at the table and think ‘wow, how the feck has Arteta been getting away with that’

So you are saying that sacking your managers hasn't made a difference really. :wenger:

No. We should twist again. But how has he got no negative press? Ole and Nuno had the vultures circling for weeks and weeks until they went.

Shouldnt complain anyway, its nice to see the arsenal board backing a manager who will have you as also rans every season despite the hundreds of millions he has now spent

If your at a big club longer than 1 season you will have spent hundreds of millions nowadays.

And I fear every other manager apart from Pep & Klopp will be an also ran while there here.
