Rashford considering his future...

If any player doesn't want to be here, let them off. We just can't afford players strolling around the pitch.
Next season should be start of new generation of players and staff. The fans of this club deserve much more than what we are getting from some players now. I have walked out of games and stopped travelling over this season when I seen my team surrendering in some games.
It is disgraceful how these players are stealing wages from this club and letting down the fans. I really hope next season is the start of a new beginning.

Players aren't robot that they only operate in a deterministic, fixed way. Even Ronaldo would have tracked back if it's a crucial time to defend e.g. last attack that determines if the team gets 3 points. It's not about if he's used to do it. He came on, had a pair of fresh legs, what's so hard about running for a top professional footballer like him? and most importantly what kind of madman waits for a counter attack near the end of the match when his team was already ahead and the only thing that matters is to stop the opponents from equalizing and ruining the 3 points at hand? on top of that let's assume that he did track back, it's still possible to play counter attack when we get the ball back because again, he had fresh legs. It's not about hate it's what you see with your own eyes.

He has been. Played striker only for a bit when Ole first came in as interim. Since then he has been on the left until recently when he has been bad so played on the right. He's rarely up top though.
 
IF and it's a big one Erik can get him to beat players again and actually make better decisions in final third then still got a player
 
He's not beyond redemption. The new manager is coming at the right time in his career, because next season is a crossroads. He is not going to be sold this summer, let's be serious about that. He's still youngish, on shed loads of money and at a low market value due to form, and is important to the club as a product of the system. All that means he simply isn't going to be discarded now.

But his form has been so poor (bottom half of the table form or worse) for so long that something dramatic has to change and soon. Well, we've got a new voice, undoubtedly a new system, probably a new set of signings. It's not just going to be a continuation of the current status quo so that increases the chance he could come good. We can't keep doing the same things that aren't working and expect it to work so by having a major change like this I'm cautiously optimistic.
 
If he was a player under SAF - he wouldn't stand a second.

The guy used to always play and not worry about a sub replacing him.

Now we have more players in his position and he has the audacity to complain even though he plays shit.
 
I'd let the new manager decide if he wants him or not.
It's a shame, I've loved Rashford but his form recently... I still think there's an excellent player in him and his decline probably mirrors that of our club in general.
Still hoping he can turn it around.
 
Rashford's form is based on bad decisions over the last few years.
First, he played while carrying a back and ankle injury for a whole season. Then last April, when united was looking for him to have an operation, he decided to go to the Euros injured and wasn't fit enough to start. To add to his problems, his confidence was further damaged by the penalty miss. When the euros were over, United looked for Rashford to have the operations on his injuries, but he went on holiday instead.
It's clear that his confidence is at Rock bottom now, and he's feeling the pressure playing for united, especially as a local lad, but he can come back.

He needs to take a break and get away from England for a few weeks as the negativity around the club is poisonous, with certain media outlets on a Crusades to print trash about the club.
Then when he comes back, he needs to buy into the new manager's ideas, or this will be his last season at the club.
He has the talent to come back; has he the mentality or stomach to meet the challenges ahead?
 
Rashford is not fit to even lace the shoes of the kitman.

He might be happier elsewhere but it just goes to show what can happen if you don’t have a management structure in place to keep young players feet on the ground. I think that’s what Ferguson was worried about with Beckham.

Rashford needs to be somewhere he’s going to be the main man and that’s never happening at United if we’ve any ambition left. Also I don’t think his ego will take anything less. While he’s here and a bit-part player we’ll always see this sulking, lazy player we’ve seen in the last few months. If he goes somewhere else where they build the team around him he’ll recapture his old energy and enthusiasm.

This guy was earning 1.7m a year when he signed his contract in 2016 (at 18) and I'd imagine he was earning 2x the average UK salary from about 15/16.

There's millions of people growing up poor (me being one) and could never dream of making the money he's made which makes it difficult having a positive mindset about money when you're working to survive and are 1 payslip away from being on the streets.

No doubt his initiative will be about saving 30% of your monthly wage, investing 30% of your monthly wage while living on the remaining 40% - easy peasy!

He may have grew up poor when he was a kid, which is hard and demoralising but he's had opportunities in life that (going by the figures he and Lingard posted) 99.988% of people won't have, and he's been living that life since he was about 6 or 7.

It annoys me when rich people tell poor people how to be more confident with money - specially those who have been extremely lucky in gaining huge wealth, it would be like a lottery winner telling you how to make money.

Thing is, if you dropped Rashford, or most other footballers for that matter into a universe where they couldn't be a footballer and didn't have any footballing contacts then they'd be lumped in with the rest of us normies, living just above the breadline or poverty (where he began, and likel wuld stay for the rest of his life).

Who would be daft enough to build a side around Rashford ? It would be a death nail for any decent side. He’s just not very good at football. Never has been. One of the most overrated players I have ever seen.

Rashford was born poor though wasn't he?

He didn't get rich out of luck as far as I knew.

Yeah sure, give him another extended holiday. Are we in partnership with the make a wish foundation? How many players have had holidays this season? Cavani seems to be on a never ending holiday, Pogba was in Dubai for God knows how long instead of training here. Solskjaer and the entire team were sent away for a week after we got twatted and were at our lowest. Now we should send Rashford away for a few weeks while we struggle to make 4th.

I have a another idea. A senior figure should pull him in to an office and give him an ultimatum. Buck up your ideas, work hard, put in some effort, and do your best as a professional footballer. If you can't do that, find another club.

Being supportive of players who need it is good, for a time. But with United it goes way beyond reasonable levels to the point where players take the piss and their treated like Kings. We're a professional football club, not a charity. There comes a point where players need to take accountability for their own performances, just as the rest of us do in our jobs.

He’s a limited player but not an awful one. If he drops down to a side with no expectation of qualifying for the Champions League he’d be a decent purchase.

Being born with natural talent is luck, I'm not saying he didn't work hard to make it, but his advice won't really be applicable to the majority of people.
 
All I know from what i am reading is:

He isnt sure he wants to remain here due to lack of game time (when he hasnt earned the right to any)
His contract ends in 12months this summer

Its pretty simple to me, you offer him a new contract this summer or sell him, otherwise its another player still with value you risk losing for nothing in 12months.

Obvious decision for me, he is currently our third choice left winger and we also have a couple of other youngsters on the verges of breaking through that can play the left wing position in Hannibal and Garnacho.

All the players at there best, I still think he is second choice behind Sancho and though I liked him I never thought he was the world star the media and fans made him to potentially be, its time to move him on without doubt in my opinion. We have had year after year of these kind of conversations about Rashford, Martial should they be on the left or up front etc etc and neither has really nailed themselves on for eithe rposition bar a few months, we are talkign of 4/5years of those conversations now minimum, move on both

Natural talent luck is bullshit in my opinion.

If he didn't work hard then he wouldn't be at United atleast in his younger years.

No one gets born to play football. If he didn't even have a love for the sport he might not even follow the sport compared to a different sport like tennis or cricket.

If he was born in West Indies then he might be loving Brian Lara more than Dwight Yorke.

He followed the sport. He enjoyed the sport. He practiced the sport and he became good at it.

The luck is more to do with scouts seeing him in my opinion because that can't always happen.

Even in my life - I feel like if I went and did what I enjoyed and was good at rather than going to do what my parents wanted or forced me to do then I would be in an even better and simpler, richer life than I am now.

That's what these footballers go do in my opinion - go and do what they want to do at a younger age and some but not all just eventually get rich.
 
I think the best thing to do with Rashford would be for ETH to make clear to him that he’s not into players doing stuff on the side, he’s only interested in training and games. See how Rashford responds and trains for a week and then decide whether to keep him or move him on. Rashford canslways do charity work through United, can’t he?

I played loads of football as a kid. So did all my mates. None of us made it pro. Rashford did.

How do you explain that if natural talent is bullshit?

That doesn't explain the footballers who don't like football yet somehow became footballers.

Just because you love something, and pursue it, doesn't mean you will succeed - you'd need an incredible amount of luck to make it as a footballer, I don't care how hard you work, without it you'll be nothing.

I would never take financial advice from a footballer purely for that reason.

Yes, of course you need hard work to become an elite athlete but you also need elite talent. The idea that hard work and zero talent can get you anywhere in sport is laughable.

EDIT: I disagree entirely with the notion that teaching kids to be good with money is a bad thing. There aren't enough real world lessons taught in schools.

Scouting can be lucky because not everything can happen at the same time.

Because he was better with more practice at a better age.

I played lots of football and people were wondered by my football but I had come to the game too late because my family didn't want me trying to achieve a life through sport.
 
Even the genetics of simply having the physique to play football is out of one’s control and can be considered luck. Never mind being born in Manchester and coming through while we were total shite.

I played all the time from as early as I can remember. So did all my mates. None of us got anywhere near making it.

Do you really think the very small percentage who make it do so because they got souted and the rest of us didn't?
 
I mean I guess when you look at Messi, he was born with growth hormone deficiency.

If he didn't get the luck of his growth hormone injections then would he have made it?

Maybe everything is luck then.

Maybe it was unlucky that Rashford got tackled and broke his back at that time, if he had a cold that day then he might have missed the match and missed the tackle.

If being a sports man of Tennis, Cricket, Football, Basketball all comes down to luck - then I guess most things in this world do too.

Maybe it's luck that I had parents who forced me to study medicine. It's that luck that made me rich but also went and saved some of you people's lives at hospitals?

Any player who makes it pro, be in Premiership, Championship or even 1st Division has a natural talent. Yes, there's a difference in natural talent in say Messi / Totti etc over a Teemu Pukki, but they all have a natural talent to be able to score.

There probably 0000's of players out there who work and train their socks off but will never make it as a pro because the football brain and natural talent just aren't there. Heck, even Gary Neville must have had some talent to have 85 England caps and 400 United appearances, it can't just be about hard work alone.

For me, the difference to unlocking your full potential is hard work - and that's where I'd agree with you that you have to put the hard work in and I'm not sure Rashford is doing that at the moment with all his off-field commitments (that being said, I have no idea how much spare time a player has and he might be utilising his in a different way, whilst Ronaldo might be using his in a cooling chamber!)

Okay I agree that there maybe a natural luck to football say by not being born disabled just as much as being born with good DNA (although this is called good karma rather than luck per se).

But is natural luck enough to get you to this game as a professional?

It already already happened to ex-footballers in our own universe, when they didn't know what to do with the money and burnt it all on a lavish lifestyle and afterwards started working like a normal person to earn a living.

Pretty much, but they probably didn't have financial advisers back then, footballers these days probably do, which probably makes them think their financial geniuses.

"If I can invest a million a year and make 100k off it yearly, why can't kids just invest 50k and make 5k a year? After 10 years they wouldn't need to work again."
